Any tips?
Should I keep trying to raise evade and parry/resist or it better to invest in something else? I rarely see people talking about daggers, are they really that bad? Also, I am currently using regen, protection and haste at all times and recovery mana with focus.
HV is more about offense than defense, and daggers are the weakest in that department. You should be using shadow veil > protection as shade dual wielder. Eth club in main hand is preferred for safety, Axe for pure damage. If you're doing mostly low difficulty runs and have no challenge staying alive, use axe; club for more dangerous endeavors. On low difficulty, daggers are fine, but on higher difficulty, rapiers for PA-proc in off hand will significantly speed up kill time.

Hi all, just started playing a few days ago, and have been doing fairly well for myself. Just hit level 83 this morning and have some general questions.
I've been going for mostly a Heavy/Dual Wield build with aspirations to go Niten eventually so I also have been training up using 2h weapons. (I also like the 2h weapon style generally since causing massive damage to up to 5 monsters at a time per swing is kind of nice) I've been doing my stats generally balanced as I saw suggested before, so everything is in the 77-82 range. So far I'm decked out in the best power armor I can find/afford so I have lots of bonus damage. I have yet to find any 'shade' or whatever plate but will start changing over as I find it.
As far as the magic side of things, the only proficiency I have there that is over 1.2 is supportive for Armor/Heal/Regen/Haste.
I'm sure I'm probably doing something tragically wrong, and someone will hit me with the clue-by-four and set me on the right track, but here is my main reason for hitting this message forum today:
Does it hamstring my character down the line to be mainly leveling through the use of the higher difficulties? I notice looking through some of the other players that my skills seem a bit lower, which due to not getting as many swings or as many loot drops that would make sense. Being worried a bit about this, I picked up an absolutely crud item from the Bazaar, some piece of cloth armor with 0/155 for its item world stats, and have been leveling that up a bit. I've been getting a decent number of skillups, the world in that item is super easy, and only 25 long rounds. Most rounds I don't even need to cast a single spell, just go in, start swinging my big scythe around and chop down the wheat.
Is it a good plan to do this for a while to get skills, item drops, monster bonus items, etc.
Please inform me of ways I can improve my character. Should I also get some leather/cloth armor sets and level those up as well so I have those skills up there?
No, it's fine to powerlevel your way through the early levels at the cost of having low proficiency. You'll reach a point where you can't level so quickly and your profs catch up. Running through crudes for loot is fine, but remember that there is a penalty to drops if you do >1000 rounds on less than hell difficulty.

Hiya
Been playing HV with my girlfriend for a week now. We found many things by trial and error and reading the wiki, but there are still some questions.
First comes of the first 2 pages of
this thread: reading that the advice is to combine heavy armor with cloth, we're wondering why. Wearing full light armor gives the possibility to use the abilites and still leaves enough mana for the support spells, so why mixing ? And should mages really wear heavy armor parts instead of using the full cloth abilities ?
Next, the proficiencies. We understand weapon and magic profs unlocks skills, and if seen right at least spells gain more power. Anything more into profs ?
And what are armor profs for, as armors don't have skills ?
i dont think the cloth/heavy thing is the right context. that's generally only mentioned for staff prof grinding. You shouldn't mix for real playing. Armor profs gain you bonuses when you add the abilities, actually all profs work that way now. You have to spend the ability points on the ability for the armor type, and then equip that ability to reap the benefits of your proficiency.

Still at profs, in one of wiki topics for nubiles, there is the hint to not train assimilator once one of the profs hit 100. But a hint, i think it was 2-handed-style, states that profs can grow to over 100. So, why not doing the training on the increased proficiency gain ?
Item world/lvling items. The wiki topic states that weapon stats gained from item worlds can't be upgraded in the forge. How is that meant ? Only new stats gained from the item world ? What happens if the weapon has innate strength bonus, or the innate damage of the weapon, but this gets increased through item levels - can str/dmg still be increased with the forge ?
no idea what the assimilator one is about. If you have a weapon with str and dex, you will be able to forge str and dex. However, if you IW the weapon and it gains Endurance as one of its potencies, you will NOT be able to forge +end. You can only gain potencies for stuff that is not already there, so if you have str and dex on the weapon, IWing will never yield any new bonuses to str or dex.

Still on item lvling. The more potent (crude->fine->superior) a weapon is the more rounds the item world has. The more lvl the character has, the stronger the monsters are (IMG:[

Would it be good to take some take average/fine items, lvl them fully or at least higher - then take superior items and lvl them fully - and then finally taking the desired items of choice and lvl them ?
Uhm... help on a decision please: me sweety was for dual wield, i for 2-handed fighting style (of course the cutie won (IMG:[

Dual wield adds parry, which is a life saver every now and then.
2-handed adds splash/AoE damage.
What to choose ? I am still into the idea to go 2-handed - dead monsters can't deal damage.
edit: also, are these scripts "legit" to use ?
http://ehwiki.org/wiki/scriptsThe Gem highlighting and equipment comparison look appealing, also for later SOL notification (as read in the
thread).
Thanks in advance (IMG:[

do all your arenas first. then you can do IWs or whatever you prefer. If you're IWing stuff just for the exp & drops, there's no need to actually finish the IW. just quit / flee whenever you feel like it. You only finish the IW if you actually want the potencies on the item that is being leveled.
Keep both DW/ 2hand up if you can. 2hand will be more useful for IWs, but DW is quite strong in shorter arenas, and great for later arenas and Ring of Blood boss fights. Would suggest if you don't want to burn extra ability points / mastery points to prioritize 2hand abilities though.
scripts are useful. go through the script thread for others / updates. It's hard for people who use scripts to go back to playing w/o them though. we become reliant on them (IMG:[
