I got one rank of it and have noticed a difference, it's pretty nice. I got tired of not having or even being close to rank 2 spells. Grinding proficiencies with full magic interference gear was not helping me at all. Probably won't buy any more though as 100k seems pricy atm. I'm not looking forward to Depreciative spell grinding as I don't even use it usually. Do people buy ranks in Weaken cd reduction to grind it or something? Every 3 turns is annoying, and the other Depreciative spells are pricy.

Doesn't the price and cost/time of Assimilator seem a bit weird? It's the kind of thing you'd want as early as Adept Learning to get any use out of it really. Seems like it should be similar to AL so people can grab a few ranks of it early.

assimilator is useless for everyday player but i have the same appreciation as yours. It's useful especially for a style which don't gain proficiency at all.

It's reassuring to know that prof will naturally catch up, I just started doing RE in IWBTH last night and have been leveling up every 30mins. I was getting kind of worried that my prof will be too low.

The bonus from proficiency is not significant before level 250 anyway . Btw , once you reach level 350, you can no longer level up by RE alone . So, the expensive prof gain rate training is for multi-style players only .

Yeah I've seen how much exp is needed to level up for those higher levels in some of the posted screenshots. Right now I'm earning at least 1m exp per RE, here's the recent one just now with 9 monsters.

Eventually you have to become a toplister or Catgirl (of which there are multiple levels) if you want to continue leveling at a good pace.

I haven't been using deprecating spells and since I now have access to Imperil I'm wondering if I should use it. I'm not really sure because at my current level deprecating spells don't hit a lot of target at once and I'm thinking casting each on for each target costs too much mana and wastes some turns.

Also, heartseeker is available to me now and I would like to know how often should I use it. Should I always keep it on or it depends on situations when I need it since mana cost is quite high, it's about 140+?

do you really have imperil? because as for me, its just the better imperil and not the skill itself open for me.

I always use imperil against schoolgirls, big bosses, and RE. Unlike mage (non-prof) which require it or else they'll die, imperil for melee only for speeding things up. But early level of imperil is scarcely game-breaking, therefore you can ignore it at least for some while.

If you need to train deprecating prof, use silence and weaken. Use sleep with DW to cheat ring of blood.

can't find leg cotton of protection on this week auctions. i guess they won't be exactly cheap. even though they should

I originally started with DW, but didn't like it much.

I swapped to 1H early on and retained the light armor, figuring that stacking evade on top of block/parry/resist should make me more or less immortal. I hoped attack speed would serve triple duty by keeping Overwhelming Strikes up, generating more counterattacks by inserting more player turns between enemy attacks, and just plain improving DPS. It's also why i'm mainhanding a wakizashi at the moment rather than a rapier - looking at the combat formulas, it looks like vastly more damage comes from your base stats + proficiency rather than the weapon itself. This was all before I learned about power-type heavy armor, though.

But man, my proficiency is so bad in everything (been using light armor since day 1, and it's 50 levels below cap) that I feel like I'm locked into the choices I made.

1. DW/2H are good styles to start because 1H at low profs isn't good: it needs 200 prof to be ued at its fully extent, but you still have to reach lv200 in some ways. btw, DW can be still used later on (albeit it's not as berserk as 1H) at some extent, while 2H not: there exist some lv360-or-so DW players, but the highest 2H should be stuck at lv150 or so, i guess

2. 1H heavily relies on block/parry for counter-attacks and evade cut the number of hits taken, so the number of counters as well: it can help your survivability, but it also will slower your clear time. and wakis are a good choice for mainhand, switch to a rapier - if you already didn't

3. your profs are low because your level up speed is too high, but it's common at high levels. probably you won't be able to max a single prof until lv200~250, but there's nothing wrong on it.

afaik, it's only useful for mages who want to max staff prof on affordable times

if you unlocked silence it's nice to have it. imperil only on high-HP mobs

as you already noted, heartseeker is quite expensive, yet more effective, so cast it whenever you have a channeling effect. if you really *have* to cast it without channeling, at least do it in spirit stance

you can see FS as a sort of database, so if you want to know which stats can have a gear it's worth a try.
