Shade is really weak to Pierce and since you get hit a lot more when using 1H+Shield

shade + 1H + shield is the style where you are hit the less, you get high evade and resist from shade. You get the maximum boost to DEX as well so parry shall be reasonable. You have all four defensive stats appart from PMI/MMI higher than other styles. The problem of shade + 1H is that decent shade is a lot more expensive than decent plate so plate + 1H have a better investment to gain ratio.

The next best battlecaster suffix I've got has about a 17% mana reduction so I'm actually not sure if the 20% is high or low - that would be the deciding factor in how much it's worth (as well as if two people wanted it lmao) Any thoughts are appreciated

I'd love to own that Estoc but my love for battlecaster weapons make me a bad judge for it's worth. That's a lotery estoc so I would offer it to the guys that made the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th places. i.e. aizenteppa, Robbie Pie, Treesion and watisthis. (in theory) They were interested enough to buy a huge amount of tickets.

(I'm sure Treesion have a couple of millions to spare, he won cat's lotery with a 30m bid)

Which, IMO, explains why Leg. shades are so significantly expensive than Mags.

Want a good Mag. shade? 200-700k
Want a good Leg. shade? 2m-7m

Sometimes I wonder if I should just buy mags. and forge them instead.

I haven't played 1H yet but with every intention of doing so, I started IW'ing this rapier. I am now nearing the end of the IW'ing the rapier but I might end up with Butcher1 only. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/anime_cry.gif) Anyway, when I am done with it, I can lend it to you if you'd like (I won't put away DW until I do DwD in PFUDOR and then onto Niten).

Still shadowdancer and fleet. Though you should check the stats before any purchase.

^Quality is more important than suffix for shade, it is not a case where 1 stat dominates like with, say, estoc. Best third breastplate (in melee defense and offense) I've seen is Negation

Man, I look at peoples' gear and think I must be doing something wrong... level 272 and I've never even seen a Magnificent, let alone Ethereal prefix or Legendary...

If you want to see Magnificent and higher, you need to satisfy 2 conditions :

1) Have high LoTD ( preferably maxed )
2) Play at high difficulty ( PFUDOR if possible )

I get some Magnificent piece every now and then with my 21 lvl LoTD, but most of the time it's nothing special.

also with 2H i found a good behaviour, it gave me a nice boost to many stats... as for piercing, spamming Haste and keeping an eye at defensive spells as protection or SoL and defeating first monster with that damage i've yet to die since i've switched set (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Holy Kacholy! Those are much better than what I've got. Heck, that club is almost as good as my old Mace (I've got a much better Mace now for 2H use). I'm trying my Waki right now and the extra damage & parry seems to be making up for the stun from my club.

For practicing Deprecating proficiency. Plus, it's got good resist without the weaknesses of Negation. Besides, the two Magnificent pieces I bought (rather than the Exq I looted), I got for 10 & 20k.
I do have a Power set that I use with 2H-Mace. I use that most of the time, since my 1H skill is still below 80. It's a mixture of Exq Protection & Mag Warding. I switched out my Prot. leggings for Sup Slaughter and, I don't know if it was just bad luck, but I was taking a bunch more damage!

If you do not care if the club is not ethereal, this kind of club is common.
This kind of axe also hardly exceed 100k for a non-IWed one in auction.

Without +resistance, your monster can hardly reach PL800+. I think the current popular monsters I face are all 1000+.
Also, your monster will be one-shot by mage.

Keep in mind that primary crystals increase monsters' PL faster than resistance ones. Besides, unchaosed monsters are swept under the carpet in no time ( if not one shoted ), so if you think about making it strong, chaos it to the max.

Is this estoc actually worth something? Normally I'd see "battlecaster" and only consider donating it to wolfgirl but looking closer that 20% mana reduction might make a difference...?
