just found out this lv5 butcher rapier from this auction is sold for 2.2mil.

Did it have the dark strike before it was bought?

though i don't really know how much you can earn on the way tbh (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

generally, i can make ~25-30k/hr (credit drops + sell off equip) for Arenas@PF. excluding artifacts/tokens/infusions/scrolls/etc.

say i can average 100credits/rd @ hellfest

(100credits/rd* 1000rds + 5000 clearance) + (400 crystals/type*12types*8.75c/crystal)
= 105k credits + 42k credits = 147k credits. => ~150k credits

150k which is about 5-6hrs of PF Arenas. i guess it might be worth it if i got Crystrium1, but it's still 1000rds (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

ps. my estimates are probably way off since i never finish Hellfest or tried it in months.

it seems really much to me: 3PAB, not prefixed...
consider that i bough this breastplate for 50k at an auction, it has MMax ADB and AGI, EMax evade and some other things yet i was the only bidder...

though, if it takes you 150-180mins to clear Hellfest, it's safe to assume it'll take me double. 300-360mins (or 5-6hrs).

Oh you're lucky.
I once bid for a similar 3PAB gauntlet once and despite me and another dickhead guy being the only bidder it swelled to 2.5m because that dickhead guy won't let me win, but I won anyway. I was very unhappy because I could have gotten it for like 150k if he hadn't been there. After that, I swore I would severely inflate anything that he was bidding the next time I see him in any auctions but I never see him again.

I'd say the minimum level requirement for Hellfest is 330~350 lvl.
The gears do not matter except shield's block, also with some know-how, of course.
BTW I think the most important thing for Hellfest is player's tolerance to be tired for 1000 long rounds. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

i'd always imagine you can probably do an "extreme tanky™" Hellfest run @lvl300. Legendary Leather + Rapier of balance + force shield. all non-forged, but with Max IW. though, i'd imagine it might take 24hrs. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/duck.gif)

ps. maybe i'll give Hellfest another try, but 1000rds & without Crystarium sounds like it won't worth it. or is there some awesome clearance equip/credit drops towards the end of the run?

Okay... I guess I'll stick to plain ol'grindfest... the battle of attrition is simply not worth it for me, I'm only in it to grind 1H+Divine+Forbidden prof really.
Also, iirc even with Crystarium, you'll need to hellfest a lot to break even for the 250 Hath, impractical for me since my Net Connection is poor.

I'm doing IWBTHfest nowadays. After 500 rounds (in 2h), the gold + equips drops is actually pretty good (and I'm not even counting crystal drop). And I don't think Hellfest is worth it if you don't have crys2 (before the ED update, it's probably crys1)

And there's yer answer... but uh, I take it the ED Update have nerfed crystal gain from grindfesting and when?

Haste all the time. you'll need the OFC/Tier 2-3 spells to be ready as fast as possible, A high-tier Regen to recover the HP lost in attrition, Spirit Shield to avoid losing too much HP. Unless if you're lugging heavy armor, Protection+Shadow Veil is a nice addition to boot.

less than what you may think: as i said, my actual one has 27STR and 120 ADB, replacing with the one i linked (0 STR and 150ADB) would subtract me 20 overall ADB, so 35 STR is worth 50 damage points, almost nothing...

an unusual combination is the one wielded by brewdonkey, who has a slaughter as offhand, so you could ask him whether is good or not...

Well, for Niten, I'd say that the style leans more towards 2H and less towards DW since Wakizashi seems to have lower damage than Rapier, doesn't get a parry boost (doesn't really matter since Wakizashi has higher parry anyway and you get to share 2H parry ability)and lackluster proc. effect.

So for me I don't really think that extra hit from offhand strike can be crucial if not beneficial to my Niten setup thus I shall eradicate the idea of having Balance suffix on my Wakizashi. Criti. chance shouldn't an issue since I'm using SD and I can get some help from DW crit. ability.

Extra parry from Nimble suffix can be substituted with 2H parry ability. Of course it's always better to have more but it leans towards defensive boost. It can be beneficial on high difficulty but I'd run it with my DW set.

Rather than defensive suffix, I want a suffix that gives offensive boost to my Niten setup.
The Slaughter suffix might be great but I thought about going Swiftness which LOL50015 was talking about so I wonder if that could be viable. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Yeah, case in point, here's my other Fenrir robe. Dunno why I kept spending for redundant exquisite phases...

That aside, I've scouted out Battlecaster-type weapons lately, and it looks like they lives up to their calling... except that they tend to have low EDB, not that it's common for elemental melee weapons to have high EDB in the first place, To out it in perspective, their EDB is much lower than the phase armors.

Not for Hellfest, but good for arena. It is because your mp will run out at around round ~500 for elemental, ~300 holy/dark. On the other hand, 10 MP pots are sufficient for T&T (level 200 arena) on PF. Assuming no mp thief and focus. There is no point to use magic if it make you slower.

In addition, elemental mage is better because of the lower MP cost. (And the lower level requirement for upgrading the skill)

Anyway, 1H mage is just for fun. Or for low level mage to challenge high level RE.

So I should roll my legendary staff of focus in a fire mage setup for Hellfest once I've get to high enough level, I take it?

And Adept Learner while you're at it... oh, you're Level 295 already!?

Or to grind proficiencies, I might add. For serious battles that requires speed, all-out mage is best for highest DPS.

Gah, looks like I won't be switching from my kevlar set to something else: all parts of it has at least 5 PABs, and the helmet is even better. And I have the second one as a backup.

Old Battlecaster weapons have had pure Magical Damage bonus, and it was okay, I guess.

5 buffs - Protection, Haste, Spirit Shield, Regen, Heartseeker.
From 1 to 1000 round.

Even though I'm playing holy melee style on some arenas for fun., it's bad for Hellfest.
Lack of both physical and magical firepower to clear/endure the last round of it. Moreover very slow.
