Okay experts; how can I make my mage better?

current stats:

Current auras: rank 1 indigo and blue auras (bronze too of course)

Abilities: level 3 snowstorm and inferno, level 1 poison, level 6 magic tank, all exp bonus slots filled, cure, and level 2 health tank.

you are playing on hard difficulty...

need to see your equipment page as well...

don't waste the ap on exp bonus. use them on hp and mp tank. 1 point in poison useless.

concentrate on filling up one element first (ie. all the way till the ratings) before you start on the other one.

int for magic damage, wis for max mp, end for max hp, agi for action speed.

What is the estimated chance for Absorb to process? I have it maxed out but it never seems like its working when I have it on

Really... I just went a bunch of rounds with 0 Hp doing Magic Mis with absorb on and I did not get more MP back than the normal recovery amount.

hmm... let me try helping by ask the question in another way...

according to the ehwiki...

Absorb (x5) - The next magical attack against the target will be absorbed and partially converted to MP. Additional points increase the duration and power of the spell. (Supportive - Self-Targeted)

so where does the mp that is being absorbed come from?

is it from the mp of the monster that you attack? i.e. if the monster currently has 10mp and absorb is absorbing at 50% so you will get 5mp.

or is it from the mp that you used to cast the magic attack? i.e. if you cast a magic attack for 8mp and absorb is absorbing at 50% so you will get 4mp.

or is it from the magic dmg that you caused? i.e. if the magic attack that you cast caused 100 dmg to the monster and absorb is absorbing at 50% so you will get 50mp.

The amount of MP absorbed is based on your Base MP. IIRC, somewhere between 5-10%.

No. You're absorbing their magic attack and converting it into your own MP. I used to have data on Absorb, but I haven't used it since I reset my STAT several months ago.

This is the first time i've had a 6 item drop that I can recall. I have 28/50 scavenger now so that may have helped. Before it was 25/50 (+50%) to base drops. I think having it over the 50% change helps, but I'd like to hear from someone with 40/50 scavenger or higher and what they can get.

Yep, been on hard difficulty for a while now.

exp bonus is a waste?? I have them all filled, but does that mean it's only 9% total increase of 3% per level making it 27%? I'll start focusing on HP and MP tank once Snowstorm is at lvl 5 (currently at 4). Poison I'll up later, or start on Weaken maybe.

I don't think Tenb has ever mentioned a hard cap on proficiencies, just that certain calculations that used proficiencies put a max value at 250 or 200.

I feel silly asking this as I'm sure the answer is somewhere, but I've done a little bit of digging and can't come up with a result.

So I jumped into HV headfirst without really doing any reading/research, and I spent all my credits on experience bonus (Which I just read is a silly thing to do), and don't know how to make a little bit back so I can invest in more profitable means. I've tried some grindfest, but since I didn't know anything about character builds, I can barely last long enough to cover the price of healing afterward.
