QUOTE(kuro009 @ Dec 8 2013, 19:49) *

That's the exact thing that's bothering me. There is the issue of MP cost, is it not? I can figure Fully-Forged Staff with 25% MC, along with 15% MC from Frugal Armors can extend the number of rounds one can play, not to mention the absolutely necessary mana potions for mages extends this even further. But even with all this, ARE THAT MANY ROUNDS ACTUALLY POSSIBLE FOR A "MAGE"??? Especially for "Elemental Mages"? Divine Mages have Soul Fire, which Elemental Mages doesn't. And depending heavily on Coalested Mana is not logical.

Holy mage use much more mp than elemental mage.
And most, If not all, of the holy mage do not use drain for mp.

Edit: typo

Mage can Ether Tap to restore mana.
Holy Mage in particular (or any kind of mage invested in Holy spells, Soul Fire and Ether Theft Drain Augment abilities) can also restore mana using Drain on Burning Soul'ed monsters.
That's why, as long as a mage's damage is high enough to clear the round before the monsters can kill him, he can go on forever.

ChosenUno - a Holy mage - said that he only need to Ether Tap in Grindfest (IWBTH? I don't remember very well); only in PF marathons does he need to use Ether Theft as well.

tl;dr: Elemental Mage can also Ether Theft using Drain on Burning Soul'ed monster. Just need to slot a few abilities.

Okay... I now have 23 Tokens of Blood.

Do I use some on Unicorn runs, or just save them until I hit 200 and start doing FSM runs?

So looking at my stats I realised:

my 24% club gives me a 20.84% chance to stun in actual battle
while my 19% off-hand waki gives me Bleeding wound chance of 31.80%

my 42.2% evade gives a 40.84% while my 51.2% parry gives a 25.41% in actual battle.

Anyone knows how stuffs are calculated by HVSTAT?

The stunning opponent will not stun again, so the actual chance of stun proc is lower.
On the other hand, bleeding wound can stack.

Do not forget critical hit always trigger weapon proc. So bleeding wound (and PA) chance is a combination of critical chance and weapon proc chance.

Oh, I don't know criticals trigger weapon procs too.

So are all these stuffs in the bug list?

Edit:
Oh, and if given the choice:

would you prefer 1 extra point of evade or 5 extra points of parry?

I would prefer 5 points of parry over 1 point of evade.

It simply parse the battle log and show you exactly that.

And so :

QUOTE(LOL50015 @ Dec 8 2013, 19:56) *

my 24% club gives me a 20.84% chance to stun in actual battle
while my 19% off-hand waki gives me Bleeding wound chance of 31.80%

This is because bleed (and PA) can proc over itself repeatedly while stun cannot, you may ended up procing stun far less often than other proc.

QUOTE(LOL50015 @ Dec 8 2013, 19:56) *

my 42.2% evade gives a 40.84% while my 51.2% parry gives a 25.41% in actual battle.

Same thing: Because avoidance stats are roll from top to bottom (evade > block > parry/resist) ... If you have high evade, naturally you going to block or parry the attack less often, and it's show in the log.

BTW, I did this just now... (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif)

What is the advantage/rewards for clearing a hellfest that people always talk about. It seems to be a benchmark for farming.

That's why, as long as a mage's damage is high enough to clear the round before the monsters can kill him, he can go on forever.

"Soul Fire + Ether Theft" combo indeed restore a good amout of mana, but it too has it's limits:
1st, Drain is a Single-Target spell, and it's lowest Cooldown is 15 turns.
2nd, you'll need to keep the monster (on which Drain is applied) alive for 5 turns to steal Mana. Now even if you finish the other Monsters within those 5 turns, you'll have to wait those whole 5 turns to get the max mana from Ether Theft. In that case, those waited turns are a waste. And if you can't finish the other Monsters even within 5 turns, How can you expect to complete Hellfest?

Even though Ether Theft is "100% Sure-to-Happen-Everytime" Proc , Soul Fire is not. So it's not very logical for Elemental Mages.

When I was a (holy/dark) mage (when AoE spell can hit every mobs), MP was never a problem because I mostly played on difficulty that I can one-shot 80%+ mobs and the gem recover most of my mp.
If a single mob is close to death with Coalesced Mana, I would kill it by melee to recover a bit of mp. (killing hit by melee on a target with Coalesced Mana always trigger Ether Tap).

How far I can go in GF is more likely depend on the sp.

edit: not sure is it the same in the current patch.
