Does that apply to mages? I still use spark of life as my def is pretty crap but I can heal off most damage.

At least in arenas, you want to have both Spark of Life and Spirit Shield active. Almost every time I play, there is always the odd turn where I go from full health to nothing, despite having Spirit Shield on.

Okay call me stupid but my mind got to thinking..
Is there even light armor of slaughter?

All I have ever seen was power slaughter and plate slaughter.
If there is no light armor of slaughter why not?

Nope, there's none. The best you get is savage shade of shadowdancer, which give bonus to critical chance and critical damage but still give extra damage around 100-200 (base 4-6). That's the disadvantage of using light armour, you cannot get a damage bonus as high as the one power armour gives.

And power of balance would give more give more crit chance, crit damage, and damage bonus than shade of shadowdancer. Now it's a wonder why nobody is selling/auctionning power of balance T.T

Heck 1 or 2 piece of power balance could be useful for 2H, since the best way to counter parry, besides stun, is crit

Okay cause I got to thinking I have never seen one. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
I know I have heard shade can be crappy sometimes.
why power slaughter is insane on price.
I can't even start to count the amount of power slaughter I gave out in my shop that was superior.

Never had one drop for me or show up in the bazaar. I remember someone saying they had 60 interference when they were introduced so I never looked back. I'll try shopping around for one in the forums. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I only play pfudor. Hentai monsters aren't fast enough to be threatening.

I thought proficiency stopped giving +damage? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Old battlecaster can make up for some of the damage, but the loss is mostly felt against highly-resistant, non-imperiled targets.
I've been gearing for one element and spamming tier 1 (and tier 3 when the spike shield procks) since it doesn't waste as much mana when the enemies roll their dreaded resists. If I use only tier 3s, what is the optimal amount of elements to gear for? If I had godly gear I'd use holy/dark but in this patch, it doesn't seem good enough over elemental to justify the higher cost and slower casting.

When I need mana, I just holy at the beginning of the round, drain and keep moving. No time lost. I only have tier 2 so sometimes I have to holy twice. Even without the ether effect, the secondary regen keeps me from having to use more cures or other depricating spells, so I SURE HOPE TENBORO FIXES BETTER DRAIN SOON HINT WINK NUDGE

This strategy lets me do a little of both without being too strong. And I hate the new resist mechanic. I'd have to buy a new stick as well, since I only have old ones. These are probably my best three:
Exquisite Ebony Staff of the Elementalist
Superior Shocking Willow Staff of Destruction
Exquisite Redwood Staff of Destruction
What kind of elemental and holy/dark staves can I get for under 500k each?

Haven't thought of that. I may try it with my holy/Dark set + 1H + force shield (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) later ™.

This kind of staff
Magnificent Shocking Redwood Staff of The Elementalist
should be cheaper than 500k, but I cannot be sure.

Assuming I'm doing this right...

[imgur.com] (IMG:[i.imgur.com] http://i.imgur.com/yP1XykCs.png)

Level 28. Started (resumed?) playing a week or so ago. I've read through much of EHWiki's advice page.

I have all fair/average platinum (EDIT: I'm an idiot, I forgot what it was called; it's just plate (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)) armor of protection, and a fair estoc of slaughter. My question is, what quality of equipment should I buy? Protection and slaughter seems like fine choices, but should it be superior or exquisite?

I seem to be able to train level 0 average quality equipment just fine in normal difficulty, and I suspect I wouldn't have many problems with the Item Worlds of superior quality equipment.

I don't want to waste time training equipment that I will throw out later. But I don't want to waste credits, so I haven't been doing things like purchasing equipment to see how well I can train it. I also don't know how long it will take me to become able to train the next higher quality of equipment, either, so for all I know, it could make more sense to wait until I gain a few more levels and then spend much of my money on a higher quality equipment. If I could sell items back for the sale price, I'd experiment more.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Don't bother with Item World for now.

Just sent you 4 pieces of Superior Plate of Protection that I had; been meaning to send it to wolfgirl but she's not taking stuff at the moment so you can have it.

You should check her thread too for a decent 2-hander or whatever build you wannna go.

Thanks for the response and the gifts. There's a lot I don't understand about this game. I guess I should probably lurk a bit more and see what other people are talking about. Just earlier today, finding out that difficulty settings can multiply EXP was a major revelation to me. I'll definitely check out that thread. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

IIRC, You can't miss/get blocked/parried/resisted/evaded if you roll a crit. I think I read it somewhere on the wiki a long time ago. Can't find it now, so I have no idea if it's still there or has been changed >.>

FIrst stop is going to be Wolfgirl's free shop to get a decent weapon and armor (just remember her daily limits - read the posts in her thread to be certain!). If you want to send me all your old things by mooglemail I'll pay you 15k each (sounds like they're really old so might be collectors items or they might be worth nothing at all lol - I'm willing to take that gamble).

If there's a particular weapons type you're interested in, let me know I might have something you can borrow or have depending on value (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) 2h or 1h and shield is probably best at low levels

While I won't disagree with you, 500k for anybody not running H@H or who doesn't have lotd 20+ (and a heck of a lot of real luck too) is a good sum of money. Going a couple of small steps down from "perfect" can save a huge sum as you're not competing with all the giants who have millions in their back pockets.

I've got scavanger 40, lotd 18, quartermaster 11 and always play at pfudor. Out of my last 175 drops, these are all I've had at exquisite level or above:
Exquisite Agile Leather Boots of Protection
Exquisite Leather Breastplate of Warding
Exquisite Leather Gauntlets of Stoneskin
Exquisite Leather Gauntlets of Warding
Exquisite Onyx Plate Helmet of Protection
Exquisite Plate Cuirass of Stoneskin
Exquisite Plate Sabatons of Warding
Exquisite Ruby Leather Breastplate of Deflection
Exquisite Wakizashi of Balance
Exquisite Wakizashi of Swiftness
Exquisite Zircon Leather Breastplate of Deflection

I won't even link them... but I think just from looking at the list there is nothing there worth anything at all - these went over to wolfgirl (or will do shortly), the rest went into the bazaar. All I will say is "thank goodness for my H@H farm" or I'd never afford anything in this game lol! I think I just have really poor luck overall >_>

It's always a good sum of money, but it's also a good investment. Rather than jumping through starter -> 500K -> 1M -> 1.5M -> 2M, it's more efficient if you just save more and get the 2M stuff. Of course, I won't suggest 'perfect' equips like the 50M staffs, but some good few million should be within reach for most players even if they only go through all the daily arenas.

So true, I'd like to see TenB implement a system where the more you grind in a day, the higher the rewards which resets daily and also a toplist that give out rewards for the hardest grinders like the other toplists.

I think the current system is putting pure grinders like me at a slight disadvantage.

I hate the current mentality that thinks that "you don't donate money, you don't give bandwidth, you're a leecher" as if we're some lower caste member and not welcome here.
