Just wondered: what's generally better - upgrading a weapon or level it up through IW? I know that level it up may increase many stats at once but what about on each specific stat? Does upgrading increase it more?

Those are two mechanisms.
IW will increase your item's level, thus increasing its stat according to level scaling. The base stat won't be changed.
Forging changes an item's selected base stat (increasing by 1% per forge), thus its stat will also be increased. It gives better increment in a particular stat, but it costs you materials, which can be expansive to get (especially if you're considering rare equipments)

Therefore, it's difficult to say which method is better in terms of efficiency.

http://ehwiki.org/wiki/Level_Scaling
is greater than
http://ehwiki.org/wiki/The_Forge#Reforging
overall.

i see, but now i wonder why the "search" button showed me up only "heavy chain weapon" or such.

however this means in order to use T2 skill (unlocked at level 50) i must use the T1 skill first?

I'm usually sarcastic when I'm helpful.

Also, bonus Protip:
Forging is awful. It is extremely expensive for a very tiny improvement. Unless you have a piece of equipment with godly stats, what's the point?

I agree....the results of forging is awful. But from a gameplay/enjoyment perspective, it's pretty alluring, as there's so many other fun activities you need to get involved in to make it happen. Nuturing monsters, harvesting your goodies, gathering the right materials in oh so many ways. Unfortunately, all that activity obscures the basic fact that the cost of forging is so huge, you probably should forge only the very, very best equipment. But what low-level player can resist trying?

I would rather trade my materials to some HL player who would IW my gear for me...I can't level-up anything worthwhile for actual use. Anybody care to put a price on leveling up a piece of ~L120 gear 5 levels? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Are you serious? That sounds like an absolutely crazy bargain for the person getting their gear leveled...was this a common practice? Let me know if there's anyplace in the forums that describes how it was handled.

In the meantime, I guess I better put an offer out there and see what happens.

At one time being back when people could do IW within reasonable times. Most of the people capable of doing it are like "forget this shit" now.

Just to make things clear, T2 skill will be unlocked at 50 proficiency of the respective fighting style (1H, DW), NOT at level 50.

I just noticed something quite funny. Given that all I currently do in HV is collecting daily hath+CR, I did not pay any attention at how much hath I actually have. Last time I checked it was on approx. 35-45 mark. After these last ten days I suddenly decided to check it out and I saw the 172.xx number. Wha~?
Not that I am complaining but... Out of nowhere?

Does anyone know if there exists a list of how many crystals each Primary Stat and Elemental Defense level costs? I seem to recall seeing one on this forum somewhere, but I can't find it. I'm trying to figure out how many crystals I'll need to finish off my Daimon for the time being (this is probably not a good idea because I bet that it will be a demoralizing amount).

I know there are formulas on the wiki, but...lazy. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)
