I've been wondering about what suffix to have for a rapier. Nimble, slaughter and balance all seem good and I can't choose which one.

DW off-hand uses either balance (for crit and off-hand strike) or nimble (for survivability), rapier on DW main-hand is rather weak

1H should either go with slaughter for pure damage (good for spamming special skill) or balance for crit (to proc PA and overwhelming strike faster). Nimble in theory should be good for survivability, which you don't really need any more if you have a good shield, and 1H's main issue is always not killing fast enough, not surviving.

More relevantly, I officially can't clear arena's anymore. I feel like I power leveled too much and now the most recent arena (whatever the 165 one is) literally shat on me come round 66/80. I was out of pots, mana, and had nothing to do but flee ): Any suggestions?

Try lowering your difficulty. Don't even bother with IWBTH, or even BT arena pre-200.

I mean Real Life RoB fucked me up good and I learned my lesson to never do any of those again, but I was hoping to clear just 80 rounds of To Kill a God on Normal. Either I got INCREDIBLY unlucky, or I'm (more likely) doing something 100% wrong. Any further suggestions?

P.S. I've been told my proficiencies are pitifully low for my level (67.63 for 2h and 92.63 Heavy, my highest). Might this be the source of my troubles?

For melee DW (axe main, rap off) user, would you prefer leather protection armor set or shade fleet / shadowdancer armor set?

I'm sorta using mixed sets (light/kelvar/shade) >_>

Nah prof is not an issue for those arena at normal difficulty. Heck not even gears are an issue for normal difficulty (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif). What buffs do you use and what kind of potions did you bring? If for some reason you don't use Haste, Protection, Shadow Veil, Regen or Heartseeker, or not bring at least 7 Greater mana potions, then do it. Also, cast buffs in spirit stance.
