I've read a lot that rapier is the best one-hander at higher difficulty. Is there a particular difficulty that's the tipping point? Like, a good ax is better on Normal-Nightmare, but Hell and up rapier wins? Or is it less precise than that?

Okay so I stopped getting Tokens of Blood when I went back through the Trio and the Tree at on down the list to Longest Journey the last 2 days. I was using normal and then Hard at the time to see if the problem was playing at a lower difficulty than I did before.

Today I hit Trio and the Tree at Nightmare mode, the hardest difficulty I'd ever played it. And guess what? A Token of Blood.

Do Tokens of Blood now depend on you playing these Arenas at higher-than-before difficulties? If so I'm screwed past Nintendo mode until WAY later levels.

Rapier has served me well at any difficulty. Of course the rapier I received from a kind soul on here is an utter monstarrrrr even for rapiers.

Combine a good rapier with a good force shield and you are not a HV gamer, you are a carniceria.

It depends on how many turns it takes you, on average, to kill a monster on that difficulty, and how frequently you proc PA. For instance, if you play on low difficulty and can kill most monsters in 2 hits or less, PA only has a moderate chance of kicking in on that first turn where it might help, and even then it would only be -25% Pmit (rather than the -50% or -75% from more stacks). So, using an axe with high weapon damage might be a better alternative on low difficulty. You'd have to calculate it from your own stats to figure out exactly where the break-even point would be.

The problem is, it's annoying to IW and forge two weapons at the same time when you can only use one at a time. Unless you have funds, I'd say better just to play high difficulty with rapier alone.

Would anybody (noobs and mid-levels) want an auction thread for level 150-350 equipment?

I've been looking for equipment and it seems a lot of the old unassigned stuff (< 0.82) is total -- how shall I word it nicely -- shit, especially the power stuff. So I went to look for equips in auctions and I noticed that there are barely any lower level current stuff.

If we noobs (and mid-levels) get an auction to ourselves, we could surface equips that would never see the light of day. At least we would get better stuff than some of that unassigned junk. Even the exquisites would be better! On a sidenote, some of the old legendary power equips have ADBs in the range of the current average/superior/exquisites. So it's a total waste of money to buy, upgrade, and repair them (what outlandish costs for such crappy stats).

And it wouldn't cost so much! Holy moly, some of those prices for the high level equips.

I think us noobs deserve stuff better than that old stuff. New stuff for noobs too!

I'm not speaking for anyone else but I hate auctions. They always seem to result in excessive competition and overbidding.

all that is known about that patch is that it will be a patch that will affect mitigations.
all the rest (included the impact that it will have on 1H style, if any) is only speculations, fake as one piece spoilers on sundays

I just wanted Raurusama to reconsider thinking that his legendary shortsword was horrible and to perhaps just keep relatively good quality equipment just in case for any future changes whatever they may be.

Good luck finding any Power Slaughter with Smax+ ADB for under a couple million. It was only patched very recently, so near all the ones floating around at the moment have those "crappy" stats, yet they're still much better than the alternative - which is why they're so costly.

Sure, you could try setting up an auction, but given the noobs who would be involved, I imagine it would be quite difficult to organize, let alone for anyone to be interested enough to make any profit off of. I think a useful goal to start with might just be for the lower level equips to be collected in just one or two places, rather than all of the lower level players having a number of decent extras they can't really do anything with. Freeshop used to do something like that, which was useful as something completely separate from the stuff being free.
