Edit: More complete now. As for my equipment, I buy what I can, and the rest are drops. I am in the process of swapping out everything for Kevlar of Protection.

But here's some advice: scythe of balance isn't a good idea at your level. You should be using at least a scythe of slaughter or, if you want to keep fighting with light armor, ethereal mace of slaughter. Estoc is also okay at higher level with full kevlar, but it doesn't work well with shade.

Also, either change your shade of arcanist to kevlar of protection for better mitigation, or use ethereal weapon and shade of fleet/shadowdancer for better evade. Mixing them isn't a good idea at high level IMO.

I'm of the belief that light armor users should always use ethereal weapons only (this includes kevlar users too). By picking a weapon with burden you're hurting one of the main advantages you get with light armor, evade. So, try to find a scythe and estoc sorta like I have in my sig (ethereal and of slaughter). If you want to continue using scythe and estoc definitely replace those arcanist pieces with kevlar of protection or high mitigation fleet/SD with endurance. If you're not going to use a weapon with stun then you need at least 3 or your armor pieces to be high mitigation protection kevlar (kinda similar to the patented Evil Scorpio style, except he uses 4 kevlar and a legendary fleet with godly PMI for shade).

The other route you could go is full shade with either mace or dual-wield with club. But yeah, get rid of the arcanist (there's really no great advantages to using arcanist, low interference is the best thing about it and that hardly matters with light armor already).

I was doing IW and a mob 1-shot me through my Spirit Shield. I took no apparent spirit damage.

How does that happen?

a) You went below 10% MP and spirit shield was removed from autocast.
(IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) Mobs hit you before/after that mob, which caused over your current health in damage.
c) You were already below 25% HP so SS wasn't doing anything.

I don't have IA.
There was only one mob.
I'm pretty sure my health wasn't that low because since it was the last mob I was taking the opportunity to Focus to get mana back.

Does that only happen if you have really low agi? I can't remember that ever happening, more like I get 1.75 hits per an enemy's.

Focus shouldn't get you double tapped without low AGI, I'm pretty sure it's base time 1.0 (as fast as a normal attack before X-Attack), but some monsters (Avions in particular) can have ridonkulous AGI. Or, if you don't have Haste up it could happen. You also weren't over 200 before the patch (same as me), so the monsters we've been facing before haven't usually had a ton of Crystals poured into AGI. HigherMakoto can encounter anyone but the top 5 in IWBTH (we're both at everyone but the top 19 or so).

Double-taps usually happen to mages throwing out Tier 3+ spells, since they're a lot slower than basic attacks.

what difficulty were you on? At your level I had to do item world at nightmare or heroic for magnificent equips, iirc.

you should have used soul harvest before it got so low.

Is physical mitigation more important than magical one? Or are they both equally important?

How do I determine if my proficiencies(especially deprecating and divine) are well below my level?
