QUOTE(Oversoul @ Oct 29 2013, 20:53) My current gear criteria is 5-6 stats with Agi/Wis/Int. With emphasis on EVD and EDB. Even with all stats maxed out, 4 stats is just no good in my eyes. This is coming from a newb though :3 I have no idea how to not go oom without proccing every Coalesced Mana I see. Any idea which tier spells Holy/Dark mages spam?
I would recommend you go for elemental. You can see how bad is holy/dark in this page.

QUOTE(Colman @ Oct 29 2013, 14:01) I would recommend you go for elemental. You can see how bad is holy/dark in this page. Well, the main reason why I went Dark/Holy instead of Elemental is because of SGs, I'm only planning to blast through last few Arenas for the coming next year or so and Dark/Holy will be significantly quicker, no?

Hell GF 925/1000 with 2 mp pots left. Hope I can clear it this time. edit: die at 945 with mp pot left (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) . SS is a trap, if I do not use SS, I think I can clear it. I haven't try school girl arena on the highest difficulty with holy. So, i dunno. This post has been edited by Colman: Oct 29 2013, 16:23

QUOTE(nobody_xxx @ Oct 29 2013, 21:14) uno and GC are top tier holy/dark mages in HV (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) maybe only HTTP have better holy magic score / set than uno in HV (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) but even them change into elemental now (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) so what's the best elemental now? im guessing wind at the moment? my elem prof was left at 150+ when I reached holy/dark combo ages ago

just use one elemental you like most (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) there no much difference between them ( wind have advantage with konata ) (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) since I don't playing HV anymore , what will happen to my mobs now (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif) I need some happy pill donation now (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif) This post has been edited by nobody_xxx: Oct 29 2013, 16:51

why focus? I use heavy armor +staff in school girl arena to grind staff prof (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) . Cloth prof do not require grinding. It go up fast as long as you cannot one-shot everything. @nobody_xxx it is just 1k each. This post has been edited by Colman: Oct 29 2013, 16:53

I said Forbidden prof, not Staff/Cloth prof. :3 Focus so I can cast more spells while dealing least dmg as possible. I'll need to level my staff prof later though, so just go normal SG Arena and kill everything with staff? lol

Do not use focus staff (and don't even use staff). Go with heavy armor will grind faster (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) . The chance for prof go up scale with mp consumption. This post has been edited by Colman: Oct 29 2013, 17:03

This was written on wiki: ''When grinding magic proficiencies it is recommended to use a weapon with as much mana conservation as possible.'' So it's wrong?

SS is a trap, if I do not use SS, I think I can clear it. You should try using Spirit Theft then. It should prove to be pretty effective to restore your SP, especially if you have been seeing more Mana gem and Channeling gem drops than you need.

You need to balance. wearing anything other than clothes can reduce base mana -> increasing chance for prof, however lower base mana -> less spells per run for high cost So I recommend light armor

It is outdated. In the old day, every spell have equal chance to raise the prof. The current system is changed to scale with mp cost/base mp. So, I would recommend you not to use staff (for low damage) and use heavy (for high mp consumption). But it is more efficient if the mp pot can recover as fast as your sp consumption for easier "R" spam T1 spell. @Kagoromo I think further upgrade my shield and find a better weapon is a more realizable solution. The change in shield (from shield 2 to shield 1 in my sig) make I use 2 mp pots less at round 925. A few more upgrade in block should save 1-2 mp pots as well. Than i can have more sp pot. It really depends on the situation. When your prof is low, you'd like to use mana-saving equips so to maximize the number of times you get a prof gain vs MP cost. But then when you're getting more prof, the prof gain rate will slow down, and you should change into light (then heavy) in order to minimize the time to grind prof at the expense of high mana cost.

Thanks guys. Kind of relieved I don't have to train prof with squishy cloth. :3
One last thing, wiki recommends normal difficulty for magic prof grinding, is this correct or outdated too?

If you can survive in IWBTH item world, it is better because you can cast reg, T1 spell, then press R for a while.

You don't really need to grind offensive spell prof. Depreciating prof may require a bit spamming, but nowadays people incorporate imperil into their strategy so I doubt if it worths the time and effort.
