QUOTE(MidNightPass @ May 8 2012, 08:10) Your AP tree looks fine to me. Are you a light melee with mace...? You will find OC tanks useful for the 2H skill. At last, you will need the SP tanks when you get spirit shield.
Yes, I'm light melee with a decent Mace (nothing noteworthy). Pouring my leftover AP in SP/OC tanks seems like a good idea. I'm still only at 72 proficiency with 2H, though, so I can't chain Shatter Strike yet. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I'm looking forward to fighting FSM after Silence. Thanks for the reassurance. This post has been edited by Vulpino: May 8 2012, 08:14

Thanks for the reassurance. Use cleave (tier 1) when the PA is active (tier 2), it does massive damage. I don't think it's a must to get 100 proficiency to kill FSM, but it is a bonus.

Eh, crap. I could only manage to get FSM down to about 10% health remaining. I just ran out of MP, despite using so many Godly Mana Potions. Oh well, three Tokens of Blood down the drain.

Perhaps you need to look for better shades and weapons. This post has been edited by MidNightPass: May 8 2012, 10:55

I guess I spoke too soon. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif) I got through my arenas an hour ago on Hell difficulty and it wasn't as brutal as I remember it being a day after the patch. I did use Protection though, but I'm not sure how much it really helped; maybe it did psychologically or something. It was still pretty harsh on spirit though. Certain enemies (E1la) need to die as quickly as possible, and enemies that I want to ET need Weaken so that their special attacks don't shave off 20-50 spirit while I'm waiting ET down. It's also not safe whenever spirit is anywhere near the minimum amount that Spark needs to activate. This has always been true but it's especially so for me now than in it has in the past. The only times I have died since the patch are where Spirit Shield would trim my spirit down just enough that Spark would fail in the same turn.

I have a question. At what level are we supposed to be able to level up our equips?
My equips are shitty right now, usually because I out-level them by a lot. Should I just be content of 1 level a day in easy mode? Normal, by round 100, is already crazy.
Any thoughts? Here are my stats, btw.
Physical Attack 1878.6 base damage 92.3 % hit chance 28.7 % crit chance
Damage Mitigation 54.4 % physical 46.5 % magical Avoidance 4.1 % evade 31.7 % block 19.8 % parry 9.4 % resist Compromise 71.9 interference 55.8 burden
Anything else you guys need to give me a direction for IWing? Or just be content that I should level up before attempting harder IWs, like > normal ~_~

- Do you cast any supportive spell? - What weapon do you use? - Are you exaggerating about the situation? ... It's a bit odd you can't do 100 round IW @ Normal since it shouldn't be that much harder, if not easier, than doing the 2nd page arena @ Normal (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

That's strange, at your level you should be able to keep it up for at least 200 exquisite IW rounds on Normal. Anyway, stats are useful but links to your current equips would be even more useful. Edit: your burden and interference are awful for a light melee in any case... But you're not a light melee, right? Try plate; it's much better than you might think.

I have experience with this. Are you using IA?
EDIT - well looks like you've gone offline so I'm just gonna make a few assumptions.
Right after lvl 200, I got that exquisite ethereal longsword of slaughter and immediately tried leveling it. Only made it to 140 or so on normal before running out of mana. At the time, I had no training in rat pack, and loaded up with all godly mana potions, but still ran out because of IA haste + sv + regen, and then SoL and/or SS at later levels. I switched to using regen only for early levels and used SS instead of SoL or using both for later levels, and cleared it on normal with 3 of 8 mana pots left.
As for your equipment, since your using heavy, you will have even more mana issues than I did. First of all, your armor sucks. It's giving less mitigation than my kevlar set, and my kevlar still gives 20% evade and has much less interference.
Also, I definitely don't recommend estoc, especially for IW. Once I got past 100 in exquisite IW, it was basically playing russian roulette. How many attacks will land on me and how strong will they be in the initial wave? How many can I stun with a single mace attack? The stun part really helped. With estoc, your taking too much damage.
You should upgrade your armor and change to a mace. Go with either heavy protection or power or barrier shield. Your current set isn't very strong defensively. Better protection or barrier shield could make you much more durable. Power could also help because the less mana IA drains, the better.

Wow, 10% increase in phys mit makes so much of a difference?? I should probably not use shield pieces any more if plates are already this good (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Going from 55% to 66% phys mit + using protection provides a much smoother experience compares to using full barrier. Why is this the case? Numerically, wouldn't a 33% chance to avoid damage be better compared to a 20% increase in damage reduction? This post has been edited by ChosenUno: May 8 2012, 18:29

Joke explanation: Magic. Serious explanation: I don't know, therefore Aliens.

Calculations
Supposed 100 damage a hit, 100 hits.
Shield set: -30% block -55% mitigation -20% parry
Plate set: -66% mitigation -20% parry
Every hit for 100 damage would deal 45 damage to shield before block and parry. 3400 damage to plate before parry.
Of those 100 hits Shield would block 30% of those, and parry 20% of the rest, that's 56 hits that still land. Plate would parry 20% of the hits, so 80 hits land.
56 hits for 45 damage each is 2560 damage. 80 hits for 34 damage each is 2720 damage.
By logic, shield should be slightly better in the long run.
This is where the RNG gods (+aliens and magic) messes with you. If you get unlucky and fail to block, you'll take a lot more damage from the monsters, about 30% more damage. Because block relies of chance, occosionally, you have a huge max damage crit or a bunch of smaller attacks land. With plate, because you took less damage, just using regen might be able to get you through, for shield though, the 30% more damage forces you to use cure so you don't leave your hp too low.
Just speculation though, since I don't actually know how your play.

I thought the drop quality was fine or higher when you do IWBTH. Did it change with the patch or something? [ dl.dropbox.com] questionable gear drop?

The trick here is the Protection spell ... The way it works is totally incomprehensible to mere mortal like us.
Aliens...

[ dl.dropbox.com] questionable gear drop? No, Difficulty determines the likelihood of certain item drop and the amount will be dropped, which works like Scavenger. Item quality is on the separate roll Basically, you still can get Crude even on IWBTH, just the chance is lower, because it is still on separate loot roll This post has been edited by Coma: May 8 2012, 19:10
