1. As a melee player, I should focus on curative & supportive first, deprecating second and don't bother with elemental spells?

2. Any advices for my build?
Main Hand: Exquisite Ethereal Shortsword of Slaughter - from auction
Off hand: Superior Ethereal Rapier of Slaughter - donation
Helmet: Superior Kevlar Helmet of Protection - from auction
Body: Exquisite Kevlar Breastplate of Deflection - from auction
Hands: Exquisite Leather Gauntlets of the Thunder Child - monster drop
Legs: Superior Leather Leggings of the Thunder Child - monster drop
Feet: Fine of Shade Boots of the Fleet - from bazaar

I acquired this from the auction: Exquisite Ethereal Shortsword of Slaughter Balance and I'm planning to test it as my off hand weapon. Probably when I reach Level 80.

So, uhm, my inventory is currently overflowing with garbage equipment, and I now find myselft trying to familiarize with salvaging.

Tried searching the thread, but lost my hope at a "We know nothing" reply lol. D:

The wiki wasn't much of a help too, with the following being pretty much the only relevant guideline for salvaging:

Equipment in the Fine to Superior range has a chance to yield materials based on the specific item's quality.

Given the above line from the wiki, I take that an item with better PXP has a better chance to yield materials, but what about said materials?
Does better PXP also mean better chance to yield a mid or even high grade material?

I tried experimenting a bit but the results were pretty inconsistant, with also Exquisites netting only low grade stuff (though they were like 700c pieces at the bazaar, thus my shaky conclusion that better PXP = better chance of receiving superior materials).

For now I've been bazaar'ing those items with decent sell price but low base PXP (something like a 290 PXP Superior Kevlar with bad Suffix), where basically I think it's very hard for a mid grade material to be salvaged, and I can at least snag some credits.
Any tip or strategy you're currently using?

I am also curious as to whether a threshold exists for high grade materials to be obtained, like if it's exclusive to Magnificent items and above, or if there's a chance for Exquisites too.
Nobody started gathering some data on it?

I salvage all first tier junk with a PXP over 300. Second and third tier stuff I usually take the guaranteed credits unless it's something I know has a high percentage of covering the cost (exquisite and above with high PXP, stuff that will at least yield MG, although at third tier most of that stuff its worth more than a mg so I usually just bazaar it).

Is it worth swapping into spirit stance just to cast high MP costly spells like Regen II and Heartseeker? It only saves 25%, but as a heavy meleer that MP does add up quite a bit.

Also, during arena battles, do melee tend to use overcharge to focus to regain MP, use it fuel spirit stance, or just do full skill combos? I generally do the first to conserve item usage, and only do the second when I have a powerup that synergizes well with the situation. I only do a full skill combo during hourly battles.

Yes you should use SP stance to cast stuff.

As for focus, you really only need to do that if you don't have enough IA and is doing a schoolgirl marathon.

For skill combos, you only do that if you use a mace.

depends on style and usage. you won't need to regain MP except for long run like high diff marathons.
estoc using SS most of time and will only use GC, mace can use full skill, DW always use full skill, etc

- Yes, why not? 25% is a huge save on MP in the long run.

- IMO overcharge is best used for spirit stance or some of the skills. Using overcharge to regain MP only if you're in desperate situation. With enough power you can use spirit stance and kill everything; if thing's getting difficult, using skills to kill is a good idea. There's no absolutely correct answer here; it depends on how you play.

That's usually the only time I do cast it. I usually give top priority into casting it with the channeling buff if it has about 100 turns or less before expiring.

If you main TH, I think IA is more worth the cost

Heartseeker is awesome and you should definitely max it (unless you're mage)

Or you can cast it regularly and get an almost certain Channeling for Regen II. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I'm still training my proficiency. I know I need better equipment but what should I look for? Should I stick with just heimdall or mix? Also how do I survive rounds?

You should concentrate on one element for maximum damage output with each cast. Just so you can one-hit some enemies.
