The 1H build I was using to do DwD on Hell was

Rapier
Shield
Helmet
Body
Hands
Legs
Feet

alright, the problem is undoubtly your gear (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif)

usually 1H is better paired with heavy power to maximize ADB - protection/warding when you have survivability problems, slaughter at higher levels. shade is viable too, but less effective
as for main weapon, rapier of slaughter is a very good choice. ethereal prefix is not mandatory, since they have low BUR, so you can choose between wahtever you manage to find/your preferred prefix; on the other hand, IW10 is quite needed.
as for the shield, force are very appreciated for their high block, but kites/bucklers of the barrier may be useful as well because you don't need matrixes to upgrade them

lastly, as general suggestions:
OFC is a great addition for 1H. not mandatory, but very useful since 1H can provide the needed OC quite quickly.
dovahkiin rank allows you to use FRD, which may be nice to have, but still inferior to OFC. and furthermore, you have to throw away 10% output damage granted by Godslayer rank to be able to use it

i know, but he spoke about PF as well. and his prof may be too low to see better block' benefits, so i only gave him a general advice.

sure, obviously. but his account is quite old and he's a tristar, so i guess he may have done it with a bit of time and decent dawn bonuses - not my cup of tea, i only see that his build is not enough anymore

[edit]: btw, i'm trying a simple IW run @ Nightmare with shade DW / FRD: with Spirit Stance on, it can still be used for quick rounds, while without SS it's pretty much useless (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

obviously it was. and it's still viable, personally i think that until lv180~200 or whatever you want to consider the threshold to switch to 1H, a newbie can make his way with mace/full leather pretty easily. maybe they wn't be able to play PF, but who cares? I was a bit busy these past days. And I NEVER GET BORED OF E-HENTAI! Hentaiverse yes, that I get bored of sometimes (Happens from time to time).

I have more than enough time to finish all the Arenas daily with ease. My advise: Become a Mage.

Umm...Amm...Omm....Nope, can't remember what Armor I used to reach Lv.200. Only thing I can remember that my primary weapon was a Shortsword, that I IWed myself. (Yep, it was 1H playstyle)

I burst out laughing at the last one. Hopefully this doesn't happen again when I get round to IW my primary rapier.

Rapiers are so annoying to iw, you need to dodge all the OP and swiftstrike. Basically a 5/4 4/5 iw.

I get that feeling a lot when I was doing IW for my armors. One example I had was initially, it pops up jug 2 then cap 1 and I was pretty happy... then later on I got some whateverproof and it decides to up that to 4 levels.
