i didn't bother maging unicorn or FSM, because even with PA my spellls didn't do more than 1,6k. You will run out of mp too fast.
I bleeded those 2 gods to death. I used dual wielding with a high bleed axe and a decent parry rapier, the rapier was not actually meant to do damage, even with pa and infusion i only hitted those things for 150 damage, but for increased damage with poison if PA triggered (200 damage poison (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)).

I have a ethereal rapier, and I have a high bleed axe. I just haven't played in so long that I wanted to try it out as a mage. Gonna stack up some infusions, buy a few soul stones, proc PA+Poison and Bleed. Oh, and godly mana/soul pots. Maybe elixirs too. Now that I'm a mage (and not ability maxed out) my max soul is only enough to support 2 sparks :\

I'm most sad about the 3 wasted tokens.

From what i have read from someone else who tried the gods, the damage with etheral isn't even that great.

It's not, they're resistant to soul (but they're immune to regular physical attacks). And I'd use holy infusions for him anyway. 200,000C is not worth the effort this takes >_<

Tried it. It does 20 damage per turn. Ethereals are overated. Would much rather use my 23% 3/4 turns 12 parry rapier.
Maybe I should put that as my main and equip a shield? I do have a nice axe though (190 3 turns).

edit:

QUOTE(coredumperror @ Jan 25 2010, 01:56) *

Honestly, the only ethereal weapon that would be any good is a high-bleed eth axe. When I was fighting FSM on a test run, the eth weapon I was borrowing from marcho hit for ~35-40 without PA, but only ~45-50 with PA. FSM probably has a Shield rating that's so much higher than PA's -500 debuff that it doesn't make nearly as much of a difference it does on everything else. Therefore, bleed is far better than soul damage because it completely ignores FSM's super-high shield rating, and ...........

178 3 Puff of Logic hits you for 37494 soul damage.
178 2 Flying Spaghetti Monster casts Puff of Logic

All those regular attacks doing 200 dmg. Four Spirit attacks missed, and then this one hit and raped me. Le Sigh. Maybe I'll go DW next time and use an infusion, then I'll just poison and bleed him to death. Probably go faster than 600-1000dmg per 32 mana D:

also i find it odd that FSM can hit you for 200 damage, because FSM did hit me for 250 damage and i don't have acces to the dark rating skills for more dark mitigation

also, shouldn't your regen skills cover most of the 200 damage?

I don't see what the problem is here? Did you expect him to hit me for more or for less?

Yes, that wasn't an issue. The issue was between casting nerf, poison, blind, weaken, etc and my supportive spells I get maybe 10 banishes in, and then I need to get some ether theft to make up for it. It's not efficient.

Just cast Shadow veil and silence (poison if you want to speed up the damage slightly and if you want less misses), bewilder doesn't help you survive his spirit attack and you can survive his skill attack easily because it's dark and physical.
Weaken is not that usefull against him, because the only thing that can actually kill you in 1 hit is his spirit attack. Most of the damage should be covered by your dark mitigation gear and regen.

Having a dark rating means an extra reduction in damage from dark, i expected that you would have took less damage than i did.

I'm many levels higher than you so it's expect he does more dmg (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

It was just all bad doing mage against him lol. I'll DW rapier+axe later. The other real purpose of poison is to slow down his spirit build up. Though if I proc PA first it might actually do some damage.

I had forgotten how long it takes to kill these guys, I did IPU about a year ago xD

Yeah, most people that I know of take >150 turns to kill him. He's a tough cookie (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

i am sure that higher level players like hito can kill fsm using magic, because of their much higher proficiency and better spells and debuffs like nerf.

edit: @tribal
i don't recall reading that someone killed FSM close to 150 turns? More like 300 turns

You can kill them earlier, even below 150 levels, but it takes much longer...

@DemonEyesBob: Don't forget that if you mage, use only cloth mitigation gear, each point of interference reduce 1% magic damage.

And about Eths, they aren't completely worthless. Besides, the enemy's ratings are lower since this release (that's why Gods are easier to kill even without the infusions/scrolls trick).

i haven't killed the gods using magic yet, i killed FSM when level 121 using dual wield. I tried a test run with magic and i ran out of mana eixers on turn 1500 or so and FSM still had 10-15% hp left. (edit: around 80 divine proficiency)

It's permanent boost to quality loot, right ?

"Elemental Rating

Elemental Rating is a stat that is provided by various Auras and Abilities.

* Each % of Rating increases the player's damage dealt by spells of that element by 1%. e.g. 10% Fire Rating = +10% Fire damage. "

Is the effect of rating is applied to spell DMG after adding proficiency to it or how ?

No, the effect is not permanent. It's just on that one item you redeem.

Go lift some weight, build some muscles, not only you'll hit harder, girls will like you. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
Though Eth damage less than infusions, I still do higher damage than that anyway...

785 1 You hit Flying Spaghetti Monster for 377 soul damage.
784 1 You hit Flying Spaghetti Monster for 401 soul damage.
783 1 You hit Flying Spaghetti Monster for 387 soul damage.
848 1 You hit Flying Spaghetti Monster for 492 soul damage.
847 1 You hit Flying Spaghetti Monster for 433 soul damage.

846 1 You crit Flying Spaghetti Monster for 797 soul damage.
850 1 You crit Flying Spaghetti Monster for 595 soul damage.
849 1 You crit Flying Spaghetti Monster for 551 soul damage.

I have +52.7% ADM, 308 Attack rating (@ LV.122) and 340 Overcharge (220+Soulstone) when I fought him last time. Well, I think you can easily see that I have, relative to my LV, quite a big muscle. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

(Yes, I have a whole battle log with me, for use as reference in future, like this situation for example.)

Well, you only get one aura point per 10 levels so that looks right. It does take a point per aura to rank them up, you need to upgrade them individually.
