About 10. Giving up something so valuable only to get some Superior junk that can be sold for 500 credits put me off, especially when many drops I get from the arenas are far better than that.

You should try 2H for now. You're going to be hit more often but you can go faster.

Any Armor suggestion for 2H? Heavy or Light? Which goes better with it?

If you want to get some cheap leveling equips, go for estoc of slaughter with prefix and leather/plate of protection. I suggest estoc over mace because giant will be a pain in the ass without ethereal. Estoc has the same problem, but at least it has PA.
Remember, it's dirt cheap set for fast grinding.

@Varst:

I did some calculations on my own and in order to have a character that have good odds vs even monsters with both max anti-evade and max anti-parry when using SV, it needs to have:

60% evade and 68% parry, giving it an odd of 0.20064 to be hit by a monster with max anti-evade and max anti-parry, vs a monster with no anti-avoidance, the odds are 0.096, which is almost unhittable.

Okay, so how realistic are these numbers?

My stats:

theoretical chance to get hit with SV on is: 0.2273

without SV it is: 0.3031

giving an average of: 0.2652

My actual chance in battle is: 0.2824

vs a monster with max anti-evade and parry it is: 0.3389

Don't think it's too far off, slaughter on Waki is good, but some would take balance over it. Ethereal is usually the best prefix for melee weapons, but because Wakis have very low Interference and Burden anyway, ethereal is not necessarily needed. 3PAB is alright, Waki used to drop with 4 though. Stats are pretty eh, all under Superior max.

you probably need a mag+ at this point to get break 100k. i just bout a eth / balance waki in gc's last auction for start bid (50K).

there seems to be a lot of wakis available, and they tend to need less stat discrimanation than rapiers.

And can anybody tell me how much worth is Adept Learner Training? Does it really matter in EXP gain?

well we could go numbers, adept 130, hourly random encounter on battletoads 7 or 8 mobs, total exp around 4 to 6 milion depending on the monster pl. dunno if this is relevant or not, but there it is

It's definiitely worth it. You should get it to ~200 asap, it's more like an investment and relatively cheap compared to other trainings. Faster levels also mean faster credits. Iirc I read somewhere that all exp bonuses are multiplicative since not so long ago, so from 0 to 100 will double your experience gain.

just upgrade your gear and forge it + lvl up (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

If I may be blunt, playing Mage pre-310 is a pretty bad idea. Maybe even after that. Simply because maging is not viable on PF at that level, not even after that if you don't have the necessary gears supporting you. What you should be worrying about now is levels. Meleeing PF on 80+ stamina will allow you to level more than 10 times as fast as compared to maging on low difficulty. I would personally suggest you to melee and stay melee till you can dish out tens of millions on forged mage pieces. The competition for mage gears and materials is just too fierce and leave little room for newer players to squeeze in. Supposedly, even if you managed to gather a few mill and got hands on a Mag set, chances are, you still won't be able to survive PF marathons. And that's a place where you actually want to be because it will most likely be your main source of income.

Get to level 310, buy better equipment, and forge your staff. Phase forging is not necessary for arenas on any difficulty.

There might be a chance that if you tweak a few things now, you'll have an easier time doing BT and perhaps be able to increase the difficulty to IWBTH, but 0.76 made maging pretty brutal for low level players.
