i don't really think. ponies price was so high because of OFC fever and it was considered nearly mandatory. now almost everyone has it or don't need it because is a mage and furthermore it has been discovered that it's not so fundamental. probably now prices are even too low, but still...

One question: is it ok to hint people about stuff in Equipment shop in Ask the Experts? I think the biggest potential audience is in this thread and since the equipment now becomes untradeable, the potentially usable equipment would go to waste otherwise.

why not? afterall, there is a common way of thinking but still many trends. if you think bazaar can still be useful, go ahead and suggest it. as long as they buy things in their level ranges it's not that they will be damaged somehow (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

For melee, it used to be something to be considered as a marginal possibility for regenerating spirit - in the past, after a finite amount of spirit had been used, you would die no matter what if you kept going.

Now, with unlimited items, it's pretty useless, though I don't know if mages would prefer to Drain on SGs to save a bit on mana potions.

hath baron. what's even more crazy is that he gave the chance to have some free hath to people when the last post on his shop was 2 days older or more, but nobody let nobody else to have them. and meanwhile he had a shitton of free bumps and his shop was almost always on first page. maybe i should start to do myself something similar...

In the past that i used 2H, Storm Spike Shield was great help, but all in all for 1H it's not helpful...

well, it's still a buff and almost free. good choices are fire to boost fire mitigation againist dragonkins (obviously you have to throw in the ability more than 3APs) or the element which boosts your weapon's damage. which strike does it have?

Storm and Frost reduces hits blocked (and hits taken), so that's out. Elec reduces evade - the only one that helps offense - so it might be the best choice, even though the effect is quite minimal since Overwhelming Strikes already gives very high accuracy. Fire reduces monster damage against you, so it reduces Cures and spirit damage taken by a very tiny amount, as well as reducing damage from Dragonkins (high proportion of elemental damage), so it's probably the best defensive choice, even though the effect is likely completely unnoticeable.

You can also see if your weapon has an elemental strike that synergizes with a spike shield's elemental vulnerability effect.

So, I have a question for the Mage combat style. Staff Proficiency can increase your spell damage, and accuracy, but so far as I recall (unless it was changed since last time I played more often) you only get proficiency by using your basic single target attack. So, is it worth it to try to use the weak attack during normal battle, or is there a way to grind staff proficiency more safely?
