I want to start going up against Legendary monsters, but I don't want to get ass raped. I already beat Konata, but that was easy since she has an elemental weakness. I'm a mage with a staff - what are some obvious things I need going into fights with the other Legendary monsters in terms of abilities? I only just recently starting using Holy magic so my Divine Proficiency is at a shitty 3.54.

The Haruhi trio is not much harder than Konata, the real jump is from Legendaries to Ultimates. Just keep them Weakened/Bewildered/Poisoned at all times (expect for Ryoko, who doesn't need Bewilder), use Spark/Scroll of Life, spam Infusion-powered Smite/Banish and they should go down without too much of a fight. Regen/Haste and a Katalox Staff of Heimdall would probably help, but they're not necessary. I had some Ebony Staff of Focus the first time I defeated them, and my divine prof was pretty much shit (it still is (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/anime_cry.gif)). Oh, and roughly, Yuki > Ryoko > Mikuru > Konata.

I just beat Mikuru, in over a 100 rounds. Smite was doing between 800-1100 damage a turn. Poison only did 120~. She could almost never hit me, but shit, that was kind of rough in that I slowly dinged her to death...

Ran into RL again, almost beat it but missed one turn without reapplying silence on it, obviously got wiped. Then I saw the "hard" difficulty set. F-M-L.

So mages, what element suits are you using now and why?
I'm currently still using Elec, mostly because of drops. Still incomplete though, so the damage is not that hot. Looking to maybe switch to Fire (no 75 resist mobs) or Wind (miss debuff).

I think you are just unlucky. Nevertheless, I feel clearing arena is more likely to give TOB, although you might get it through item world.

Just acquired a set of shade equipment. Here are 2 sets of stats (both without weapons):
1. Power equipment: Physical attack +50.9% damage, 94.3% hit chance, 16.1% crit chance Magical attack +6% damage, 83.3% hit chance, 11.5% crit chance Physical defense 27.2 points absorbed, 27.4% mitigation Magical defense 29.5 points absorbed, 21.7% mitigation Avoidance 9.8% evade, 0% block, 6.3% parry, 4.6% resist Compromise 90.9 interference, 48.8 burden Proficiency 120.14
2. Shade equipment: Physical attack +36% damage, 95.3% hit chance, 15.9% crit chance Magical attack +6% damage, 85.7% hit chance, 11.5% crit chance Physical defense 16.4 points absorbed, 21.5% mitigation Magical defense 18.3 points absorbed, 16.1% mitigation Avoidance 19.1% evade, 0% block, 6.9% parry, 43.8% resist Compromise 30.7 interference, 13 burden Proficiency 58.41
Which set should I stick to in the long run? Also, what tips for fighting while wearing shade set? Thanks a lot.

I want to increase my monsters' levels so they'll be encountered more often. Hopefully then they'll win more battles so I can get items from them more often instead of waiting for several days in hopes of a single battle won so the hours I haven't checked up on them won't go to waste. (If I'm understanding how the chances of getting items from them work anyways...)
However, I don't have a large supply of credits for crystals, nor do I intend on having extremely powerful monsters. Can anyone recommend to me a decent level to stop at so that they'll be encountered by a decent amount of people? I was thinking about stopping at 100 or so...

Level 35 Giant: Battles Won: 1180 Killing Blows: 604 Level 205 Giant: Battles Won: 1652 Killing Blows: 587 Most of my other monsters aren't close to that. I think if you just want them to bring you a lot of stuff you need to make a lot of low level Giants. But a goal should be to have 1@+250 to get high quality items.

I'm guessing Giants are recommended because of their resistances to all 3 physical damage types and most low level players aren't mages? Either way, I'll keep this in mind once I get more Chaos Tokens. Guess I'll just level up my Daimon to something a bit higher for now (since it's level 16 and still has 0 Killing Blows/Battles Won) and focus on my Elemental as my "main monster" until I get level up Scavenger a bit more for a higher Crystal drop rate.

@ballistic yeah i'm going elec + fire atm. most of my EDB is elec and a little EDB in fire. ideal for me is to go pure fire though.
@halizorat giants are ideal because they have the highest base strength+endurance (reliably high damage and tough to kill in general)

A couple of things.
1. Now that I'm 40+, I'm looking to make monsters but have no Chaos Tokens. Would the best way of getting these be just spamming arena/grindfest for drops? And do any of the training skills like Scavenger affect the drop rate of Tokens?
2. Also now that I'm 40+, I want to see if there's any train skill I should level besides adept learner. That's at 40 now, and I was thinking about raising archaeologist until I've ran out of about half my cash (currently 30k). Is this a good or bad idea?
Thanks.

1) best way to get tokens is arena. there's a decent chance to get "arena clear token bonus" which guarantees you a token (check release notes for probability of healing/blood/chaos). scavenger *should* increase token drop rate since it basically increases drop rate of *everything* except gems
2) i would invest in whatever training you can afford for scavenger/archaeologist quartermaster is debatable since most gear you find won't be significant, really. you might want to get it anyways since the equpiment nets a little more from the bazaar than the other loot (with exception of artifacts)
archaeologist will quickly shoot beyond your budget while scavenger wil be a little more accommodating

So I just realize as I level up mana cost for spells will increase. Should I level up my magic proficiencies now? I like to burn through godlies, its probably more cost-efficient with some sorta ether staff I assume, but I consider time = money.
So any advice on how I should tackle my magical proficiencies?

@rawrboy spend all your mana on the last round of arena before you clear it. ie kill everything except a sprite or a slime or something and then spam your spells til you have no mana/very little left. then finish. arena clear will heal you right back up
