i run shade + mace of slaughter, boulay heavy plate + mace of slaughter, drakewyn runs mace of illithid, brewdonkey runs niten + shade...
and that's only the first names that come into my head, where exactly did you search? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

One-handed is the current melee flavor of the month...or game version, rather. It will probably roll back over to Two-handed sooner or later.

almost no one sticks with 1 style but there are some with a preference for 2H. Ichy and xtech have fully forged estocs. buktore has a pretty awesome mace. wolfgirl had a great estoc before switching to mace. i'm sure there are still people still around from the days when estoc was OP and everyone had one but no one else come to mind

x'quse me? Whddaya mean by "full phase mage"?

Anyway, if you mean the "Holy Sword" stance, phase armanents won't do as a armor; you'd be dead in an instant. no, you'll need shielding heavy armors.

What the setup should I aim for with a shielded 1H stance?

I can play on IWBTH with Ex rapier + Ex forceshield + full phase, its just really really slow to kill enemies.


60% MMI/PMI 48% evade, 38% block + 38% parry + 40% resist.

Its just really suboptimal and slow, but it somewhat works as something different.

Shade has higher attack damage, and higher defense.

Use magic instead of melee by that setup. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Not that slow, but the mp will run out fast.

Full phase do works, especially with high block shield.
I have a set Hallowed Rapier of Battlecaster + Force Shield + Phase of Heimdall and play as battle mage (or holy melee, whatever it is called (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)).
I can't do DWD with it on PFUDOR and slow when MP is insufficient, but who cares? It's really fun for me and "fighter who uses magic" is always a romance of mine. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

not randoms, only the ones i'm sure about what they use (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) however you have already been answered:

every style has its pros and its cons (as you and others were trying to guess in the previous page), so it's pretty obvious everyone try to assemble quite a few sets to find the better one(s) for him/her... (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

I have 5 of them: DW+(incomplete)shade arcanist, niten+power (almost)never use but it's useful since equiped gears raise their stats with each passing levels ^^, rapier+power (for IW), mace+heavy plate (all arenas except SG) and a shitty mage set with phase of freyr that I randomly dropped, mostly to raise magical proficiency ^^

I have been playing 1H exclusively for almost 3 months now (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) And I do pretty much everything with it, PFUDOR Arena, PFUDOR IW, Hell/BTFest

The problem with 2H is that it has very slow SG clear, so people will play with DW or 1H to do it more efficiently. Also its PFUDOR non-sg clear is not any better, if not worse, than 1H + OFC spam

A nerf to monster parry/evade needs to happen first (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) Probably a similar mechanism to resist... Due to melee's dependence on overcharge and weapon proc, even a small hit will be much better than no hit at all

0 Burden is the main reason most people use Shade aside from the atk power it gives.

So, what's the difference between 0 burden and >70 burden?
I could see many people were struggling to lower down their burden to below 70. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)
