So... what did Phys/Mag Absorption do exactly? Reduce damage taken, or something else?
Call me crazy, but I feel like I'm taking a lot more damage today, especially when I'm in Normal status. (Only because I'm finding myself getting absurdly low HP very often in battles against only 3 enemies... on Normal difficulty.)

I believe Absorb works like this. Let's say that a monster is about to do x amount of damage and you have y amount of absorb. The damage you take would be x-y, and then the mitigation is applied to x-y.

On which level i can try to defeat Real Life on Hard difficulty? In battles vs. bosses i have Protection, Haste and Shadow Veil on autocast slots. And i'm using Sleep, Weaken, Bewilder, scrolls of Shielding and Warding+infusion accordingly to boss weakness, nuke (xover9Ktimes), repeat till you win. Do i have to use Life Spark to survive, and Absorb to save MP? As a mage Protection does little to help.
Spark is for when you screw up and forget to recast debuffs and they smack you hard enough so you die. Absorb is for absorbing magic attacks like those from ROB or when you do the Trio and the tree on a higher difficulty. Absorb doesn't help you against normal monster mob attacks, exception being elementals.

Pretty much wat trikon000 said. Absorb works great in countering Bosses in RoB or the Trio, since they can cast magical attacks and Spirit Attacks. Outside from RoB, Absorb sucks hard.

With Physical and Magical Absorption has been removed from equipment in the 0.6.6 patch, you will need to have Spark as a requirement.

I'd max haste, weaken and get reg along with a few other basic spells

You're going to want to reset those abilities and allocate them into supportive spells. Max out Haste, Weaken and maybe Spark of Life (considering you're doing IWBTH) as well.
Put a point into Regen. Regen II later on requires it as a prerequisite. Regen II is one of the best spells you can get, both as mage or melee, and Regen is pretty good itself.
As for where you get those points from, I would suggest using them from your EXP or SP Tanks. HP Tanks should be maxed, and MP Tanks should be prioritized over SP and EXP ones.

Its been a while since I last played HV just want to make sure everything I have is good for melee. I also have a question, I remember that dual rapiers with penetration was really popular is that still true and if so should a make the long journey to get my prof up on it. 2H SwordHelmBodyHandsLegsFeet

Nope, Dual-Clubs is the new kid in town now, makes even IWBH FSM like a lol-mode monster. Dual-Axes for ridiculous amount of damage, and Anything-with-Offhand-Dagger for Parry The newest HV version allows melee wider option to play with whatever style they like, the most popular weapon is eth Mace, for faster clear speed plus Stun, followed by eth Scythe. Also, you might want to switch to Heavy, since Leather isnt very good unless you go full Kevlar with Shade mix. Evade is almost useless compared to very high mitigation from Heavy that you can gain. "of protection" is good, but ditch the leather and get some kevlar or plate/power/shield armor. I'd suggest a different weapon, scour the WTS section and find some higher damage/proc weapons. Can check my store in the link as well. A lot of people like club+rapier; club+club for better stun chances. DW/1h is only good for the shorter arenas and bosses though; 2hand is king otherwise. The domino strike from 2h is just too much better for long grinding sessions against 9 foes. So exactly why are people looking for 2 feathers of each color, just for safety?

ARGGG arena gave me 4 feathers in 600 rounds, but IW, Crysfest, and grindfest haven't given men ANYTHING (including artifacts and good item drops) in about 1000 rounds.

Well....I spent about 32 stamina on grinding all 7 feathers, so they would be about 3200 rounds in total. And I have some better training than most of the players, so prepare to spend even more rounds on grinding.
