QUOTE(ahenayau @ Feb 24 2013, 15:18) I'm DW heavy (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) heavy get nerf ALOT in this new patch (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif) I just realise that I'm tankier in my heavy power set due to the change to protection, I clear faster due to the PMI formula change. My scythe can finally outdamage my estoc, yay. My only complain is the new tick for heal, so I don't heal up fast enough. Then again, my buff and debuff also last much longer due the new tick, so I don't mind casting a bit of cure with all the extra mana. Still, ethereal's price is gonna go through the roof for sure

Hi people. I'm looking for any general advice you may care to give; anything is fine as I still have almost no sense of how to play the game effectively. Any glaring errors with what I've done so far? I heard that it's better to have a mix of different equips despite losing the small bonus associated having the same type of equips; is that true? Right now my Auras, in order of ROYGBIV, is 3222112. I'm a mixed melee but focused on Light before switching to mostly heavy equip. And about when should I try to beat the Invisible Pink Unicorn, and how should I go about doing so? Thanks in advance! (Also, what does EDB mean? I can't find it anywhere) Stats: Edit: direct linking doesn't work. Start with spark. Then haste and veil. Then either sp shield/xnerf/AF.

Not really, that bonus is pretty significant. In fact, the removal of one of these bonuses in heavy armor in the latest patch cause no small amount of grief. You should stick with just one style of armor, until you have an exact idea of what you're doing, and have the fund to do it. QUOTE And about when should I try to beat the Invisible Pink Unicorn, and how should I go about doing so? Ring of Blood boss is pretty easy to beat these days. Cast haste -> shadow veil -> protection -> regen 1/2 -> spark of life (optional) -> weaken -> silence and you're good to go. Cure if your hp is under 50% and recast your buff/debuff when they're down. That's the safest way, but it will take a little bit of time to kill it. QUOTE (Also, what does EDB mean? I can't find it anywhere) Elemental Damage Bonus more acronyms here This post has been edited by holy_demon: Feb 24 2013, 08:12

Where did you hear that you should mix armour types? You should never, ever do that unless you're literally starting out because you won't have any to use in the first place.

It's this quote that is... 3+ years old. Well crap. QUOTE(DemonEyesBob @ Oct 28 2009, 19:07) I think the best setup at the moment is a mix of heavy and cloth or all three. 5 Pieces of heavy is simply too much. It used to be ok for cakefest, and to some extent it probably still is now, but not for the arenas. High interference will reduce your magic proficiencies, and that will hurt cure/regen/shield, and as we've said before the speed decrease means you're being blasted more than once per monster per turn fairly often.
Right now I'm using 2 pieces of heavy and 3 cloth. I'm not sure this is as viable at lower levels (for one I'm using an ethereal rapier, so no burden/interference on the main hand), because I found low level cloth to be fairly useless, but my cloth prof is only 10 below my heavy and climbing, so both of those types get a fair boost. I do think lower level players are kinda fucked in this regard. Maybe other people have had better results with light armor, but I still find 99.99% of it worthless except as possible elemental mitigations for later, and cloth at low levels has almost no damage reduction and little evade to make up for it.
Also, Hito's probably not the best person to go by, as his equipment is probably all exquisite and magnificent (if not ethereal and phase) which means it has relatively low burden/interference for its type.

To be fair, with the new update, I'd be tempted to mix in 2-3 light shade in my power set, for the speed boost. This post has been edited by holy_demon: Feb 24 2013, 09:00

Yes, esp with only IA1. It also gives chance for a channel.

Looking at these bonuses, they don't look that good anymore. QUOTE When wearing all LIGHT armor + 0.25% Attack Crit Chance + 0.7% Resist + 1 Agility
When wearing all HEAVY armor + 0.7% Crushing/Slashing/Piercing Mitigation + 1 Endurance

Huh, so am I. It's not as if Heavy's got anything going for it right now.

Do anyone found that the dropped item quality is slightly higher in the new patch? Or is it just me?

I just noticed this after the new patch today:
All my monster's chaos upgrades are gone for 'Swiftness.' Is this due to the update, or lost packets, or did my monster just drop his chaos tokens after getting killed?

Swiftness was introduced with this patch. You cant possible have spent any Tokens on it before. --- On a sidenote: Got Monster resist got lowered or did I just have a lot of dumb luck?

Opposite for me. Felt like monster resist rates were doubled today. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) A couple of other mages noticed the same thing...
