QUOTE(Malenk @ Apr 9 2013, 04:19) is there a reason to do IW over grindfest if you don't need potencies?
Easier fight at higher difficulty for power leveling.

What should I be playing for the chance to get the very best possible drops? I am sort of guessing I should be playing IW with a legendary item on IWBTH. Or does it not matter?

The quality of the item used as the Item World doesn't matter, as far as I know. Only the difficulty, your loot trainings, and the variable round bonus matter. Optimally, you'll want to have max loot trainings and the ability to do several hundred Grindfest rounds on IWBTH in a small amount of time, but who can really do that? Tenboro wants to discourage Normalfesting, so it will be interesting to see what people come up with once he gets around to doing that. I get the feeling it will screw over mages especially. Well, the item quality does help indirectly, because the number of rounds depends on it. If you go into a low quality item, you won't have enough rounds to max out the variable round bonus. And if the item isn't legendary, then you won't have as many rounds to enjoy a maxed out variable round bonus.

I guess I should dump my mage setup ASAP, and go melee entirely then?

Maybe you guys are being too pessimistic (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Tenboro may give mage a semi-buff so they can survive in higher difficulties, but at the cost of dmg or something else. On topic: If I want to finish IWBTH IW for at least EXQ, what is the minimum gear required? (for mage, and melee) (well it doesn't have to be IWBTH, but I want to get to lv 10 in a reasonable amount of time) This post has been edited by cirrux: Apr 9 2013, 08:03

Because it's so profitable and easy to spam.

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif) Though that is without infusions or scrolls; just the normal supportive spells like haste, SoL, shadow, protection, etc. My gear is better than yours also, but not by much. Using scroll of avatar, scroll of shadows helps alot, but I prefer to try to do things 'au naturel.'

I don't find Normalfesting very profitable. I get majority Crude to Average equipment drops, and 1x crystals, and only 1x exp; generally it's not worth the time and effort.

Of course you don't, because your loot trainings probably aren't maxed out. You also probably don't have awesome gear that is forged to a high degree, so you can't last as many rounds. But people who do have (or are close to having) those things find Normalfesting to be profitable, not only in terms of gear, but also crystals--assuming they also have Crystarium. You also find enough artifacts that you can be in Great Stamina perpetually, to the point where you can start selling those off as well. Tenboro wants us to move up to higher difficulties as we get stronger, instead of staying in Normal. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Just curious, are there many players who have all crystarium, all tokenizer, all innate arcana, etc? I have none of these perks... Even as a goldstar member, 1.667 hath/day is pennies in the big picture scheme.
