I think I'll just stick with mage, I tried switching to 1h+sh and it didn't feel right, plus my prof made it pretty horrible. Maybe someday...

parry and adb are nearly lmax and this are the most important stats i guess für a rapier. Burden is also really low. but still. 4m?

Probably it is a bit, because dw isnt very strong atm and for 1h we dont rly need nimble. Its almost same as change power to protection and legendary protection isnt very expensive. We have many ways like shielding. Actually i checked a bit and saw m shielding 17 phys with 5.8% for only 200k.

Also, I've seen comments that as far as casting times go,
* T3/T2/T1 > weaken -- I know this is true from the Faster Weaken ability which reduces casting time as low as 0.6.
* T3 > T2 > T1 spells
* holy/dark > elemental

But I don't know where the other two come from, or how much longer the casting times are. Are they based only on magic proficiency affecting cast speed? If so, this distinction may be useful to make because someone with elemental magic proficiency reaching 500 would cast T1 and T2 elemnental spells equally fast; someone with 700 holy proficiency would cast T2 holy spells just as fast as an elemental mage could cast their equivalent T2.

Not rly, because they can hold up to 3 gifts (6 with scavenger). So only rly good monster with high gift chance can bring more than it.

it really depends on the element you want to stick with: as far as they are all matching, you shouldn't see many differences at your level

i suggest you to switch to hvstat light. also, hoverplay or spellspam to make your game quicker

uhu. basically you don't have an element, so i'd like to ask you: is there a specific reason for you to stick with mage? melee is very appropriated for the first 300 levels or so (well, even beyond lv300 tbh...)

I found more or less comfortable way to gain staff proff. So i equipped staff with almost 500 damage and dark strike. With full slaughter set its 3700 power and mostly enough for my ordinary schoolgirls on normal farm. A bit slower and sometimes miss (need more accuracy), but its quite solid.

Not really, if you are going to pay a few million, you are going to want to get a piece that is forge-able. For weapons you want the slaughter prefix. Compared to an 'of slaughter', you are missing 51% to a mag adb, or 67% to a leg adb. At my level that is 700-900+ damage.

Yes. Its very nice rolls. Only problem is low demand.

Overall combat strategy question now that I'm playing seriously again (last time this was true I think was when Kevlar had just been patched out of dropping).

Quick summary is I've been using 1H + light armor (finally full decent shade set bought with my dirty hath money) mostly in the past because I didn't know any better and now I've been sticking with it due to proficiency and the fact that I really didn't want to spend that much on power slaughter. Also the huge interference increase seems like a huge drain on mana use (I'm already using a battlecaster buckler to mitigate this, and between auto-cast slots and my high wisdom I can last quite a few rounds between pots).

In general now that I'm actually using a good rapier and fully buffed weaken this is working surprisingly well even on PFUDOR; the 30% each on dodge/parry/block goes a long way to ensure I don't get hit much. That said the hits that do get through hurt pretty bad (especially the piercings). Is there a level past which I'm really 100% going to have to switch to power if I don't want to heal every 3 turns when fighting 6+ enemies? Is the evade going cross purposes to my 65% counter chance and screwing me over? Or would just upgrading my shade (which seems much cheaper than buying/upgrading power) be able to counter some of the mitigation problems and keep this strat viable?

TL;DR question: Is 1H + Shade just a stupid build?
