2 Handed Evasive player, I use estoc slaughter as my weapon, and shade set as my armor Here's the stats [ oi40.tinypic.com] http://oi40.tinypic.com/3v2aa.jpgQuestions : 1. I read the articles about the proficiencies http://ehwiki.org/wiki/Advice#Grinding_Proficiencies . At the current level, are my proficiencies too low or are they at normal? 2. It's advised to do high dificulty crude for weapon prof grinding, and normal difficulty crude for armor prof grinding. But in another page http://ehwiki.org/wiki/Proficiencies it's stated that difficulty have no effect on proficiency gains so why should I weapon prof grinding on high difficulty which resulted in more EXP gained than proficiency point if in the end it just widens the gap between the point and my level? 3. I'd like to have your input about my stats distribution, what can I improve? Thanks (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

By how much does MP cost increase when Protection is augmented by a spike shield (1x upgrade)? How much does it increase IA upkeep?
I kind of miss my Frost Spikes -> Freezing Limbs.

When I tested it when the patch came out, it was double exactly (the IA cost, never cast it). I don't know if it still is, since I dropped the points out.

First Half: It's because as you go up in higher difficulty, the enemies get harder as well. When enemies have higher HP, you have more chances to attack them which means more chances to increase your weapon proficiency. When you play on normal difficulty, the enemies will do less damage to you, meaning that they will be able to attack you more often which means more chances to increase your armor proficiency. How much your proficiency increases does not depend on the difficulty you play in. It just allows for more chances to increase your proficiencies.

Thanks~ Mm.. Not sure if it's worth it then. I'd test it out myself, but I don't want to spend the Mastery Point. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) This post has been edited by n125: May 27 2013, 05:00

That's wrong. I bought it a bit ago and it didn't effect the cost of protection. I even took it off just now and protection is the same and put 1 more level into my frost spike shield (since I just got one) and the cost of protection has not gone up once. It is a free upgrade (well, free mana, not free ability and mastery points)

I tried to search but couldn't find anything. Can a focus staff get addition mana conserve through economizer or does that not spawn on / effect focus staves?

Magic proficiency does not directly affect damage anymore. All old effects of magic proficiency have been removed or changed. Hi, I need some information to point me in the direction. I don't think I really know what I'm doing. I've tried looking in the wiki and forums but haven't found much to go on. With the new patch, I'm not sure that what little I knew from before is even true anymore. Here are my questions: 1. What is the better play style, mage or melee? Is this dependent on level? (ex: at level >100, mage is preferred over melee) 2. What stats should I invest in for mage vs melee? 3. What is the best stance for melee? Right now I'm a dual-wielding light armor melee, but I hear two-handed might be better because of domino strike. 4. How do people know what weapons are better than others? (ex: using clubs with light armor, axes with heavy armor and not using longswords altogether) Is there a place that shows these hidden weapon class stats? 5. What is the preferred armor now? I hear it is cloth? 6. How do people know what armor is better than others within the same class? (ex: kevlar vs shade vs leather in light armor) Is there a place that shows these hidden armor class stats? I've attached my stats to this post too. [ imgur.com] My Stats[ imgur.com] More Stats[ imgur.com] My EquipmentPeople's melee weapons choices are mostly based on the weapon proc, Stun and Penetrated armor are preferred usually. Mage prefer phase, Light varies (Shade for evade & attack bonus, kevlar/new leather for PMI) and Heavy, power for power, plate for PMI. It's all dependent on what would suit them best. Also kevlar no longer drops, but rather new leather is like leather & kevlar mixed. Also, to show people your equipment stats, move your mouse cursor over-top of the equipment name, then press 'c' on your keyboard. Post link from the pop-up. Don't know much about melee, so will refrain from advising on that.

Questions easily reversed phase of heimdall > gossamer of heaven-sent ? (EDB > prof) or phase of heimdall < gossamer of heaven-sent ? (EDB < prof)

1. Melee is much easier than mage, even more so now with all the cooldowns introduced and I would argue that melee is "better" but that's cause I'm melee and I'm biased. 2. Stat distribution can be found here http://ehwiki.org/wiki/HentaiVerse_Advice. There are some changes now with Str though as it doesn't give pmi and rather its agility that contributes to pmi so you have to decide which is worth it. 3. 2 handed is much faster but a bit scary at times. I'm DW heavy because of survivability. Slow but steady. Even the cheaper sets allows for Nintendo clears. 4/6. http://ehwiki.org/wiki/Equipment_Ranges provides the ranges for the stats so you can determine if your equip is good or not. 5. Cloth preferred? I don't know about that. If you're melee don't go cloth. I think that's a given. Plate or light. Btw- get better armor. Leather of protection if you plan on sticking with leather. If you're going for shade get shadowdancer or fleet. Frost-born and stuff like that is largely useless. And an ethereal offhand rapier if you can manage to get one.

No Econ on Focus Staves (there's no way he'd let us have 50% MC Sticks).

@paulierichie: It's kind of incredibly hard to raise magic proficiencies at the moment. Not impossible, no, but....

is it possible to have a build where damage taken = health healed, without having to mantain upkeep(without casting of spells except during unlucky crit situations), using just equipment? would be amazing for grinding proficencies: just using a crappy damage weapon to grind large amounts of proficency.

Well you can do that with just regen. Without regen, no I don't think so (first thing that comes to mind is a vampire weapon but that's not enough). This post has been edited by T_Starrk: May 27 2013, 12:37

Well. Vampire weapon might suffice in lower difficulty with less monsters, or when doing low quality iws - best place for vamp weapon, really, get iwbth loot and grind profs as fast as possible.

regen + protection + vampire weapon + heavy mitigation armor might work...
