QUOTE(ikulaiser @ Jul 7 2011, 14:46) Which is better: Divine proficiency :+16.00
or
Elemental Damage Bonuses Holy : +16.00
Asking because is it better to buy Heimdall or Heaven-Sent equipment for better holy damage.
Holy EDB, no doubt the approximate damage formula tells us that 2 point in prof. is almost 1 point in EDB And getting 1 point of EDB is still better if you compare with 2 point of prof., as your character already has natural magic prof. It's better to spread among MDM, EDB and prof. as possible Holy EDB has another good thing: it raises the effect of cure This post has been edited by varst: Jul 7 2011, 08:58

How do you effectively train up proficiency? I have 44.10 in staff proficiency and it's really difficult to lvl it up for some reason.
I thought just attacking stuffs would up it quite fast since it usually goes quickly if proficiency is too low compare to your current lvl.
I'd just attack for 30 rounds and not gain any. I also tried to do magic missile but it also doesn't do much.
Plus, is it even worth doing it in the first place?

By playing as a mage for a long, long, long time. I've been playing as a straight mage for over two years and have never been anywhere near having my staff proficiency maxed. There is no shortcut to boosting your staff proficiency. Also, IIRC it doesn't increase with melee attacks, only magic attacks, which includes Magic Missile. And it's worth doing at least to the point that you cap your coalesced mana chance.

I maybe wrong, but AFAIK staff prof. can be increased with melee attacks, that is, crushing everything with your staff. It's because I used to turn the difficulty to cake, then crush everything with staff only in order to gain staff prof. You just need to press a button, then another, then another... It's really tedious and boring to train it. Just a bit better than killing everything with magic missile. Edit: Confirmed that, staff prof. did increase with melee attack. 6 2 You crit Scary Ghost for 701 crushing damage. 6 1 You gain 0.02 points of staff proficiency. Yup, I'm a buff mage, bro. My muscles won't atrophy that much just because I stopped beating monster's faces in a couple of years ago. QUOTE(varst @ Jul 7 2011, 14:50) I maybe wrong, but AFAIK staff prof. can be increased with melee attacks, that is, crushing everything with your staff.

Maybe is was magic only a while back and then changed to include melee. I definitely remember some bitching about how hard is was to increase staff proficiency and a change to make it easier. At any rate, there's nothing to make you gain staff proficiency any faster other than Assimilator training. This post has been edited by hitokiri84: Jul 7 2011, 22:05

Damn, time to figure out how much I need and then stop.
Sounds like an annoying process. The staffing part that is.

https://forums.e-hentai.org/index.php?showtopic=38059 <- why stop? +0.5% spell dmg is pretty hot imo. and i think it'll take a while to hit 35% chance. so far with 201int/171wis/75prof i get 25%. even if my prof doubled, it'd only go up to 30%. tl;dr, i think we have a ways to go (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I believe the change was adding in the ability to gain proficiency with magic missile. Originally you could only get staff proficiency with melee attacks.

I think you are correct. Good memory. QUOTE(Tenboro @ Jan 28 2010, 07:37) - Magic Missile is now a free cast. However, using it will no longer increase proficiencies. (It is still affected by Elemental Magic proficiency.) QUOTE(Tenboro @ May 3 2010, 09:34) - If you cast Magic Missile and you're using the Staff fighting style, you now have the same chance to gain Staff Proficiency as with normal attacks.

/sigh I wonder if picking 150% overcharge instead of +exp was a good idea at this point?

you melee! you mad?
AFAIK overcharge only affects melee Until Lvl 200 you won't have much freedom in spending your AP, even if you ability boost to 70+ and spend much artifacts on random AP But don't keep resetting your ability tree, or you end up spending too much credits in that later when it's really necessary.

Every single high-level up there is a mage... Is there any 250+ 2h-melee player? I mean, do I even have a slightest chance of clearing this whole "game content"?
