Is it worth it?

I currently have 2 slots, and I have enough hath for a 3rd. As a mage, it really isn't hard to get channeling to pop up, so is it worth the cost of autocasting vs using a channeling to cast shield/haste/shadow veil, which not only makes it zero cost but extends its duration by 50%?

if i am not mistaken, doesn't the higher levels of innate arcana also reduce the upkeep costs? I think it's better, even if you don't use the 3rd slot.

I say no. I've only ever had the first slot (mostly used for the proficiency gain if anything) and that's been fine for me. Nothing is really worth using except SV once you get to a high enough level.

Haste become useless because of the 200 action speed cap, shield meh, so SV is the only thing actually worth to keep it. I don't see any problem at all with MP supply as mage.

I never understood the appeal of autocast since it innately eats mana and there's no way to turn it off mid-battle. Casting with Channeling is free and more effective anyway. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

This is my current katana, its at about my level and pretty good. Yes, I overpaid. I could have bid less severely, but I didn't want to waste any more time in a bidding war. Besides, I mostly paid in Artifacts, which I have a ton of and little use for. I've gotten some good gear from hito in the past, so I don't mind.

Now after seeing your old katana, I really can't reason why you decided to buy that katana. Yours is a bit higher leveled, so the one you bought should be very slightly better once it's the same level. Gaining a slight increase in ADM, ~4% of AAC, ~1.5 AGI, and a 4% bleed proc at the expense of losing out on ~5 STR, ~3.3 DEX, and a 2 turn decrease in bleed duration, all for a million credits. I'll even go as far as say your old katana is actually better than the one you just bought. Losing 5 Str and 3.3 dex seems too much to me and the 4% proc increase isn't very appealing when you lose 2 turns in exchange. I'm no Niten expert by any means, so my comment is hardly justifiable, but merely my opinion. But then again, it's your call and as long as you're happy, I guess that's all it matters.

On a side note, maybe if you sell off your old katana to the guy bidding with you to offset the cost of buying your new one (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif). I still think your old one is better, but meh. Wow, this actually took me over 10 minutes to write up.

Wowz you guys must not get hit often. Shield reduces every physical hit by 50 points of dmg (exactly lol). On grind and IW that's actually quite useful. But again, I'm a just starting mage, so my equipment is sucky as hell, And when you say high levels, you're both 50-80 levels higher than me.

That's the point of being 1-shot mage, not getting hit at all by clearing the entire round (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
And no shield is not useful in IW/Grindfest when you go for +300 or like some guys +1000 rounds, not speaking of higher difficulties.

I'm a mage Lv 46, and I plan to get through level 50-100 without using any of tier 2 magic spells. my question is, will I survive?

all trophy rolls are completely random, just gives a small to medium quality bonus to the item roll depending on the trophy.

DemonEyesBob, you should be able to 1-shot with Flames of Loki, I was melee and switched to mage at around 110 or so, got to 130 using FoL and now I can use meteor with arcane focus. still not up to inferno 1 shots but I'm getting close.

Using FoL is a bit mana intensive but you can get to 200+ rounds on a set of superior potions as long as you are one shot clearing, and it will bump your proficiency pretty quickly when you cast a spell for every action you make.

Just find a solid MDM destruction staff and you're pretty much good to go.

Just two things.....

1.Has anyone seen an ethereal katana?

2. is the credit reward for all RoB reduced to 1000 on second trial?

1. theoretically it should exist but considering how rare katana are and how rare ethereal are, a ethereal katana would be very very rare to the point whereby it might not have even dropped yet...

2. yes for the boss and legendary. i think it should also applies to the gods.

All RoB and all arenas Endgame and up are a 1000c clear after the initial payout. You only get the large clear bonus once.

Ugh, and wtf, in the last day my coalesced mana proc chance and channeling proc chance went through the ground. They decreased horribly.

No one can 1 shot inferno on heroic, at least to the best of my knowledge. The people that even comes close to doing it is with thunderstorm.

Mysterious Box: One of only 57 limited edition boxes filled with spent ability points. You're not quite sure when you picked this up, but something tells you to hang onto it.

A trophy with VERY GOOD chances to get something nice. You can`t get them anymore so...

1. No

2 a. Depends. A good shield can block every second hit you take. On the other hand it will make you kill slower so you take more hits.
2 b. I used a rapier back then. PA helps you kill minibosses faster. Just look for one with good ADM and proc chance and duration.
