This question is to the high level 1H-ers out there, in particular Colman and Cats Lover.

Have you tried IWBTH Grindfest with 1H? How viable is it? If yes then how far can you go? How long does each run take? How is the drop (crystal/equip/artifact)?

I see thats indeed a huge advantage

Seems like I need a good 1H weapon first.
1.So Should I go with Shield or without ?
2.Which 1H weapon is the best suited for that?
3.I guess I should use Heavy armor or is it possible to play that style with light too?
Which is better and why?

By the way wont I run out of Spirit points if I use Spirit stance + Spirit Shield all the time??

1. Rapier of Slaughter. If your budget is not enough, you can also use axe of slaughter.
2. See Shield 1 in my signature.
3. You can mix power slaughter with plate of protection.

Seems like its not that easy to get a Force Shield they ssems to be rare.

So how is the basic tactic with this style for the arena?
1.How do I start the turn?
2.Which Abilities to use (Silence, Spirit Shield, Weaken etc.)?
3.How do I recover mana?
4.How do I prevent to lose up all the Spirit Points?
I mean if you use the Spirit Stance all the time + maybe Spirit Shield you will run out of Spirit points quite soon or not??

My problem is that I would either run out of mana or spirit points(especially with Sprit Shield) in the higher rounds.
If I use Spirit stance all the time there wont be any OC left for focus.
And if I dont use it the monster will do me more damage so that I have to heal non stop.

In arena up to LV200 (T & T), spirit should not be an issue. If you run out of mp/sp, it mean your attack power is not enough.

Sent you the force shield. It's crappy, but still have base block roll equal to the SUPMax buckler of barrier. I think you will have money for much better shield in a few days.

Would this Shield be enough?Exquisite Mithril Kite Shield of the Barrier I know it hasnt the Block Chance of an Force Shield but I think it will do the job.

Well the first problem is that I dont have 15 slots but just 10 so that would make 5 pots and 5 spirit pots.

Ok so lets say the fight starts I activate Protection, Spirit Shield and Regen and Haste.
With that on I try to max my OC. If its maxed out i go Sprit Stance and try to use it all the time??
So I basically dont use OC to regenarate mana ??

I tried the Arena with 25 rounds now(on PFUDOR ofc) and with this tactic I already had to use 2mana potions and 2 spirit potions before I even reached round 15. I mean they give me so much damage(if without silence) that i have to use heal quite often. And the Spirit Shield uses up Spirit Points too.
But my biggest problem is the mana I cant cast everything all the time otherwise I would run out of mana quick.
I tried to cast Haste, Protection, Regen, Spirit Shield and Heartseeker(without using mana for Heartseeker ofc) and if I use the Spirit Stance all the time how am i supposed to recover it?
+ the damge they give me is hard to handle at the start of the round its impossible for me to handle it wihtout using cure whihc drains mana too.....

I normally use spirit stance when my OC > 50, if there are 5 or more enemy. Or wait until OC > 200 when there are 4 or less enemy.
If your mp run out fast, it mean your attack power is not high enough.
I think it is hard to maintain your OC during spirit stance with your shield. Try to get one with Exq max block. It should be cheap (100k-).
And you need endure a few days until your 1H proficiency reach your level.

I think only the axe is worth IW. The rapier is not too bad, but 3 turn PA .......
You can IW both when you have time.
I spend most of the time in IW something useless anyway.

They are both worthy of IW'ing I think, at least up to 5-6 levels, which is quick.

I would use the rapier and the axe for high and low difficulties, respectively.

edit: actually malkatmp, I can IW one of those for free up to level 5. What potency are you hoping for? But you'll have to give me till the end of the day, I have to go to work now. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

People recommend force shields cuz they have the highest block, which makes it easier to go full slaughter. You can supplement with old shield armor, or newer shielding plate if your block isn't high enough. Dude if you're taking too much damage right off the bat, then it's the same as it was before all these changes, and same for all melee builds; it means either 1:you need more levels, 2:need more offense, 3:need more defense. 1 and 2 tend to be harder to immediately correct, so try adding some defense. Get more "of protection" pieces instead of warding. Keep that shield armor piece on.

And it's gets easier to do once you have an adequate amount of 1h prof. You need 200 1h prof to be able to use it effectively.

Dunno how many credits you have available but you can go to trainings and train pack rat for even more potion slots now. Also train Ability points if you need them.

For shorter arenas, it's fine to spam heal potions on top of regen. You just need to figure out how many slots you need to give to mana and spirit first.

you can check my sig, shop has some cheap power armor, and an near ex-max force shield.

The other thing to note is your 1h skill (if you're doing 1h right now).

If it's below 100, don't bother with PFUDOR. Heck, I'd wait until at least 175 proficiency before going PFUDOR.

Ok everyone thanks for the answers and for the help.

I think I now know everything I should know.
First of all I will try to get a good Rapier and probably some armor with Power of Slaughter or plate of protection.
And I will work on the prof for my 1H till its at least over 150.

The hardest thing will probably be to get a good Rapier and Force Shield for a good price (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif).
