from the wiki QUOTE - Increase a player's counter-resist and grant a specific element mitigation reduction with spells of that type. - When a player casts a spell their proficiency is compared to the power level of the effected monsters to grant a counter-resist bonus of up to 50% and a specific mitigation reduction of up to 25 points for the spell's element. How much proficiency do I need to get the 50% counter-resist bonus? How is the formula for this?

Well 2handed gains are actually going amazingly fast. I'll be 200 by Wednesday at this rate.
So while I'm on this grind I have to ask; would increasing any magical proficiency affect the strength of weapon's spellstrikes?

QUOTE(hujan86) Maybe you forgot to unequip it? Nope. I have it unequipped since I have better thing than that. Item I have equipped is Superior try to Salvage is Fine. Still, it says it's locked.

Sorry for throwing around so many questions but I was wondering if there's an efficient way to raise proficiencies, specifically the mage ones. I know you obviously just use them but I was wondering if there was anything better than like spamming weaken on a mob in normal mode over and over.
My proficiencies are super far behind my level (My elemental prof is at like 30). So I was just wondering if there was a way I can catch it up a bit.

You can train Assimilator. It speeds up getting proficiencies. First level cost 50k.

Edit: wrong formula. 50 x ((proficiency - level)/(level)) This post has been edited by EsotericSatire: Sep 9 2013, 03:57

Question for you melee'ers out there, what's your usual clear time for the marathons on IWBTH? I managed to do a 35-40 min End of Days yesterday with Niten, just wanted to know how I compare to the rest (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) It's probably still pretty bad, but atleast I don't have to use 2 featherweights per armor piece anymore. Edit: Managed to do a 25 min clear today while not dozing off half into the Arena. I'm sure it could be a bit quicker with DW(or a good Estoc, thoughI don't have one), but my proficiency still needs grinding. This post has been edited by erwtsnert: Sep 9 2013, 20:34

Why does it seem like dark mages are more popular than holy mages? Wouldn't a holy mage have any easier time clearing FSM repeatedly? Just wondering since I plan to build a set for dark/holy soon. Also if someone would be kind enough to price check a couple things, I'm still unsure about stats and such things. Item 1Item 2Item 3Item 4This post has been edited by ryofang: Sep 9 2013, 21:25

I think the dark isn't as popular now as it was before. The current popularity may be just a relic from the previous patches. T equalized holy+dark in this patch more/less. Now it seems to just come down to what drain effect and FSM+breached vs blunted. Think about it this way, after you've invested vast millions into fenrir gear, wouldn't you hesitate on swapping over to holy where you'd have to essentially start from scratch?

QUOTE(ryofang @ Sep 9 2013, 21:12) Most of them are pretty bad, no more than 1000c I suppose. Item 3 however is an exquisite so you'll get atleast 2.5k from salvagers. Reinforced leather is not that bad when it's protection, if you can find someone who's looking for one you might net a bit more.

I stay away from the ones above 100 rounds unless I am going to do it up until the schoolgirls, at which point I flee...I just do that for the added experience which is great.

People do it for the drops. Furthermore he is using Niten which doesn't give any proficiencies.

I usually cleared them on normal for the trophies and tokens, but since I got a better equipment set I've been clearing them on IWBTH for a bit. The EXP is nice, but it's mainly for the better drops the last 3 arena challenges give.

@erwtsnert i never try maraton on IWTB, but i need more than 1hour to clear IWTB TTT arena (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) QUOTE(ryofang @ Sep 10 2013, 02:12) Why does it seem like dark mages are more popular than holy mages?
