Just wanted to thank everyone who was part of my journey at the end of Feb for this game. I've recently swapped to mage, and it is good times. I'm sure I burn through more mana than most people right now, but that's the nature of the beast.

My staff proficiency is mighty low, is there any specific place to get that remedied? I'm guessing a Cake giant level item world kind of thing?

When gearing, should I look for Fleet equips, or Elementalist equips? I know that Ebony Staff of the Elementalist is probably the best I could work at for a casty stick, but armor itself?

As I get higher in level which stats should I start to trickle less and less points in to? I know it's smart to keep them about even with your level, and I know you want a focus on Int and Wis while keeping End high, but can someone give me a priority tree real quick?
Int>Wis>End>Agi>Dex>Str (as an example, I'm not saying this is what it's going to look like)


Quick word of advice: before you decide to tackle your arenas, make sure you have the difficulty set where you want it to be, and try not to wonder why you're being smashed for hundreds of points of damage when you're on Battletoads mode.

I remember reading somewhere in earlier posts that INT and WIS should be priority, and keep AGI and END at about 3/4 of the current xp costs of INT/WIS, and STR and DEX about 1/4 the cost of INT/WIS.

Or was that 1/2 for AGI&END instead?

Apart from not answering the question, this is mostly wrong. There's no modifier to the off hand attack accuracy bonus, Niten doesn't give you an off hand parry bonus, and the off hand damage is reduced to 25% (increasing to 50% with some value of DW prof that I can't be bothered to work out).

Correct answer:

- Whenever the mainhand and offhand weapons have the same proc, they are now combined in the following way:
-- The proc chance is combined multiplicatively, as (1 - ((1 - mainhand_chance) * (1 - offhand_chance)))
-- The duration and damage are the weighted average of the duration and damage on the proc of the two weapons, with a 0.75 weight on the main hand and 0.25 on the off hand.

Apart from not answering the question, this is mostly wrong.

I assume you are asking to find out how I get so much exp?
All 3 spectral auras, no metallic auras. lvl100 at adept learner and all Exp bonus abilities full.
That's pretty much 177% increased exp from auras, 100% from training and 126% from bonus tanks.
403% total exp increase. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

I get around 4500~ exp for a full round of 9 monsters (no mini-bosses) in IW on hard, in an exquisite shortsword. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
That's about ~900k - 1.1mil exp per one IW clear. I have spelunker at lvl 2, so I get about 10-12mil exp per day.

Sheesh Kamui, I'm hoping this Credit Farming is really what it's cracked up to be on mage spells and whatnot, because my rate's been pitiful since Day 1. I can't fathom how you afforded 100 levels of Adept Learner without some heavy equipment selling.

Oh non non non, mon frère, I sold ARTIFACTS! Granted, they went for 10k a pop back then. And people bought them like crazy. I could sell 50 artifacts without even having to start a freaking WTS thread. Used to be able to PM a lvl 150+ guy and tell 'em I has 50 artifacts for sale, and half a mil creds would fly my way in a flash xD

Now, you have freaking 22 artifacts in the BAZAAR, and no one's even bothering to pick them up. ~_~' oh the sadness...
I imagine I made about ~6mil creds from artifacts.

If I want to level quickly, what spells and equipment should I prioritize to get? I'm currently doing max fire and wind, and I have some bad elemental equipment. My staff is an oak staff of earth-walker.

This is my current maging equip:
Superior Ebony Staff of Surtr
Fine Gossamer Cap of The Elementalist
Average Gossamer Robe of The Elementalist
Fine Gossamer Gloves of The Elementalist
Fair Gossamer Pants of The Elementalist
Average Gossamer Shoes of The Elementalist

You want to get something similar. Notice that the staff increases elemental prof as well as fire damage.
And notice that the armor has high physical absorption and evasion. That helps you survive longer when you don't one shot everything.

Having fire and wind is ok I think, though most people go for fire/elec, now that there are user created monsters, it's really hard to say which elemental spells are the most effective.

Also, remember that dmg is not only dependent on equip, but also on proficiencies. Since your proficiency for elemental magic caps at your current level, having ~40 prof isn't that great. That's why most people switch to maging after lvl 100, when your proficiency is at least 100 and you have third tier spells.

I don't know for sure, but from experience - no.
By leveling up really fast, your prof's do indeed suffer quite a bit.
You have to compensate for that by grinding your profs at the end of the day. But I think it's a small loss. Higher lvl's = more arenas = better equip stats = more credits = more spells = etc.
Losing some proficiency is worth it in my opinion.

Hello all.

I have been a mage from Lv.1. I am not sure if i played the character correctly, so i would like to ask some advices from you guys.

My statistics

1. Right now my staff prof. is at about 80% of my level. Should i spend time to max it out?
2. I plan to keep my magic prof. at about 90% of my level, so that i can keep my training for prof. easier.

My abilities

3. Right now i have not planned to improve on experience bonus yet. I think i should do so after Lv.100 when the experience required for leveling becomes sufficiently large. Also, I am not hurried to do so.
4. Should i keep all 4 types of magic?

Fine redwood staff of focus
Average silk cap of the cheetah
Superior gossamer robe of the fox
Fine gossamer gloves of the fox
Average gossamer pants of the owl
Average silk shoes of the cheetah

5. I have been keeping my silk equipments as i cannot find some good gossamer equipments yet.
6. I have noticed that many people are using full elementalist equipments. I am not sure if using equipments with high INT/WIS bonus is a bad idea.

9. Which is better for training exp at IW? High challenge level + lower-tier equipment or otherwise?
10. I have been training my prof. at arena. Is that a good idea?
11. Right now i am using the following strategy: use 2nd-teir AOE first to wipe out most of the monsters, then use 1st-tier AOE to kill the monsters left. Will i benefit if i change to elementalist equipments?
12. I find some difficulty dealing with legendary monsters right now. Using banish can only hurt about 1% of total HP of the legends, so i need about 80 to 100 turns to grind it out. Right now i am not going to attempt ring of blood challenges again until i get SOL.But seriously, is that because the legends are really so hard to kill or is that my character's problem? Should i find some special equipments when facing the legends?
