I'm positive I've read somewhere in this thread a few posts about the best cost/effectiveness ratio between raising up Adept Learner and getting XP hath perks... but I can't seem to find them anymore.

Can anyone shed some light on this matter?

And, above all, are the old suggestions still valid in the current version of HV?
There used to be a break-even point, but not anymore. Since the effects are now additive, 50k for an increase of (+2.99 multiplier to +3.00 multiplier) (the cost and benefit of the last training) is always better than 1.5m for an increase of (+x multiplier to +(x + .25) multiplier) (the cost and benefit of the first XP perk). Max out AL before getting any of the perks.

Oh, yeah, it's additive now (that sucks). 10 hath per 1% vs final level of AL at 50k means that maxing out AL first is the correct move.

I dumped spirit shield for spark too (/ ` A')/ -'---'-
At the difficulty I grind at (Hell/Nintendo) monster's attack usually hit around 2500, and spirit shield only takes 100 - 200 hp off at max (if it did at all >"<)
I think it only suits leather, where you rarely get hit but each hit hurts a lot more.

Eh~ Seriously? for me sometimes spirit shield has taken around 3k

Try IWBTH, or even PFUDOR. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

Or maybe wait until your 1H prof gets above 200.

humm, since I was back a couple of weeks ago, I picked up my 1H and had fun with that fighting style. Really addicted to infinite Spirit Stance (as a typical lazy potato).

As my 1H prof is reaching my level limit, I try DW + light armor. But it seems I am not able to maintain Spirit Stance for a long time w/ DW style.

Any suggestion?

I don't think any other fighting style has capabilities to maintain spirit stance as much as 1H.

[From Wiki]
A successful counter will add 5-10% of Overcharge, but only once per turn.
The number of Counter-Attacks that can be performed each turn depends on proficiency.
<100 - one counter
100-199 - two counters
>200 - three counters

So at 200 1H prof, u pretty much get 3 chances to regain some OC.
U only can gain OC from 1 instance, meaning even if counter attack procs 3 times in a turn, u only gain OC for 1.
Other fighting style lack this kind of 'gain OC from proc' mechanism.
Therefore, unable to stay in Spirit Stance for long periods.

I agree. Infinite OC is just some 1H privilege.
Due to lack of DW prof, I cannot imagine how fast DW would be in mid-to-high difficulty farming.
Would DW in normal stance harvests faster than 1H in sp Stance? I turn on heartseeker in both styles.

No idea, i pretty much used DW pre-lvl150 and have been using 1H since lvl150.
Since its been so highly recommended by everyone.

Current recommended play-style from all the previous discussions in this thread
<lvl150 2h light armor
>lvl150 1h light armor
>lvl200 1h power armor of protection/slaughter
>lvl310 continue as 1h or mage (due to unlocking the 0cd imperil ablity)

Hi 5! Same here.
My buffing sequence -> My IA1(haste) & 2(protection) then i will first cast spark > spirit shield > Regen (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

in your case, i would change ia2 into spark, the more mp a buff/spell need to cast the more time you give monster to hit you.

since ias are picked now, after that followed cast order: protec, sp shild, SV, now depending on monster group if needed
use weaken and or also hp draugts, befor casting regen and seeker...

are you even useing hp warning scripts?
since i cant say for sure for your lvl, but on my lvl i dont cast spark nor SV with 1h set since hp warning dont let me drop too low hp range/one shot opportunitys. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

Yeah, i am. Sometimes during PF Arena, my spark trigger once or twice so i i have to keep it on.
The reason why my IA2 is protection is cos i'm lazy, sometimes i do lower difficulties so i may or may not use spark/spirit shield neither do i want to use sv.

Maybe i'm just afraid (paranoid) of the weird interaction of IA spark when it triggers while low on mana or spirit.

To grind proficiency,
1. Use the weakest 1h weapon u can find,

2. Break the weapon (get defeated til durability goes down - this is so u do not kill the monster so quickly and can get repeated hits off on it for a longer duration, remember to unequip ur armor first so u do not also break ur armor, the weapon u break should also be one that u would never want to use again, cos repairing is pain in the ass)

3. Enter IW (Item World) on a 'Crude' quality item in Nintendo/IWBTH difficulty,

4. Self Buff and hit til u cannot take it anymore (refrain from wasting pots), Look out for turn 200++ (the monster will start hitting hard and u might die)

5. Exit draught up and repeat.

^preferably done with mousemelee or spellspam script
(reduces amount of concentration needed to perform these task)

IW, just potency, item level doesn't increase.
Item level only increases when it is Soulbounded to u and u level.

I did it the hard way, I went Normal diff and ground that 1H mofo through Arena battles. I got way more EXP, loot, credits, plus clear bonuses, etc. and that was before I was able to fight at Hell+

Woah. Dunno about you but I've been one-shotted into Cloak of Fallen many times on IWBTH+. The only warning I would have gotten was "YOU HAVE BEEN DEFEATED" had I not been using Spark.
