Magnificient Ethereal Katana of BalanceMagnificient Plate Helmet of the Thrice-BlessedSuperior Plate Cuirass of ProtectionSuperior Plate Gauntlets of ProtectionSuperior Plate Greaves of ProtectionExquisite Plate Sabatons of ProtectionThis is my current equipment. Currently I am using the Katana because it is ethereal and seems decent enough. I would love to eventually stumble onto an ethereal Estoc but not looking to buy, just waiting and hoping. I am working on two things right now which are raising my 2H proficiency to 200 (183 so far) and getting money. The money is mostly bazaar shopping and leveling up my monsters in the lab, of which I only have 1 over 200 and a few over 100. I have a few questions. Is there something I should be working on specifically? I haven't tried to forge anything and so far am not interested, but should I be? Arena seems to be the only way to get credits, should I just focus all my stamina on that and if yes should I play on normal to clear them fastest or continue what I've been doing? (I've been playing the first ones on IWTBH, up to 20 rounds, then I steadily decline difficulty until I get to 40 rounds where I just do Nightmare all the way to The Trio and the Tree and do that one on Heroic instead, I usually don't do them all because I get burned out and take a break till the next day) I have a Superior Plate Helmet of Protection that I could switch to my main helmet but I'm not sure if the boost in mitigation justifies the loss in attributes. I have very little hath since the only way I ever get it is through artifacts, my money usually goes to crystals, bazaar and auctions, should I start saving up? I really am looking to try and get the perk that lets me keep a spell on the whole time. Any general advice? This post has been edited by SPoison: Dec 31 2012, 13:06

I really am looking to try and get the perk that lets me keep a spell on the whole time. Any general advice? If your mitigation is keeping up with the incoming, you can keep the extra STR/DEX from the Mag piece. You can also swap it for a Power piece to get even better damage output at the cost of a bit of mitigation. You can usually pick up decent Protection or Balance Power for ~100k or so, Slaughter is of course more expensive. I'd be looking to swap the Katana out for higher difficulties, PA is really too good to pass up. As for forging, I wouldn't forge any of that. You're right to not be interested for now. They're all fine equips, but you can buy upgrades to those cheaper than you can forge those up. Plate is Tier 1, anything short of high Mag is cheap to acquire. Just buy a better piece of Plate rather than forging, at least until you get into the high Magnificent range, when forging starts to look more attractive by comparison. Forging is just incredibly expensive once you start requiring HG mats, and Bindings of Protection aren't exactly cheap either. If you didn't sink at least a few hundred thousand into an equip, it's probably not worth forging, you can buy a better upgrade for less cash (and then forge that when you get money). IA is sexy. IA2+ even gets you a discount on your buffs, but even IA1 can save mana when you don't use the full duration of a spell (say in First Blood, you'll still have haste/Spark/whatever up, but not spend 100 mana on it).

Maybe you can make sense of this. http://ehwiki.org/wiki/Level_Scaling

Level Scaling has the info you're looking for. They'll gain Base Value / Scaling Factor each level. Quick Example, my Robe. We'll use EDB, since it's scaling factor is 50, which makes for less ugly math. The base EDB is 5.66. At your level, it would have 5.66 * (1+127/50) = 20.03 Cold EDB. At level 128, it would gain 1/50 * 5.66 = 0.1132 EDB and go to 5.66 * (1+128/50) = 20.15 EDB At my level, I get 5.66 * (1+196/50) = 27.85 EDB There are scripts to get the base values, or you can reverse the formulas and plug it into a calculator.

Mmm, that's in the Item World article. Not sure how much resistances or PABs they gain (and I don't think it's the same for every item). MC seems to be about 5% per level, but again varies slightly. Butcher/Archmage though, is always a 2% bonus per level to WDB/MDB. That one we've nailed down. Edit: Just looked at T_Starrk's gear. Different items do get different %s for Swift Strike, but both level 5 ones were 10.XX speed bonus and both with 1 SS were 2.XX. I suspect the same applies to PAB/Resist/MC, and I suspect it has to do with the item's quality bonus (can't tell quality for T_Starrk's stuff, they're both maxed). So if i understand it right, potency level up didn't give the item more stats other than the potency bonus it gain when leveling up. For ex: my staff leveling up from 0 to 1, get archmage potency then it only get more MDB, other than that its acc, crit chance etc didn't increase at all?

Exactly. If it gets Archmage, you'll get 2% more MDB, nothing else changes.

QUOTE(median @ Dec 31 2012, 14:34) Hi I've got a pretty good wep http://hentaiverse.org/pages/showequip.php...;key=dd191567d1I was wondering how good Estoc I would have to get to increase my clearspeeds in the arena? High base weapon damage, DEX is a bit low though. Would sell for at least 7 digits. Depend on your build, estoc is deadly with Heavy Armor, but very risky if used by Shade Armor, average with Protection Kevlar. Depend on the difficulty and 2H proficiency, an estoc will clear the arena faster than other 2H weapons (the higher the difficulty, the faster). But at your level, it is better to use mace or high-bleed scythe for damage as monsters dont hit hard, have low health, and barely have any PMI.

you might want to try (even non-eth one) a higher damage & good proc estoc. just use voidseeker when doing high difficulties. forge things that you think worth it. play high rank arena on high difficulties first, then clear the rest on lower diff just for the clear bonuses if you still have time. having IA never hurt.

I'm not sure how it is at your level, but eventually even a balance estoc will clear faster than your Legendary Slaughter mace. I once borrowed a slaughter mace that had it's damage forged 50 times and it still couldn't clear as fast as my legendary balance estoc. The problem is that even if you rotate rending blow properly, you can't use spirit stance. And nothing clears on melee faster than spirit stance + penetrated armor. Not to say there's anything wrong with mace, but it is a slower play-style. So to answer your question, you really don't need that great an estoc to clear faster than even the best mace. Edit: It sounds like I'm calling mace a shitty weapon. Imo, faster does not always equal better (I use a club, so I know all about the advantages of stun). Weapon choice depends on what build you want to have really. But if you want pure clear speed, either heavy/estoc or high-level fenrir mage is the way to go, imo (though for single enemies/schoolgirl arenas, I think DW with a rapier in the off-hand is faster than estoc, but I am biased (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) ). Both axe and rapier looks okay. Not perfect, but any upgrade should cost too much at your level.
You may choose to switch your warding armor to protection armor though. You may also need more protection plate armor, since it's more about defense than offense at your level if you want to challenge higher difficulty.
