I've never really had much problem with the game playing as a mage, but now I just want to be able to get credits faster so I thought it would be time to finally ask.


I know my character is very unbalanced, but I'm not certain where to best invest the experience points, keeping it on intelligence has been good so far and with the difficulty on normal and I can clear a round in one/two hits.

Any advice regarding gameplay as a mage, how to proceed forward, really anything is appreciated!

Your Wisdom should be as high as your Intelligence. These are the most important stats for a mage. Agility and Endurance are also very important; keeping them behind Intelligence and Wisdom by about 30 points or so should be good enough.

You should also get a staff that has the Destruction suffix or (assuming you choose to stay with lightning) the Mjolnir suffix. Something like an Exquisite Shocking Redwood Staff of Destruction/Mjolnir would be perfect for now.

is gaining experience commensurate with gaining credits?

The higher level you get, the more credit/better equipment you can gain (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
The maximum income per day is very limited at your level unless you do some bounty, run H@H or donate.
And for mages, 310 level could be an important watershed because Imperil get 3 targets without cooldown.

Try to get gear with high EDB and higher int and somewhat decent wis. Then try to mage on as high a difficulty as you can.

God no, don't do that. you need mag+ highly forged gear to have some kind of chance with holy/dark. Just stick with elemental.

No, not really. You don't have to switch if you don't want to, and elemental is actually pretty good now. It would be a good idea to decide before you start shopping for high-end equipment and forging; you probably have another 150-200 levels to go before that.

Dark is in a bit of a slump right now, anyway.

Is it any better?

Well, I started to play this last week and I'm at lv 80. The thing is that I can't even get past round 100 on grindfest (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif). I'm using this as a guide for the moment, here are my stats.

Grindfest isn't something you'll get through at level 80... it's not something I'll get through at level 210+...

Well...melees have to think about multiple stats like damage, evade, OC usage, blah blah blah etc...

You don't need to, I'd say. You just need 0CD imperil (lv.310+) and maybe some leveling. I have RR, superior-level holy phase and a great staff (though without MC) and I can still finish T&T on IWBTH without much problem.

The only reason why I didn't say anything in regard to the current states of 1H was to see how long does it take until Tenb realize what he had done to melee as a whole, and later on, how long before he'll do something about it. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif)

My guess would be somewhere around 6 months up to about a year and a half. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/duck.gif)
