Even with these power gauntlets instead of the plate in my sig, my damage is only 6105. Needless to say I lack forging. A Lot. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Better than mine. In fact I'm using a balance hand. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
Your lack in damage should be due to your weapon. Change it to a slaughter one should be better, at least you do not need to worry about forging.

If you need to survive with a nimble weapon. You better get a forge shield with L_max blocking. 5-6M should be enough, which is similar to forge the ADB by 20 times.
I have got 7k+ even with balance and plate.

imo, it'll be nice if there's crits for counters. though, how did you manage that with plate gear. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

it's still a lot better than mine. currently my damage is merely 4328 with a mix of power balance/protection gear. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

i'd imagine something in the 5000-7000 range?

Considering that your axe has 600 more base damage than my rapier, and the level difference, that seems about right (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Also, imo 1H axe sounds would be better with shade than it's with heavy

Well my main weapon (which is listed in my sig) is a slaughter rapier, but its damage is rather low so I don't want to add bindings into it. I desperately want a new one, but the rapiers in auctions either suck or are too good for my pocket. >.<

I have been and still running in my 3 slaughters, 1 plate and 1 balance heavy set.

I expect to make enough credit for about 20 slaughter bindings after next week. Should I put the bindings on this rapier or hold on to my precious and wait for a good slaughter rapier to pop up?

IMO, binding of slaghter to nimble weapon is a waste, even if it has lmax WD. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

good, enjoy it then. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

It's easy. Axe in main hand, balance shortsword in off hand to get as much off hand strike as possible. More than 90% is overkill and you get that from the bazaar. Put two infusions on each weapon, and void the axe for extra hit chance. This works on normal and hard. Above that, too many monsters start taking more than one hit to kill and you'll have to watch your life bar.

You can clear the entire first page of arenas before the infusions run out if the site isn't lagging.

If you have zillions to waste on forging, you can keep raising the difficulty. We know Cats Lover does 8k with one hand so it shouldn't be too hard to figure out the maximum one-shottable difficulty with two hands.

so so, back to pfudor... anyway on this difficulty you might 1 shot only with OFC and giants/drago/undead/bugs
still need pa/imperil on them... to do so. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
if you just pa them, even this takes some turns, all in mind if lucky, that they dont annoy you with parrys from a 2hand point of view. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I think the rapier in your signature is not bad.
My rapier is not as good as yours but I think I will forge it a bit after I IW it to Lv10.

1H axe with heavy is quite good in Hellfest. It allow me to 1 hit KO rather often. It also give me better chance to kill top monsters by OFC in PF.
Whenever I use light (both leather or shade), I use longsword.

I was wondering if leveling up a weapon in Item World depends on the selected difficulty level.

If not, it can be convenient level up in IW at Normal difficulty, the lowest, for having quickly a powerful weapon.

Or maybe higher difficulty levels in IW are different in dropped items and experience from for example Grindfest?

sure, it's really different.
apart from the drops, also the PXP gained and the powerlevel of monsters is different: wiki
this means that higher difficulty levels will surely be less easy to clear, but will also gain more points, so they will need more rounds: just for example, if you would be able to do Nightmare IW you will find monster with double the HP than normal, but also half the number of times you should clear the match to finish.
btw, what is the equip you are trying to level?

Sorry it seems I was not clear in my first post.

Of course I know different difficulty levels have different monsters strength, but I was referring to the resulting weapon.

Hypothetically, if I get the same weapon and I level up it in IW at Normal, it will become the same as if I level it up in Pfudor?

yes, yes. the potency you gain is chosen randomly among a series of possible ones for your equip, so there's no reason to think that difficulty level can change what you obtain. or at least, i don't know a reason for it (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
however i tried it too at your level and believe me - normal could be safe but it's also a great pain in the ass...

Well, from a logical point of view, upgrading a weapon in a more difficult level takes more effort, so the reward should be proportionally bigger.

If it is not the case, lowering the difficulty of the game can be a shortcut for having better weapons in an easy way.

Even if the gain is slight, like with pants or shoes, there is no motive for not doing it.

It is always fighting. 100 rounds of Grindfest or 100 rounds of Item World, always experience and loot.

what you call 'proportionally bigger reward' are: less overall time (and stamina) spent on it, more weapon prof and better drop rolls that higher difficulties give you (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Higher difficulty gives more potency experience, so the weapon can be leveled faster.

In term of loot, GF is always better than IW due to the former's 2nd roll for crystal. Arena is better than IW because of the former's clear bonus. So yeah, there's no reason to do IW unless you really want your item to be lv 10...

In the case of GF, I still have no idea which of Hellfest, BTfest, IWBTHfest or PFUDORfest is more profitable (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)

I reckon you guys should increase the "new player" restriction, maybe to lv. 200 or even lv.250

There's really not that many -lv150 players...

Actually the inventory restrictions only apply when battling - no new items will be dropped. Thing is, we don't battle with that account so there is actually no issue (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) The only limitation is our PCs handling the growing item lists without the scripts crashing (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) So don't panic! i have 32GB of ram t play with I won't be crashing any time soon (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
