QUOTE(LostLogia4 @ May 6 2014, 09:20) How do you gain 55% block chance anyways? Someone mentioned weeks ago that you need whooping 55% for 1H to be viable...
See my shield (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) (in the sig). Using it alone can let you have 55%+ block, with some 1H proficiency. FYI, my shield have only got M_Max block. A Leg_Max block shield can reach 60% without any shielding plate.. This post has been edited by Colman: May 6 2014, 04:30

Time to jump on the holy bandwagon (which has nothing to do with me despite the naming (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ). Or get fenrir just for the purpose of clearing SG. You probably are already using Willow staff anyway (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif) This post has been edited by holy_demon: May 6 2014, 04:34

I wonder if it wouldn't be better to save up for an LMAX shield and and forge that instead, rather than work on an MMAX shield first. Seems like a bit of a waste to me. /shrug

With 5m, you can get either a unforged LMAX shield or a forged PMAX shield. Which would you choose (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Not bothering with Peerless though since my name doesn't begin with Stony and end with Cat.

QUOTE(zen_zen @ May 6 2014, 02:46) I don't know - I don't have OFC, I was simply responding to scremaz' question. Just call it bantering between those have-nots, daydreaming about nearly unattainable superpower weapon. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) How many AP are needed to acquire maxed for my level, Spirit Theft? Sorry, no offense meant (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) I meant why use FRD when one already has OFC. On the Spirit Theft front: TLDR: 34/38 AP base + 25 AP optional Base:Spirit Theft - 5 AP Ripened Soul 2 - 17 AP Better Disintegrate 2 - 12 AP OR Better Ragnarok 2 - 16 AP Corruption isn't really worth it, since it takes forever to proc ;( For now i'm running with Disintegrate because i cba to grind Forbidden to 200, but i suppose Ragnarok is the safer choice, seeing that i have to recast quite often because nothing procs. Optional:Faster Drain 5 - 15 AP (Being able to drain more often can be nice when the chance arises) Really Optional:Better Drain 3 - 10AP (Doesn't affect the spirit effect, but since we're casting it quite often, why not take the bonus (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ) QUOTE(LostLogia4 @ May 6 2014, 03:50) QUOTE(TheRapture @ May 6 2014, 03:33) I watched a video of a higher-level player playing on a high difficulty and farming EXP (presumably). I'm curious how all of the buffs are maintained, considering they burn 1/3 of my MP every set. (Of my 194 MP, Protection takes 25 and Regen takes 35). How do you guys keep MP high?
Which video? I can't really answer until I know which one... but I have over 1000 MP, over 1500 in my mage setup. Also a little tips on mana conservation technique... 1. Innate Arcana, which keeps your buff up as long as you have a little MP to spare 2. Abilities, slotting associated supportive ability not only increases it's effectiveness, but also increases it's duration and reduces MP cost as well (except Regen, higher tier costs more). 3. Supportive Proficiency, high proficiency reduces your MP cost iirc... Long story short, just focus on leveling up and slotting every abilities that you will use. I used to be in the same page as you when I started maging 200 levels ago. To add to that: * Innate Arcana (IA) passively reduces the mana of each spell on auto-cast by IA level x 10% and it takes out mana spikes that drop you lower earlier by being always on, sadly it's quite expensive early on (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) * As you gain levels, you also gain more levels in MP-Tank, which really helps by increasing your max-mana on a percent-basis (10% per level in MP-Tank) * There's also a chance to gain an equipment potency that increases your mana by 2% per rank, when leveling up a piece of equipment in Item World (IW). Sadly you usually need to lv200+ to do this effectively. * The buffs last longer with higher Support proficiency, so on a mana per turn basis they get cheaper. * The Training Pack-Rat enables you to carry more potions to restore your mana. This training is pretty much key to clearing Arenas at a higher difficulty. * Stronger potions are overcapping your mana at some point, you can use this mana to recast your buffs without losing from your reserves. (i.e. Heroic Mana potions restore 225% MP, with +95% MP you have 30% of your mana to spend for free) This post has been edited by simrock87: May 6 2014, 05:39

Well, assuming shield will not be nerfed soon, a Leg_Max shield should be a better choice. BTW, you can recycle the shield to get 80%+ material returned. Why dun get something reasonable and upgrade asap to have an easier playing experience earlier? Assume you salvage it later on, you at most lose 2M. If you can clear PF EoD/ED/DwD 30 minute faster, it worth it. P.S.: I do not remember Cat have got a peerless shield. This post has been edited by Colman: May 6 2014, 05:46

i think the problem with Lmax or Pmax shield is there isn't that many of them around. not a lot of ppl are willing to sell them & if they are selling them they might not show up in auctions/WTS stores. it's not like you can swing 5mil around, & you'll get a bunch of shield offers. also, 5mil = 1 Lmax shield = 1MMax sheild + 1 Mag Hallow/Demonic Rapier slaughter = ~3 Mag power slaughter gear = tons of training = 2*250cost Hath perk. ps. have you gotten a MMax shield already? if so, i guess i'll start looking for one too. Working on AP spreadsheet, as it'll help a lot for a mage like me. I'm rounding it down to five cuz it'd be hell for me to track every last level for the job...
Also, I have a 24" monitor, but only one is bloody insufficient no matter how big it is.
Side note: Erroneous description for Cloth Spellacc in ehwiki "Increase spell damage when using only cloth armor, scaling with proficiency." in Ability page. change that to "Increase spell accuracy when using only cloth armor, scaling with proficiency." I couldn't edit the entry myself, so thank you very much for correcting it in my stead.

...Why do I keep taking 600+ damage from monsters when my total HP is 2.4k? Is my mitigation insufficient? I have Protection and Regen up and with two hits at 600+ damage each, I get twoshot on Nintendo... (IMG:[ puu.sh] http://puu.sh/8B8lC/8df651bb1e.png)

That loss is what I'm trying to avoid. I guess it doesn't seem worth the trouble and extra cost to forge up an MMAX shield, even if it does afford faster clearing earlier, but that's just me. I don't think he has one, but he's looking for one and I doubt many players can say they have the ability to pay the near limitless asking price for one. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) You really know how to put things in perspective. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif) I've gathered decent gear sets for all fighting styles, but I'm way behind on my training and now I also have OFC to think about too... I picked up a MMAX shield some time ago in WTS. Check out Ckyc's and crass1's threads, they had some good MMAX shields last I looked. Congrats on the payout on that mace by the way, would've loved to see your expression after the bidding war ended. XD

I would suggesting you to wield a mace instead for safety. That's how melee fanatic kos9494 do it. As for you mitigation, no two thing you could do about it. Either get shade or power armor if you wanna stay melee, oh, and up your evade/block/parry chance while you're at it, cuz yours looked damned pitiful if you ask me. Oh boy, Nintendo is a "high difficulty"? And all of you sit here and chat about PFUDOR like it's some cakewalk...
