I hate burden, who the h on world decide this attribute.
You can have up to 80% PMI with full set of tuned Heavy w/ no evade low parry and crit penalty due to burden.
Meanwhile you can have up to 70% pmi with full set of tuned light w/ high evade,parry and no crit penalty.
Sigh, i love to be a heavy armor melee in many games but did the gamemaster nerf heavy too much?

Unfortunately heavy got nerfed alot in the latest patches. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) That's why I switched over to light melee since the defense stats from my power set feels like glass when playing in the highest difficulty. I guess that it was Tenb's intention to make melees use light armor more than before. I just hope that he won't nerf light as well in a way that playing as a melee in highest difficulty will become even more difficult. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

How relatevely to IW much upgrading my weapon would give EXP? I mean - is it easy to level items with just upgrades?

*What should I do first - lvl item to 10 with IW or first make upgrades (what level will my item be then? 10?) (I don't see any reasonable reasons to reforge a weapon)

You'll need some 15000+ PXP to max a certain equip's potency, and you're getting something like 20-25 PXP per upgrade, so you'll need...around 600+ upgrades. Not impossible, but you'll almost need to max every stats available on the equip in order to get all your PXP through forging.

Also, that's only 1 IW run. Sometimes you want a better result and may go through the IW repeatedly.

You probably shouldn't niten right now because it benefits from both DW and 2H proficienies, which is to say you will need both to get the most out of niten. When you get around level 250 (200?) it will be really easy to level up proficiency, so around that time it'll be better to do niten cuz you could build up both fighting styles.

I know, that's why I'm currently using DW right now--I'm borrowing someone's ethereal weapon for 10 days (almost done with it) and building up the proficiency for DW, and after that I'll be switching to 2H and building that up. I only currently use Niten if I want to run through Item World on a weapon, because the Skyward Sword attack is hilariously useful.

Especially when I can wipe out 5 enemies at once every other round.

Feather is a must for arena and long GF runs. Hellfest is easiest to clear with 1H or a good mage set. You need some very good protective gear if you want to clear with 2H.

First, thanks to everyone who helped me before, especially m118w11 who sent me a much needed upgrade in armor. Tah very much.
Just wanted to post an update. Currently back to kicking ass! I upgraded AGI and WIS as suggested:

Definitely helped a lot, especially the WIS boost as now I can cast a lot more and I gain a lot more mana per turn. I thought about dumping a bunch in INT for the Spirit points, but I'm OK in that department for now.

Would grinding my support proficiency lower that cost? Or should I just focus on getting more mana/using potions?

Weapon skills have a proficiency requirement. You'll need to get your DW proficiency up to 50 before you'll see it.

It wouldn't lower your cost, but it would increase the duration of the spell, which would mean casting it less over the course of long fights. You should have no problem with support proficiency if you're casting your support skills like Haste, Protection and Regen. Definitely get your support proficiency up, as these skills are necessary for survival at the higher difficulties.

Also start grinding deprecating, as they are incredibly useful for the harder boss battles. It would be nice to get it up to 40 proficiency minimum, as that is when silence is unlocked. I made the mistake of fighting IPU without any deprecating skills and ended up getting one-shotted every time.

High PMI is required to clear hellfest unless you cannot one-shot the half of enemies.
1H is the easiest way to beat it coz of its defense. I have never used feather at all when using 1H.

FYI, I do need 1 sp pot per 250 round due to spirit stance alone.
I do not need to heal before round 500 but I still sometimes need mp pot for the regen + heartseek.

I found that 1H is faster than 2H because i can use more power slaughter when using a shield.
I can only use 2 atm, I will make it to 3 after I heavily forge the block of the shield.

Higher difficulty also give more Potency exp per IW clear.

I don't understand. The PXP I've gained per IW clear seems to be static--for example, the club I'm using always has 111 rounds regardless of what difficulty I'm on, be it Normal or Nightmare, and thus when I complete it I get 111 points.
