I disagree. Unless a player is already playing all the worthwhile arenas each day (pretty unlikely for most lower level players), the profit of IW will very likely be lower than their opportunity cost (of not doing more arenas), unless the player gets lucky enough to get Jug.

But if arenas are done and a player can still play more, sure.

thats how it is, the only days i can manage to IW are saturday / sunday.. on other days i would never have enough time to clear the arena first and then even concentrate on IW my items

Yeah, what? 2h is crazy? Crazy gaming as I like it. I can do other (less crazy fighting styles) when I suffer from Parkinson's disease and my mouse moves on its own due to it.

Just let 10B read our fundamental advices and the next patch will be more sarcastic than any other patch before... Like imperil only counts for physical attacks or has a cooldown of 5 turns if max ability points invested... (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/duck.gif)

Ok... this is how i see things after trying for a little every available for me melee combination.
At the moment my proficiency has the following numbers:
1H: 110 / 2H: 183 / DW: 12.
Light Armor: 172 / Heavy Armor 132.


1) Best of the best for low difficulty fast clears (and i mean FAST) for what i experienced is really 2H/Light Armor.
Let's say in "hard" difficulty i get the first 50 levels from arena TT&T in 1 minute something if i use items (just a little more without).
High agility + shadow veil + storm spike shield makes you almost untouchable and constant domino strike deals with all (most) enemies at the same time. 2H has huge damage, aoe armor penetration and aoe stun so seriously it allows you to deal with any situation.
You do have mitigation, regen deals with what passes through and stuns prevent you from getting hurt anyway. At the end of every turn before killing the last mob, quickly recast the spells that are about to expire, use focus to replenish mana and you are good to go. 3-5 monsters are a piece of cake and you ruuuuuuuuuuuun like crazy.
Massive advantage. STAMINA. You can do the entire arena and still have stamina to spare.
PROBLEMS: Random encounters can be delt with up to Nintendo difficulty only. And even at Nintendo if you get 8-10 monsters against you you might die 1st turn.
I can do the first 3 arena challenges at pfudor and after that even mention pfudor becomes a joke.
In short i can play up to "hell" or "nintendo" with this set.

2) DW/Light armor.
Since i have high agility for my level, shadow veil + storm spike shield + my agility bonus makes for more than 50% evade and the rapier/wakizashi build get's almost 50% block (i only have this for now http://hentaiverse.org/pages/showequip.php...;key=28b719ff79 but as soon as i hit lv. 239 i'll soulfuse this instead http://hentaiverse.org/pages/showequip.php...;key=086096e2af in order to be able to equip it. Well till then we will see. Anyway this makes you very very hard to hit all the same (add blind to the equation) and this build has a very high damage so the clear is pretty fast.
Not reliant to stuns however and having a slower clear allows the enemy when they get 9-10 monsters to keep on using skills on you so you are at the risk of getting one shoted at max difficulty. Random encounters at max difficulty seem like something out of the question, but possible.
In short you need to have yourself buffed 24/24 and be ready to use some potions. You might get yourself killed at the 1st turn at max difficulty same as you might go full arena without getting touche once.

3) 1H/Heavy Armor.
SLOW. Damn do i feel the difference in how slow this is.
Took me more than 15 minutes (infusion effect wore off) to get the 2nd part of the TT&T arena.
But i have to admit it. Forgiving.
I go Nintendo random encounter vs 10 monsters and i clear it 100% of the times, while otherwise (light armor) i would be dead 50% of the times. I can do max difficulty arena challenge without that suicide fear i had before. But damn it takes forever.


All in all i DO feel like light armor is better right now, but knowing that harder hitting monsters are coming my way,
makes it obvious that heavy armor will soon be indispensable.
As soon as i get a decent rapier and manage to get it to lv.10 the 1H/Shield should become fast enough. What's great is that you have less of the fear of getting killed like nothing even in random encounters.
However there is this casual thing that bothers me. Drop rates.
I know it's not related, but boy did i get many drops while playing with 2H. The 4% drop rate gems would drop in almost EVERY round in all arenas. I didn't make it in time to use the gem and a new one would come out. With H/Shield i hardly got 2 gems in the entire run of TT&T. I would get precursor artifacts (I HATE THOSE) all the time, while since yesterday i haven't found a single one. Even the crystal drop rates look like they got less...
Mah... Weird.

Ok, comparing your Henjutsu level and proficiencies you do it like a teenager not knowing who to ask for the school ball. That's perfectly fine. You never know what you like, if you never tried out. Better said: know what you do not like.
As for your weapon skills, you lack all DW specials. (The wiki states them as Tier1 to Tier3 Special Skills) So you have a rough idea of how different play styles behave, but lack the skills to fully utilize these. The "feel" shifts after 100 weapon proficiency.

Your armor decission is your gusto - you can read the last 10 pages, I think we just had that heavy vs light debate (again for the 208th time), just go back a few pages here. Renember your abilities slotted scale only with proficieny, so slot them properly when using heavy or light. Abilities for light work only when slotted AND light armor is actually worn. Same for heavy.

Do not play too much below HELL (if you can handle hell), because after rather "quick" 1000 rounds your drops will be shortened steadily. (and cool down while not playing)

I started actually playin HV 15 days ago. I first decided to read the Wiki long after lv.100 and only yesterday thanks to the help i got here i realized what i had to ACTUALLY do.
But still i wished to make this test run of the feels that i get with all combinations since i heard that before lv.240 it was better keeping light armor and i did want to try the dw. That's all (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

Thats just badluck. Also i checked 2h for me and its slower. Maybe because my acc was only 144% and i missed (parry/evade) many attacks.

Oh, Snowflake my a$$! Fifteen days is a short period, but hey, you did the best things a player can do:
1. reading the wiki and
2.ask here if you have questions.

There are a lot of high level players who do strange stuff. Why? Because all are told to think that going "mage" is the solution to all things. Mostly mages tell you this story. But I can tell you: It's the "feeling" you have while HV'ing and not what others say, what is "best" for you.

There are some players beyond 400 who do:
- heavy armor and Niten (Katana & Wakizashi, considered "strange")
- heavy armor and 2h (considered "low defence and not desireable")
- light armor and 2h (considered "CrAzY")

The heart wants, what the heart wants. So if you feel like dancing with Betty at the ball, don't dance with Rosie.

That's how it is, 2h has the greatest offensive potential. It's very lacking in defense, but if you're fine playing low difficulty, there's no problem - it's surely the most time-efficient method to spend stamina and gain credits (other than high-level mage). The only annoying thing is that you have to constantly enable/run out of spirit stance, so you have to pay a bit more attention.

Power armor will give you even more damage, allowing for faster clears - but I know it's expensive, so it's understandable if that's not a viable option.

With DW, you have parry, rather than block. (parry blocks physical attacks only, block is with 1h and can also block magic attacks, in addition to counter-attacking and stunning)

Your analysis is spot-on. 2h has the most damage but least defense, so it's great for low difficulty, 1h has the least damage (without power armor) but the most defense, so it's great for high difficulty. DW is in between. You like light armor, which will work just fine until you gain 30 or 50 more levels.
