wiki doesnt really tell us how much sp we get per draining turn and I expected the sp gain to be extremely small...

I'm interested now, how can you use Spirit Theft if you are playing as 1H? Do you slot abilities and cast Dark spells in battle just so that you could proc Burning Soul for Drain?

FYI, I do not use ss and SoL. Spirit is only for the forever spirit stance. Spirit theft is good, but I do not want to stop as 1h for hundreds of rounds is already so slow.

Some people do that, and it's a pretty good strategy if you have the patience for it. Exactly as you described it actually, slot dark abilities and spirit theft, cast dark spells and drain a monster with ripened soul.

Yes, my forbidden proficiency is over 200, so I can cast Ragnarok. I had a hard time to get the proficiency (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
The probability to get Sprit Theft is 40% with Ripened Soul 2 lvl.
In other words, I'm converting 164 MP (119 for Ragnarok, 45 for Drain) MP into 200+ SP.

The amount of SP drained depends on the remaining SP of the target monster, maxed out for 5% of Base Spirit.
If the target monster's SP is over 60~70%, it drains 5% SP of Base Spirit per turn in most situation (by my experience)
My Base Spirit is over 600 and the amount of SP drain per turn is 30~31 per turn.
Spirit Theft lasts 7 turns, so 200+ SP is recovered in my case.

Of course, the target should not be killed until Spirit Theft expires (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Must be because you are wearing light armor with high resist chance that you don't have to use SS and SoL. My heavy set (and my SP bar, if not my HP bar) get pierced right through when Celestia Lindwurm, Akroma, Memphis Linesword, Kazane Hiyori, Aoi Phoenix, Cicco, Bottle Fairy, Yui Die Fee, Sugar Winter, Heartiels and recently Tsukiko Tsutsukakushi (goddamnit her name is hard to read even for someone studying Moonrunes like me) decide to team up and gank my butt. The only mobs I remember are those of that HTTP guy. Everything hits me less than 5k, then suddenly his pet shows up and randomly crits me for 13k. So from that point, every time I see his pets, it's instant focus.

Fibre and I fear/I do not fear armies should qualify instant focus as well.

try one handed, you will feel a lot safer even in PFUDOR.

I just cannot do the legendary PFUDOR IW atm because of the massive amount of dmg the crit-spells/abilities do to my spirit, not my hp it never failed below 50% unless all monsters crit their spells (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif), and lack of my spirit potions. I think I'll unlock more IA and just use all spirit pots:)
