So i have started playing as an elemental mage today with staff+cloth gear and monsters are easily killing me even in normal and my mana runs out pretty fast as well. Is there something im doing wrong?

very quick question, why training prof on crude IW ?

crude IW has much lesss round....

It's the safest because there are few enemies and they're weak, you'll only have to worry about 1-3 enemies or so instead of 5-10 and such. He said he's dying in normal mode, so the only easier place he really has to train is there.

I'd guess that's because your proficiencies are low? You may have to go into a crude item world to train them up. Mage is all about kill or be killed, and having low cloth and staff profs greatly affects your damage.

That and I've heard you just need very good gear at those levels to Mage. I'm using just regular Superior/Exquisite stuff and am doing okay in hard, but I've been a mage since level 1, so my profs are good.

Yeah, my proficiencies are very low, but i was under the impression that with fairly decent gear i would be able to do normal at least without much problems but even against low amounts of monsters(4-5) i struggle a lot and even get instakilled sometimes as some monster special attacks do over 60% of my max hp.

I've never had that problem, so I don't know what you could be doing wrong. I've never specifically trained armor proficiency though, it just goes up fairly well in normal play. Wearing all leather? Maybe parrying/blocking affects it or something? You're suppose to still gain it if you evade, so I don't know why parrying or blocking would hurt it.

For equipment, try posting your equipment links instead of just their names - that way others can see what their stats are.

Try getting Exquisite leather with 4 PABs. It's pretty common in the Bazaar, and can greatly increase your damage and toughness.

Ohhh... How do i post equipment links? I don't know how to read 4 PABs (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif) Can you tell me more about monsters? Like what type should i make and is it useful or why is it a burden to me. Tyvm. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) And do i have to worry about my weapon condition?

Proficiencies cannot be gained during the turn the Defend or Focus commands are used or when a player otherwise skips a turn. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

You could try to just combine it with upping deprecating prof or take the long haul to normal T&T und just staff attack the norns while yggdrasil heals them.

1. your prof is too low. low elem or staff prof = you'll only have low dmg Tier 1 spells. low cloth prof = lower crit%/speed/mp.
2. also, if you're doing "even" stats, your int should be higher (ie as high as Wis).
3. you probably need a better staff & robe.
4. lastly, if you've the spare credits/haths. VV and start forging your main staff.
5. you might want to stick with 1H until lvl350.

Give you an example.

Assume all STR, DEX, AGI and END are integer that in the range of 4 to 10, or 0. When the attribute is 0, it give 0 point to the quality, when they are 4-10, each of them will give stat-3 (i.e. 3-7 points) to the quality.
So, each extra point besides 0 will contribute 1 point to the quality but the first 4 attribute point only give 1 to quality.

If 20+ quality points will be in mag range. do you prefer:

1. 8 for all four stat
   or
2. 10, 10, 9, 0 for STR, DEX, AGI and END?

2. Also do Deprecating proficiency in any way affect the sleep an silence spells, if so how?

1. Counter resist, if your staff/hath perk also give Deprecating proficiency.
2. Faster cast speed.
3. Lower mana consumption
4. Effect duration.

every PAB has many effects, so if you're checking 1PAB shade against 4PAB shade, then the problem doesn't even exist: 1PAB is pretty much bazaar fodder. bare minimum is 3PABs, and only if the piece is quite outstanding.

either way, shade shouldn't never miss DEX and AGI. a piece without (one of) those two is pretty much worthless

Just to be clear if I understand you correctly it affects the amount of the attribute bonuses (fewer attribute bonuses = bigger bonus/higher number) but nothing else.

On Crude IW, monsters do much less damage than even Grindfest. So even with crappy cloth armor, you won't be in danger even on IWBTH. But, monsters still have the same amount of HP on high difficulty - so you can cast spells 400 times with low damage before the monsters start dying. Lots of proficiency gain, little danger. You'll likely run out of mana before you finish 10 rounds.

Can't gain proficiency while skipping a turn - otherwise, it'd be too easy.

If Crude IW on Normal is giving you trouble (???), maybe also equip a weapon (Waki of Nimble for high parry) and a shield.

Use Spirit Shield and one attack can only do 20% of your max HP. It's very useful.

Press C while hovering over the equipment

4 PAB means 4 primary attribute bonuses - Str, Dex, End, Agi.

For monsters, only make PL 25 ones (more than that is too expensive), and only feed them crystals to improve morale. Don't upgrade Chaos upgrades (except Scavenger from 0 to 1 once you have a whole lot of them).

On schoolgirl arenas you'll be getting from 8 to 22 trophies per run, and even then you'll almost never shrine anything useful. Better to save up a few hundred or more and then sell them for ~500-900 apiece to those with FoS in WTB section.

At level 130+, the PL of the monsters you fight will begin to skyrocket (from the ~100s you're fighting now to 500 and 1000+), so the monsters may begin to do too much damage for mage to work efficiently... maybe. See what happens.

Look at the stats themselves to see what's worthwhile, not just the prefix. There are plenty of Magnificent+ equips that are mostly worthless (either due to type or due to bad stats), whereas some Exquisites can go for hundreds of thousands or more.

At your level I'd look for 3 PAB ~Smax+ phase with decent evade. Smax should be cheap, there are a lot of shops with discounts for lower level players. Bazaar is not good, it is where people get rid of all their trash gear that isn't worth selling to others.

Pretty sure it was 3 PAB + Fire Prof (Like my Exq Phase Body Yay!), I wouldnt consider it too much at that price else. Most of my things are 2 PAB and also if I play the Trade/Forum game too much, Ill invest too much time in it and pursue more goals than just playing around tbh. Also rather not take donations and play for myself. Plus can't rely just on drops to get gear right now. So bazaar will have to do for a while.

It takes me like a minute for 10 battles in a grindfest run. Yay exp!

Edit: Cant help but think that my prof in some stats should be way higher than I have them. Especially if I unlock abilities for the 2nd/3rd tier spell that I cant even use.
