No skills. No Spirit Stance. No ridiculous Block Chance. Only one Counter-Attack per turn. The only thing you could do was attack enemies -- one by one. Dual-weilding was pretty much in the same boat. Two-handed and Ninten Ichiryu were the only melee fighting styles that allowed you to hit multiple enemies, but the range of Domino Strikes was smaller. Of course the chances for various procs also had lower caps. Elemental Strikes and Void damage didn't exist either. Sexy melee armor also didn't exist; a lot of melees actually ran around in cloth: silk specifically, because it had the Fleet suffix and naturally lower compromise stats.

People not playing mage was a year or so before my time. It was probably back when magic was first implemented and wasn't fully developed.

i remember when i first started, melee were all going for silk of fleet for the sake of melee accuracy and high evade. nobody bothers with light and heavy armor.

mages were all going for gossamer of prof and not phase.

to fight the RoB bosses, you would need a full set of specific mitigation armor while mages can't use their staff for RoB. they need a high PA BC rapier and BC shield to make use of PA+spell.

i still have my BC rapier and BC shield from back then.

Nah, it's 'cause going Goss was rad.

Just test iron v37 for a while, the speed is more or less the same as v27. I use portable version btw.
I will try how well can it be in long run. If the speed are same, I think I will switch to the v37.

P.S. so far the slowest script is the anti-virus/anti-spy-ware script. If I turn them off, other scripts do not make much different (excluding HVstat full version).

Conclusion, the speed is similar in short run. Let's see how will it be when the cache filled up.

I used to play Hv on iron 21 portable and imo it was the fastest among all "old" versions, but i didnt touch 37 v. at that time, so it might be fastest nowadays, what i want to say is if you have time -chek 21 and to be frankly i'd like to know results (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

2. Will it really do that much difference? I have exmax shield forged 3 times (for me it is almost 40%).
I have 6% shielding armor piece and by using it, i didn't notice difference, except lower dmg. (i know that it is not something one can notice just like that)
The worst part is that it is increasing as diminishing returns..

Block is the most important stat for 1H. Get lmax shield and forge its block 50 times if there's supply on WTS or auction and you have enough funds. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

3. I have 4 piece slaughter + warden (with still pretty good adb). My overall abd is low (~5200), unfortunately i don't see much potential in increasing it.
Even if i had 1000 more adb it would still be slow. And i am unable to get 1000 more even if i wanted it very much.

Clear time depends on Attack Damage. You should forge your rapier 30~40+ times, get Daemon Duality perk, and go with 5 power slaughters with good ADB after all. And to be safe with that 5 power slaughters, you should raise your block chance.

4. I use ethereal rapier iw10, unfortunately it rolled elec strike..

It does make a big difference on SG arenas at least.

5. Right, i almost forgot about OFC. It is like 800k in credits? I should aim for it for now.

It's 1.26M assuming 60k per one pony now. Very cheap at the price in comparison with its performance.
IMO it has more worth than even 5~10m for 1H when you make good use of it. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

6. Lately i have been grinding forbidden on RE (leaving 3 mobs and spamming corruption + mana potions). I have 81 now.
Soon i will check if it works for me. Still i am not thrilled with idea. : p But what necessary is necessary.

I'd say get 200 Forbidden prof. to get Ragnarok.

7. well i am starting to be a bit dissapointed with 1h (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) it is good, no doubt.. but i just want to kill them faster. Lately i sometimes even do low difficulty arena just to get rid of stamina faster.

The greatest advantage of 1H is that it's safe even on PFUDOR because of its block and stun by counter-attack. And to be fast you should raise your AD as far as possible.
To sum up again:
1) Forge your shield's (at least exmax+. mmax is much better and lmax is the best) block chance 20~30 times. The higher, the better.
2) Go 5 power slaughters with good ADB.
3) Forge your rapier's AD and parry 20~30 times. Use holy/dark infusions for SG arena.
4) Get OFC and utilize it.
5) Get Daemon Duality perk.
6) Spirit Theft is an option. It's good for balancing MP and SP, but not a must.
7) One more tip: If you feel lack of mana, try to use featherweights.
8) Enjoy (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I only tested v28. Perhaps v27 is as good as new.

Is is because you are mage.. or bad connection?

All Asia players are suffered from high ping. With SpellSpam™, my t/s for both mage and melee is similar.

Lots better. 1H has 2+ layer of defense (parry+block).
For leather choose protection suffix & agile/reinforced prefix but not recommended for 1H, it lacks damage.

Press F key on the first screen of Monster Lab to feed monsters and give them happy pills.
No waste there.
