Don't bother with spikes yet as your points are better off spent in other places, HP/MP tanks in particular. Max silence though, it'll let you take on FSM as well as allow you to ramp up the difficulty setting for your random encounters.

So do I need a holy set or a dark mitigation set to take on FSM or will my normal elemental gear + silence/weaken/imperil/slow be fine?

I personally don't even use silence and let absorb/SoL do the job against FSM instead. Less dealing with curse-weaving. But assuming your equips are fine, sure.
However, FSM is great place to gain some holy proficiency for elemental mage.

So i just need a decent set of holy gear? Back when i quit, the first time you did FSM, you needed dark mitigation gear.

Well he still hit with dark attacks. But yeah, he's also still vulnerable to holy so it should do the job. Try it on normal first to get used to it actually ^^.

A cheap heaven-sent/heimdall suit should be enough. Because of Imperil you could do it in an elemental suit too, but it will naturally take more turns (perhaps too many at your level). Dark mitigation gear is not needed.

How to use Silence effectively? Cast it at the beginning of the battle or wait till the monster's SP is half full?

FSM is very much weaker than he used to be (or rather, we are stronger), and the strategy has changed accordingly. Good Elemental + Imperil (and Weaken/Silence/Slow) is sufficient to bring him down (on Normal, wouldn't recommend it on IWBTH at your level anymore now that they've doubled his HP). Holy is better, but I've been producing frozen Noodles since about level 120. Assuming you're using new Phase as opposed to pre-buff Phase, you should be good with Imperil and some ranks in Pack Rat for more Mana Pots.

Hey guys I've reached "End of Days" in arena and zomg, those japanese school girls are dominating me (not in a good way). Is it possible to do this 2h/heavy(power) style? I can clear everything easy on hell (including previous arenas) but I hit a brick wall on the girls. I can't seem to damage them fast enough, is it compulsory to switch to dw? Sometimes I think life would've been easier as a mage (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

You do realize that most people either do just the rounds without schoolgirls (for the massive XP multiplier), or crank the difficulty down significantly for those, right? That or swap in some Protection Plate and suck it up. While I appreciate all advice, I can do without the malice. I've tried with protection plate first, then again with power slaughter trade in for speed. In the end it still wasn't fast enough to kill school girls without DW, which is why I'm asking.

Is it a bad idea to use Balance weapon in the Mainhand (dual wielding 2 balance weapons, instead of Slaughter+Balance weapon)?

Kill all the other monsters, then do this: Max OC -> Proc PA -> great cleave, repeat until dead. Do this for all of the girls. You may need to focus to regain mana, or soul harvest for SP.

Balance on offhand is for increasing your offhand proc chance. In your man hand you ideally want slaughter for max dmg on skills. EDIT: Also, as long as you're over 100% accuracy at your level you should be fine. This post has been edited by desert storm: Feb 7 2013, 10:23
