QUOTE(Yami-chan @ Apr 28 2013, 11:56) [CH01] Exquisite Phase Robe of Heimdall ( - ) Bid:25k [CH02] Exquisite Ruby Phase Shoes of Heimdall ( - ) Bid:1000 I think CH02 is better than CH01, but the current bid of CH2 is higher than CH01 and it still increases. Can someone explain it to me (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) they are both mediocre, way below base max EDB and int. the robe has better evade than the shoes though and elemental res prefixes are mostly counted as useless. this doesn't explain why they are bidding on the robe and not of the shoes anyway. the answer to that is probably that they need a robe and not a pair of shoes. It takes a bit longer to get a Celestial up to scratch (when facing off against a melee, that is). Also, Soul is gonna go away soon. In any event, once you get something up to PL1000, it doesn't really mean anything which starting class you choose.

Sorry for the wall of text. I've read most of the HV wiki. Several parts multiple times. My main goal at the moment is to level. To do this I do a few things (My priority tends to be in this order): 1. Hourly encounters on IWBTH by using spark of life. I've found usually give 300k+ exp every time I defeat it. I don't usually die but the few times I do die is usually because I couldn't get my buffs off at the beginning. 2. Do the arena when a new one opens up or when I a need that few thousand credits because I'm broke. (I should probably have more credits but I frequently used them all to download stuff I when I started) 3. I've been working my way up the Arena of Blood whenever I get the requisite number of tokens for an encounter I haven't done. 4. Use any left over stamina doing grindfest on nightmare/hell. I haven't done this as much lately because I had exams. I could usually make it to around 50 round before I had to start over. My strategy is to use the type of damage that most of the monster are weak to. I use HVstat to list weaknesses/resistances of monsters I've scanned. I tend to keep Regen, Protection, and Haste up constantly. My equipment: Fine Ebony Staff of Destruction Exquisite frugal cap of the frost-bornSuperior Phase Body of MjolnirExquisite phase gloves of MjolnirSuperior Frugal Cotton Pants of WardingSuperior Frugal Cotton Shoes of ProtectionI also have this staff but have been using the other because it contributes more magic base damage. My questions are: 1. Should I be using other equipment? 2. At what point should I use higher tier spells? I've been trying and failing to find the balance between amount of damage dealt out and damage received that uses the least mana. 3. Is there anything you'd recommend reading besides the wiki? Also, I'm not exactly sure what to increase on the monsters in the monster labs. Is there anything that gives a better explanation than the advice part of the wiki did? If there's anything else you'd like to say feel free and thank's for taking the time to read this. Edit: I'd attached images of my stats but I don't see them. Edit: I'd attached images of my stats but I don't see them. I uploaded them here [ imgur.com] http://imgur.com/a/o2yGo#01. Keep your stats more balanced. Let the stats from your equip do the balancing for you. 2. USE BETTER EQUIPS. Cotton is not the best choice here. That small amount of mana conservation can't help you if your spell's not powerful enough. If you focus on elec spells, use full mjolnir. 3. If you want to use higher tier spells, pick the respective staffs/clothes to match it. For example, if you use fire/cold spells, pick surtr and use a redwood/ebony of destruction. with good MDB. Then raise the difficulty if you can handle it. Try to use lower tier spells only after you reach some BT/IWBTH difficulty and you can handle them with those spells, or you're strong enough to clean everything on lower difficulty. 4. I recommend reading the wiki more carefully. If you're still using cotton, that means you haven't read that thoroughly, because I'm quite sure wiki won't recommend cotton. 5. At your level, focus on other things first. Come back to monster lab when you reach some better levels (like 250+).

weaken vs nerf, which one is cheaper to cast and lowers more damage?
how much does shadow veil boost dodge chance? sparks of life is too expensive in battle, and I want to drop that and invest on something else. what spells have lower MP cost and better use?
flame spike causes searing skin which lowers damage, but how much damage does it lower?

Thanks for the advice #3 is particularly helpful. Also, I've been using the cotton till I can find Mjolnir gear better than fine. I admit, I should probably be saving money to buy some rather than pouring it into my training atm. I'll start phasing it out. QUOTE(varst @ Apr 28 2013, 13:27) 1. Keep your stats more balanced. Are you referring to my dexterity being 30? I did see that the wiki said: Stat Equal to Priority DEX Level * ~0.9 Low I can understand the strength effecting health/physical mitigation and agilitiy effecting evade change. But it gave no explanation for dexterity. How does that benefit a mage when the bonuses have nothing to do with it? Dexterity (DEX) Every point raises Physical Base Damage by 1 Every 25 points raises Attack Accuracy, Attack Crit Rate, and base Parry chance by 1% Again thanks. My only problem when reading the wiki at times is that it tells you to do things without telling why. It was nice being given a explanation.

Dexterity helps parry which is very helpful to a mage's damage reduction. It also helps attack accuracy for when you need to proc ET.

Wow, I'd been thinking that was for shields. Looking back at it I'm not sure why. Thanks that makes a lot more makes sense. This post has been edited by James Tyler: Apr 28 2013, 20:02

Try searching the WTS for some free gear from the free shops. At your current level, you still qualify. You should be able to find some. Edit: I saw that you've just visited Wolfgirl's Free Shop. That's the purpose of this thread. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) QUOTE(MuffDiver99 @ Apr 29 2013, 02:00) so what is a cheaper alternative to spark of life to invest on? advice page is good start, but I want some opinions.
At your level, none. If you really have to, you could use the scroll of life. Once you reach lvl 190, spirit shield becomes available then.

Can anyone share what difficulty levels they used for clearing arenas when they were level 100 (realize might be a long time ago)? :->
Also any special equipment used (ex. potions mana, infusions.,etc)?

i'm not totally sure but i think i was doing my arenas at hell on great stamina as an elemental mage with self found or bazaared equipment. i was using a redwood of focus and gossamer clothes of the elementalist.

It doesn't matter what level other used to clear arenas when they were at 100. You will get different answers. The best thing you can do is play the level you are comfortable and know you can win or finish. Several factor determines like - Melee or Mage. Equipments and weapons you use. etc For me I used to do all the arenas in normal mode first time and raise difficulty 1 level at a time to see whether I can finish it. If I succeed I move higher but if I lose I stick with the last level were I was successful. Its all about experiments.
