Weaken: decrease enemy's damage (25-50% depends on Better Weaken Ability), and keep them from making critical attacks.
Imperil: decrease enemy's PMI/MMI (25-50% depends on Better Imperil Ability), and specific resistance (10-40% depends on Better Imperil Ability)

That's what I said... if you use Light armor, Weaken is better for you. If you use Heavy armor (like I do), Imperil is better for you.

I would also say that Imperil is better for 2h users, since multiple imperil'ed monsters can get hit at the same time with splash damage.

I am not sure Weaken is better for Light armour in general, it certainly seems more effective in 1H Shade than DW Shade. Facing off against the big apex rank mob, I can end up healing half dozen times or more with DW but with 1H, 2 or 3 times is about the most for Cure application. Once I bring up my 1H prof high enough, I think I will try 2H Heavy since my original intention was to play Niten in both Heavy and Light.

If you're not a mage Debuff is bad for your mana endurance, because of resist.

*shrug*. My mana endurance is rarely an issue... but then again, I don't play PFUDOR much.

If you're not playing PFUDOR, why the hell do you even need debuff? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/duck.gif)

I don't use any debuffs now except IWBTHfest/PFUDORfest with 1H rapier.
But Weaken was my best friend to beat DwD PFUDOR when I was at lv 320~350s. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
BTW Imperil would be helpful with 2H mace or Niten, though.

Only imperil in the last round. It's bad generally for my mana sustain. Having no counter-resist and being heavy don't help either .

weaken is better than imperil. imperil works until the mobs affected are dead. You're better off casting weaken on troublesome mobs and finishing off the rest, if you're expecting some trouble in the round. Since it also negates crits, it's helpful for defend, refreshing buffs, focusing, other recovery stuffs, when all the other mobs are dead.

I only use imperil on guys who won't die against spirit stanced OFC (bosses, schoolgirls, etc).

I cast weaken and sometimes imperil on REs though, just to get some prof (hopefully), waste turns and get counters to build OC for OFC.

My DW/Light set still needs work, so I'll use weaken when too many mobs are putting me in the red (pfudor).

If you really need to grind some DW/light, you can go club/waki for high safety, and use imperil.

thanks all. just tried out weaken & it's awesome. saved a lot of Spirit from spirit shield & mana on cures.

i can't believe it took me 311lvs to start using debuffs. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Don't think so, but http://ehwiki.org/wiki/HentaiVerse_Advice#Picking_Your_Role , http://ehwiki.org/wiki/Play_Styles and http://ehwiki.org/wiki/Fighting_Styles give a decent overview imho.

On another topic, i just got to LotD 13 and IWBTH and i seem to have hit a breakpoint for drops.
This round of arenas i already got 6-7 Exq (all crappy but meh) which is more than i got before with LotD 12 and BT in a week.
Are there any more notable known breakpoints for drops? Iirc LotD 12 and PFUDOR seems to be another/the same one.

from what i've read by lurking:

18: start getting regular exq and a few mag at PFUDOR

21-23: start getting more mag with a occasional leg at PFUDOR

24: good things happen

25: bad things happen

I generally only have a small amount of time to play, so I do the two Schoolgirl arenas and Imperil the SGs when they show up. It really speeds up my finish time.

Using 2h+Power for SGs, 1h+Power for hourlies.

Can someone double check this for me: MMI reduction aside, imperil is pretty much useless on target with 3 stacks of Penetrated armor, or does it further reduce the target PMI to 0?

If it's the latter, Imperil might be worth using in SG (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/duck.gif)

3 stacks of PA to 1%, imperil + PA to 0. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Any different? I dun think so. Well, you save the time to stack 3 PA. But you need 1 turn to cast imperil.

However, imperil also reduce their specific mitigation. So, I can use elemental weapon to kill SG faster with imperil.

Speaking of which, what's so special about Noodle Appendages anyway? I know that it takes 5 Token of Blood to challenge the Flying Spaghetti Monster, but what it's supposed usage for it to be sold at 60k credits anyways?

Also, totally silly question out of concern from a certain conversation, but does the equipments with vampire suffix turns you into a (full-cure-kills) zombie or anything?

The Noodly Appendage is a trophy, just like the Mithra's Flower. It (and the Platinum Ticket from the toplists) has the highest loot quality bonus and tier multiplier of all the trophies, so it offers the best chance at getting something nice from the Shrine. People with money to burn buy up a bunch and turn them in; they're basically just gambling.

The Vampire suffix does nothing like that; it just has a chance of absorbing a small amount of HP per hit. It's pretty useless.

But according to the wiki,

http://ehwiki.org/wiki/Equipment_Procs

PA reduces to 25%, though when I don't feel any difference in Vital Strike damage between Imperil + PA and just PA. Casting imperil just for the specific mit is not worth the mana cost imo, especially since I'm using holy + dark infusion in SG, and I don't have points in holy/dark imperil

Is it possible to obtain Legendary-grade equipment from shrining them in?

Better a "pretty useless" weapon than a useless weapon that turns your own cure spell into a "click X to die" spell.

A few more questions, about the Niten-ichi ryu, is it possible to ensure 100% and above domino and offhand strikes and how? Also, does the offhand strikes gets a domino effect as well?
