Should I go ahead and use all trophies I get now, or save them for later levels, and if so what levels and which shrine item should I go for?

Trophies results are not level depended, you can use them whatever your level with the same quality in average.

For big money, risk for staff. Well, the chance to get a salable staff is slim, but the price is high if you get one.
Personally, I would go for the type that I am using.

If you want a specific potency reach level 5. prepare 50+ amnesia shards. Reset if you cannot get lv5 by gear lv 5.

Expect min 50 shards for lvl 5 potency. Unless you're super duper lucky. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Example, I re-IW'd my estoc for OP5 and it only took 12 shards.
Before that, I IW'd a staff for Econo5 which took 100 shards.

I have luck using this method

Level 1 Get Stat (if not reset)
Level 2 Get Stat (if not reset)
Level 3 Anything
Level 4 Get Stat (if not reset)
Level 5 Anything
Level 6 Get Stat (if not reset)
Level 7-9 Hope for the last Stat

No point in getting lv5 potency if you do not heavily forge the gear.

1m for the potencies you want is a small price to pay. Especially for econo5.. its a must on staves.

redwood of niflehim isn't bad, the matter is the fiery prefix... i don't know if for a mage is good to use two elements, however you may start to search for phase niflehim/surtr armors, especially robe and shoes (which seem your worst pieces to me).
also, you have 11 Mastery Points and 46 AP, you could easily unlock 7-8 slots to use *all* cloth and staff abilities, and also a few others like 'better regen', 'better haste', 'better shadow veil'...

well, i know you can bid millions like there's no tomorrow, but for me 1M is still a big amount of credits, i went beyond it only two times (including the current one, and maybe i'm throwing it away for a certain item at weekly auctions...)
maybe i'd be happy enough with Eco4 (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Wait I thought trophies only allow you to manually select one of the equipment type roll and when it comes to the next stage LotD does affect a little here? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

dunno what you are working on, but don't spend more credits worth of shards than the value of the equipment. or maybe even 3/4 or 1/2 the value.

I sold a few IWed axes with < 200k. Some of them have Butcher Lv5.

I personally think 250 hath is a bit low for a lvl 5 potency. I'm sure you will find someone to work on it at that price, though.

I would rather look for a deal where you supply amnesia shards and pay me a set amount for IWing it.
Say 1-1.5m for my time and you provide the shards. (it could work out in your favor)

The only time i charged more than 1 million to get a potency level 5 on a melee weapon (including shards) it was to get a peerless lvl 10, but hey it's all luck actually.

Adding on to Scremaz's post, I'd also say you shouldn't bother with PFUDOR at your level. It gets increasingly easier to survive on high difficulties as you get stronger. Absolutely spend those ability points too.

It's 25c/pxp in my shop so it often comes out cheap, still usually people send me shards.

Edit: Hmm if i calculate right it's about 500k+ credits per hour in credits for me.
