1) I just started doing IW on easy to level up my equipment, and this question has been bothering me for quite a while. I know you can't DIRECTLY choose your IW upgrade, but is there any way to stack the deck in your favour regarding item potencies? Maybe something like having certain base PABs on the weapon or beating IW within certain time limit raise the chance to get Swift Strike/Butcher?

2) Are any one of these items good enough to FORGE? If the answer is no, then approximately how much credits will I have to farm up in order to gain a significant improvement?
(I recently used up almost all my credits to buy the shade leggings from axion(50k), I just need a number to set a goal)

nope
the only thing you can do is reforge the equipment if you don't get your most desired potency at level 1, because there is a higher chance of getting levels in a potency you have already unlocked.

2)
maybe the legs of your current gear, but i'm not sure. the rest is not only not forge worthy, but some things are even bazaar worthy (mostly talking about the heavy pieces of warding of your 2H set) and you should just toss them.
i can't help you setting goals because i don't really know about prices but i suggest you take a look at the free shops where you can find better things than the one you are using now.

Axes, Clubs, Rapiers, and Shortswords can be guaranteed all butcher and swift strike if they have all four PABs they can drop with (str, dex, end, agi). Rest of the weapons all can get endurance which they cannot naturally drop with. Still, having a PAB naturally occur on a weapon means that you cannot get that as a potency therefore your odds for the other potencies are increased.

Before anything else, have a look at the HV Wiki. I think you might have missed out quite a fair bit in your read through.

Specifically, at the Advice page.

IW number of rounds are the same every time you IW the same equip (of course they differ between equips). You find out how many there are by entering the IW and reading your battle log (helluva lot easier than crunching numbers, I find) then fleeing.

5. Do all RoB rounds on Normal the very first time just for the clear bonus. Then, forget the rest and concentrate on FSM at IWBTH. However, don't do that unless you're very, very confident you're gonna beat him.

@Malenk: Yes, you can, in a rather limited way, sway the IW potencies. If you have a natural 4PAB 1H weapon, you're guaranteed Butcher/Swift Strike. If you have a 4-element-prefix armour, you won't get that element -proof potency. But that's more the equip itself determining its own possible potencies, I suppose, and nothing you do can influence it.

i knew about that of course.
i didn't bring it on because there is nothing you can do about that once you already have the equip you want to IW. the PABs are either there or not.

Phew. That was scary.

Ok, so.
1.- Go for Shade of Shadowdancer/Fleet.
2.- Replace MH with Club of Slaugther. Preferrably an Ethereal one for the extra strike.
3.- Get better rapier of balance or go for Nimble.

Two questions tho, if I get an ethereal weapon and get it to LVL10. Will I get an Elemental strike + the void strike it already had? And should I be aiming for a certain burden or just try to get 50% evade and 45% parry?

1. Yes, on top of the Void Strike, you will get a random Elemental/Holy/Dark/Soul strike. Can't do anything about the randomness of the strike, more's the pity. However, based on my own experience, anything other than Cold is fine. Fire whammies Undead and Beast mobs quite handily (and isn't horrible against Humanoids), Wind is what you want for fucking Konata up (and who hasn't wanted to do that), Elec is awesome against Mechanoids.

2. You want an Ethereal weapon because certain mobs are highly resistant to crushing. Void damage has no specific mitigation, so you're doing full damage all the time.

3. If you're using Shade, you shouldn't have ANY bloody burden. Mixing Shade + Kevlar, yes, the upper limit is 74.9 (not that you're ever gonna get anywhere near that number, that's more for Heavy users to worry about), and below that, as long as your Evade is high, you're golden.

does the chance of getting bindings or rare materials go up as you level up your monsters or stay the same?
i mean, do level 250 monsters have the same chances of bringing you a binding/rare material as level 25 monsters?
EDIT: rereading the wiki i found the answer about bindings. doesn't say about rare materials though.

danixxx also has a few annoying ones, and from memory i would say aasta is also a pain in the ass.
EDIT: how could i forget about ChosenUno's monsters? they are also in the most hated list.


question: can you give a double elemental strike of the same element to a weapon with an infusion?
like using an infusion of divinity on a hallowed weapon.

Eh, Uno's mobs are not all that bad. Either that, or I've never met his really nasty ones. HTTP's on the other hand, they're the bane of existence.

Ah hah, I needed to rescan. She's level 959 now, so it makes a whole lot more sense.

Alas, you can't double the Elemental Strikes on a weapon.
