QUOTE(darkx @ May 14 2014, 16:37) Melee sounds very complex
i'm probably just over complicating things. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) melee is simple, Max ADB & whack/OFC enemies to death.

QUOTE Higher the level, longer the fight. Because monster effective hp (hp/(1-PMI) ) grow much faster than ABD of player. Even with PA, hp of the monsters still grow faster than melees adb. To prevent mana run out, you need to increase your damage as much as possible. Good thing about higher level is that your defense is better so you only need to worry about damage.
So, get some power slaughters. Piece of missing END is ok if you are not dying. Then, get a good weapon if you do not have one. Next, go for DD. Followed by others hath damage perks. smile.gif Forgot to add my ADB is at 5463 with 35 % crit. This post has been edited by HNTI: May 14 2014, 16:55

Nothing is so simple against SG arenas, I'm afraid. QUOTE(HNTI @ May 14 2014, 22:55) Forgot to add my ADB is at 5463 with 35 % crit. Wait, wait, wait, how much ADB did you get from the armor again? Is it just me or does the power armor's ADB doubles once you reached Level 320 or something? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) fyi, from what I see, all your power armor's ADB combined is +147.58+208.66+343.15+208.75+132.34+1040.48 Btw, does Imperil reduces physical mitigation as well? Not that it's very practical for anyone's lugging heavy armors anyways. This post has been edited by LostLogia4: May 14 2014, 17:50

I think you should have ~6000 ADB with 1H power at your level.

i guess you'll probably hv to min-max a bit to finish SG, i've found 3 SP is good enough to do 1-2SG arenas@PF without having to heavily rely on Spirit Drain. also, 10 mana is good enough & more versatile, because you can always get more HP &SP with MP, but not the other way around. though, i guess mages are a lot different and supposingly hv endless mana (?!). or at least, don't hv to deal with crazy amount of interference. yes, it's quite useful for Axe (or Mace?) on bosses. though, but for Rapier, because of Penetrating Armor.

i'm building a phase set, without even slotting any staff/cloth ability i am a 1550MP/0ITR, while my heavy set is around 1100MP/135ITR (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) This post has been edited by Scremaz: May 14 2014, 19:11

Only Blacksmith-kun had anywhere near that supposed endless mana, mainly cuz he only needs Imperil to blow up all the mobs. For me I'll need MP for various other depreciating spells like Weaken, Sleep and Magnet, didn't bother with others unless they're asleep cuz I can't take on these brutal mons for long. Also, IA4 is borderline a requirement for a mage really to challenge the PFUDOR SG arenas comfortably imo, except that it costs the same as Effluent Ether. QUOTE(Colman @ May 15 2014, 01:08) However, MP still run out fast for most of the mage. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Especially during long attrition battles like SG arenas and hellfesting. Anyway, my MP is 1485 on Tier 8 MP Tank (an afterthought-slotted ability), with 306+232=540 Wisdom, with Cloth MP it's 1655MP. This post has been edited by LostLogia4: May 14 2014, 19:10

wind. i have an ost also for this but i will spare you (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) WIS at 308+255+8 = 571; i'l try with cloth whenever i'll have a 20ish or so AP to throw away (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) QUOTE(Colman @ May 14 2014, 19:08) However, MP still run out fast for most of the mage. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) btw, which suffix may be better? focus, destruction or freyr?

I don't think you need any proficiencies for it. Just the ability itself, ripened soul and drain

Wait, imperil isn't needed when using rapiers? I feel like I've been wasting mana all along...

'just' means about at least 30AP (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) QUOTE(Kazetenshi @ May 14 2014, 20:16) Wait, imperil isn't needed when using rapiers? I feel like I've been wasting mana all along...
it may be useful, but surely not needed, since PA is already a good process. i didn't note so much of a difference when i used it (i eventually removed all AP from Imperil abilities (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ), and it seems to me that Spirit Stance + rapier is good enough to go This post has been edited by Scremaz: May 14 2014, 20:34

I have Ripened Soul, Better Drain, Faster Drain and Spirit Theft all slotted, I have the Drain spell slotted in the Character > Settings > Quick Bar Slots but when I cast Drain, I recover a bit of Health.

You need to cast drain when rippened soul has proc'ed after casting a dark spell to trigger the spirit theft. This post has been edited by boulay: May 14 2014, 21:40
