Does choosing the same equipment category for snowflake shrining of trophies make the quality lower over time or is it just me? I've just gotten a lot of longswords.. even with a noodly appendage.

No for your question and Longswords are just really common. Like 90% of the trophies I shrined recently (Maybe 400) turned out to be longswords. QUOTE(Nightwishman @ Apr 19 2013, 20:30) i switched to shrinning for staves or heavy armor now
Good luck with your Legendary Ethereal Redwood Staff of Shit. And yeah, I think I'm going to shrine for heavy too. Should've done that in the first place. Tier would be one less thing to worry about. This post has been edited by calibur: Apr 20 2013, 06:43

Yes, I shrine for heavy too, I am happy with plate or power and those are the only two possiblities. I only have to worry about suffix and quality.

QUOTE(kakashi524 @ Apr 19 2013, 10:18) Does that happen in the last arenas, fighting FSM and her friends at the end?
No. QUOTE(calibur @ Apr 19 2013, 10:30) Then again wiki could be outdated but I doubt it.
All information regarding the arena on the wiki is 100% correct.

Seeing that most of the high level players are using heavy plate/power, should I be making a change at my level?
I'm currently alternating between light shade/fleet/DW (Arenas/RoB) & mage holy/dark (IWTBH RE) depending on what I'm playing.

Is there any reason that you're playing holy/dark mage for IWTBH RE other than variety?

Clears faster. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) But I do use it off/on on the arenas too to gain credits faster.

I've got to try that out one day... but in the mean time I'm far too preoccupied sinking everything I have into perfecting the DW/shade build.

It slowly builds associated proficiencies over time as well. It's why I do my IWBTH REs in a two-handed/heavy suit. There's no benefit to doing them with your usual shit on.

I am switching to heavy melee from mage. I am maging to clear hourlies, while doing arenas on lower difficulty, since my profs are so low. The problem with melee for me is I can't find a good ethereal estoc, the premier 2H weapon. One at auction is now 1mill, but it might go to 2+. I think it is best to pick something at your level and stick with it, instead of switching at a late level like me. Though I have seen jculllinae, who maxed proficient everything...

Couldn't you just normalfest that with key bindings?

Yes, it's not easy to find a good set of weapons & armour, especially when many a times (for me personally, I'm not too sure) what is considered good. Generally, afaik, the more "expensive", the better it is/should be. But then, how many of us can really afford it. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) What do we really, really look for in an equipment stats?Perhaps, some form of guide can be tooled up for newbies and the not-so-smart players. Pity, there isn't a discount or even free shop for players > level 200... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

There's a balance. When you give more details in the guide, it will be outdated within a few patches. That's why the preferred way, IMO, is to give a general guide and tell the new players to check the equip range. Even with that guide, players do have different opinion on what's the more important stats: some feels damage's the most important, some likes defense, some want to be more balanced. It's up to the players to prioritize that. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I think i'll write a guide after the next patch, it should explain everything for new players and old ones.
Including moneymaking, builds, economy and current price ranges.

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) One should be careful when looking for good equips/weapons, cuz you can get really ripped off in some random WTS shops. At the moment, I am going for heavy plates, which means lots of defense. I look for high physical mitigations and decent crushing/slashing/piercing mitigations. Elemental mits are a plus, but harder to find. Look for high strength/dext/end, as Iron Man (T-stark) has said before, both strength and endurance raise your phys mitigations. Since I am going full defense mode; to contrast getting raped every turn as a mage, I need to find a great affordable weapon, which is incredibly hard to do. If you choose to go light armor, go for high evasion, such as Fleet (you probably know this more than me). I like to look for, again, Str/Dext/End/Agility. Low burden is always a good thing, and ethereal weapons which don't hamper your evasion, is key for shade armor. What I would really love to see is someone with all Exq+ Shielding Armor; i'd like to see what their block% and Burden is..... How awesome would that setup be? Yes, but the point is that you're not deliberately going out of your way to grind proficiencies, which I hate doing. Random encounters are done routinely so you may as well get something extra out of them. This is more like passive proficiency grinding. (Obviously, if you need to get certain proficiencies up to a reasonable level quickly, then this isn't a good method to utilize for that.)

I made that mistake early on when I started playing this game. Back then, the emphasis was to level up as quickly as possible. Now, I'm still trying to catch up on several proficiencies. This point needs to be ingrained into the new players. This post has been edited by Apocalypse Horsemen: Apr 20 2013, 11:07
