Thanks for the explanation. I'm currently using 1H and 5 shade (various suffix). would it be better if I switch from 1H?
By what level a player can be classified as a higher level? around 400 or so?

Also, is it worth the time to IW low tier prefix (exquisite and lower)?

some exq types are still good: an exq power of slaughter it's quite likely to be worthy, and also an exq prefixed rapier of slaughter. rather, don't waste time on an exq leather

Raise some monsters and you will have one every few days .

That's strange.....even with my small army with relatively low PL, I still got ~5 CP in a month. My currently 5 unused CP is from this month as well.
BTW, I mostly fully upgrade the gift chance for the higher PL monsters.

1H was not buffed. It's just that other melee got heavily nerfed. The problem of melee (besides 1H) is the survivabilty issue now. And their speed is already much slower than mage.......... Then, why people use melee besides 1H?

i have only got 11 CP drops since last mid-Oct 2014. So ~5.5 mths for 11 CP drops. that's 1CP drop every 15 days. or 0.06666......CP/day.

1.Well it is after post level 100 [80 if lucky] that all good stuff starts to drop provided scavenger & LotD are trained depending upon your budget and ration allocation

Unless you're willing to settle for Superiors or generally mediocre common-type gear, the only way to get decent gear is to buy from the high-level grinders.

2. I would opine that DW and 2H proficiency to be grinded with light armor till before level 200 and 1H + Heavy armor be used post level 200 for melee style players .

The huge PL increase starts around level 130. It'd be useful to have sufficient defense for this via 1h by 150.

i read the release notes deep enough lately (from the 1st one).

For katara, the only way is shade + ethereal katara + ethereal wika.
If you want to use as 2H, use leather x 5 + longsword/mace.

I think using dual weapon with leather/shade is better at your level.

Longsword has more damage, but Mace (same damage as Katana) lets you stun many enemies at once as well, and Estoc (same damage as Katana) gives Penetrated Armor (very useful). I think Katana is only worthwhile for Niten.

At your level, leather armor is probably your best choice. Once you get to around level 150 you'll be running into high PL monsters, and PL will only increase from there - so to survive, you may wish to switch to 1h so you have enough defense.

1. light armor = less burdern + minimal interference [good with katana and any 2H 1H and DW]

2. Katana or Long Sword [both slash weapons]

attack wise well

slash < pierce < crush < elemental < holy and dark < void(very rare NOW) attack type

1H rapier : 2H estoc (pierce) [penetrated armor] [2nd preferred]

1H club : 2H Mace (crush) [Sleep or Stun effect] [preferred]

The only way actual good stuff will start dropping is if equipment drops become Account Bound. Maybe the drops could improve but would be locked above a certain quality threshold. That way you could still sell most equips, but top tier stuff would still be obtainable but not exploitable.

1 hath approx = 7000 credits

1 credit approx = some GP or something

1) probably shade has a bit more advantages of power, but still... pretty sure i already answered it though
2) at your level longsword, ut mace would be a good (and more durable!) choice as well

3. I meant the rate drop just like CP discussion. personally i think its more of a pre / post christmas bonus and timing for every loot is already established on the administration side.
