4EverLost, I've noticed your incredible successes in IW-IWBTH as a heavy melee player. Presumably, you've achieved Dovahkiin title as well. I'm a light melee player who is now very frustrated with the lack of survivability and longevity on higher difficulties. I've noticed that light melee can ultimately only go as far as 13 godly mana potions can carry it, which, disappointingly, is insufficient for item world and high difficulty arenas anymore. I'm very eager to switch to heavy melee at this point, especially after discovering what a struggle it is to defeat schoolgirls as a light melee in Ring of Blood. What equipment and weaponry do you use as a heavy melee? How many IA slots are recommended? Are shards required to most effectively play heavy melee for 100+ rounds on high difficulty, especially item world and schoolgirl arenas on BT/IWBTH? What is your overall battle strategy?

QUOTE(LipLol @ May 29 2012, 03:36) lol! Is it that bad? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) Better to start with a destruction staff and some elementalist or EDB of your main spell's choice. QUOTE(Evil Scorpio @ May 29 2012, 03:42) Guys, somebody give him some decent shoes. I gave him gloves already, but I'm out of shoes.
Elementalist. Done. This post has been edited by varst: May 28 2012, 21:43

QUOTE(LipLol @ May 28 2012, 21:36) lol! Is it that bad? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) Wow. thank you! I'm using it right now. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I'll choose fire/cold combo now. ^^ Tip: when choosing clothes, dont wear Specific Mitigation suffix such as Frost-Born or Thrice-Blessed, not too many monsters can deal magical attacks anyway and those do usually can be disposed off quickly with just few spells. Even if you are poor, at least choose Gossemar, they offer nice prof bonus and have considerably higher overall stat boost than Cotton. In previous posts you asked about EDB, it stands for Elemental Damage Bonus, which works exactly what name implies, only Phase has this (Gossemar is proficiency bonus). Explosion is triggered when you cast a spell and got the proc. Such as casting Fire spell and proccing Searing Skin, now casting a Cold spell will explode that proc for extra fire damage and if you got Deep Freeze proc, cast Wind to explode for cold damage. The cycle repeat. While Fire/Cold combo is fine, you need to take account of monster's mitigation (check the monster lab section in the wiki), Wind/Elec is popular because Giant and Dragonkin are weak to them, both monsters are the top loot bringers (as in, raking up player kill scores) for the Monster Lab This post has been edited by Coma: May 28 2012, 21:54

Can't believe you guys give him free mage equipment at his level. I'm still using my mage equipment I won from arenas and random battles (except for the staff which was given for free). Lately I have been getting Power and Shade equipment from random battles. For Phase, I just get Fox or Owl once in a while (no elemental suffixes at all).
No Phase with Fenrir or Heimdall suffix yet. The prices you guys want from Fenrir and Heimdall is absurdly high and reserved for those who have the credits to fork them over.

Profit on fenrir/heimdall is enough to support free equips. (Provided that I have those equips) I don't need to earn pennies from those who can't pay their bills. This post has been edited by varst: May 28 2012, 22:01

It is called Pity Sex Donation. If we see someone who just started on mage/melee and wears equipment so suck, that we would take pity on him and give them some decent set. In his case, he is wearing Cotton, with Specific Mitigation suffixes as overkill. Obviously he dont know what he should be doing as a mage. Look like you are doing well, since you get Power and Shade, both can fetch decent credit, even if sold in bazaar, which can buy yourself some decent mage equipment

So why don't give it to this guy, if I don't need it anyway? QUOTE(mustardpie @ May 28 2012, 15:52) We can't have half naked people running around the forums..... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif) The person is at Level 122. Usually I see free stuff given to people at much lower levels. Probably sold his mage equipment when the player was just a melee user. I know the free item shop in the WTS section has some good stuff anyway and donations make them more appealing. This post has been edited by rpgman1: May 28 2012, 22:06

And that's what I hear from the guy who didn't even said "thank you for a new avatar" to me, but still use it. Hasn't shown up lately when people are going to the free equipment shops run by el h and Jarun now. I was thinking about donating some of my Kevlar, Power, and Shade equipment there.

I don't care about Karma or other crap. And I don't demand anything for my work, even a response message with words of gratitude. But it's a good way to see somebody's gist. So now it's kinda late to fix anything, you've already made an impression on me. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

If people want credits, best thing to do is drawing or translating.
PD: or begging.

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I'm stressed out lately since I'm still trying to find a job (even with my bachelor's degree). Most of my free time is spent on the Internet and playing HV.

There's a reasons why I usually don't give away stuff for free as a way to help new player but instead sell it at a very cheap price.
