Hm; I have my sights set on a pair of Ebony and Katalox Destruction staffs with base stats in the area of +35 MDM, +5 Elemental/Divine/Forbidden, +1.0-1.2 Wind/Holy/Dark EDB, x3 ET @ 36-40% proc chance. At least. I was thinking about seeing if I could buy them for a million each and making it a goal to start saving up right now, but that is me just taking a shot in the dark their values; I have no idea if that amount would be too little or too much.

And yeah, I can't remember when the last time I found a Katalox staff was; I've found maybe one or two Ebonies since the patch. I've been saving up Appendages and Saplings for when I'm higher level, but in all likelihood that will just result in the bazaar being flooded with Redwoods. 1 million for a +35 MDB staff....seems too high for ebony, a bit low for katalox
Of course there are multiple factors affecting the price, so take this as a reference.
You can also search in WTS for some reference price.

1 Godly HP, 1 Godly SP, the rest Godly MPs.

As for armor, I suggest mixing shade/kevlar or go full shield armor. You need defense. I think shield is better compared to light at your level.

Managed to beat Arena Lv. 130 on "normal" today which I found nearly impossible before testing out your suggestion on what to wear on Battle Items. Godly MPs really is a blessing when it comes to healing me in the long run, instead of using HPs which get used up almost instantly in my experience.

Will try to beat Arena Lv. 140 and Arena Lv. 150 today when I'm back from work. :)

Just remember that it's not easy to save MP potions now; if you don't need that many godly MP per run, you may substitute that with greater/superior MP. Or even HP potions.

the fight was on the 2/9 arena that I have done before without much problems so im just wondering if im missing some stat or skill that I should have, granted I use spells so I have prob less armor/midigation since im in caster gear but it just seemed weird that every once in a while ill just get destroyed by something out of nowhere.

instant death can always happen to mage. have you maxed out HP tanks?

That's called skill/spirit attack. Monsters will have a chance use their skills with 50% or more MP and a chance to use their spirit attack with 50% or more SP.
You can notice that by the following line:

When monsters 'use' some attack, it's a physical attack. When they 'cast' some attack, it's a magical attack.
Most of these skills/spirit attacks can deal great damage, even 1-hit you to death.

At your level there are only a few way to lessen the damage: weaken (decrease physical attack by 50%), bewilder (decrease magical attack by 50%), poison (decrease MP/SP regen rate).
Later you'll have spark of life (which lets you revive after one fatal attack) and SP shield (which drains your SP instead of HP for some damage).

Thats why I didn't start maging till I got spark. Way too expensive to only invest in scolls of life.

Mage or Melee? Either way, after you max out HP tank, you should invest few into Mana tank. Also, at your level, you should be using Regen, which is mana-effective healing over Cure.

Protection is better for Melee who have at least 30% physical mitigation. Mages are better off with casting only Regen

Thats why you should always try to only cast supportive spells in spirit stance; save the initial cast and channeling. Other things to do:
You might also consider finding equip w/ lower interference.
Up your wisdom.
And as already stated, MP tanks, and use regen-it's more mana efficient.

I just got regen2 myself, and dear god, it costs 154 in my heavy suit. I have 681 mana. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/anime_cry.gif)
I'll have to run some comparisons, but in the later rounds of IWs when stuff starts hitting harder, seems to be easier to just use protect + regen2, then deal w/ protect + sv + regen. And dang it is nice channeling bait. the duration is sick.

Wish the icon was different than regen1. I replaced regen1 w/ regen2 in my qb, and put regen1 in qb2, and ended up accidentally casting regen2 a couple times.

Mana is pretty important for melees too.
I have all of mine filled out for a total of 1174 MP.

I have 30 lvls of ability boost is why.

I got about 25 left on Ability Boost, and all I can say is 100 is not enough.
